If I could give this company a less than zero rating, I would.
What started out as a positive and rather hopeful experience turned into a nightmare and made me vow to NEVER use outside vendors like this who are too small to service metroplex accounts ever again.
We got called/harassed constantly about a trailer that we paid for UPFRONT for an entire week. When discussing the usage with Mr. Pasternak, we told him about a vast market of opportunity for him in the area and that if this worked out well, we'd use him and form a partnership with him. He stated, " If you're going to use the trailer that much and possibly need another one, in a few weeks I'll just go buy another one."
So our initial discussion centered on me using the trailer for two weeks and that I'd let him know on Monday about my intentions for further usage. Thursday of the first week he calls and texts asking if we're going to keep the trailer additionally. I tell him I'll let him know Monday as stated previously so that he'll be in the know. Monday comes, I send him a message stating I wanted to rent the trailer for two more days, and that after that, based on jobs that were starting to roll in, I'd rent it for another week after that.
He then tells me to bring the trailer back immediately. Of course, I'm slightly confused based on our previous conversations, and I call. He admits, on the phone, that because he doesn't have eyes and a way to check on his trailer, he's paranoid/worried and that he has demand up there as well. Understood, but you just went from talking about how much you want to do work in Dallas with a paying customer to all of a sudden now you're paranoid and the demand in Paris/Blossom is larger. Keep in mind, he spent the morning he dropped off the trailer berating a kid that he's know for quite some time who wasn't making a solid commitment to rent his trailer.
So now we're dealing with a double talker in hindsight. Fear set in, and he wrecked a GREAT opportunity to keep his trailers busy, make connections in the real estate industry in Dallas and the entire metroplex, and basically he melted down today.
So rather than continue to be harassed, we tell him we're going to bring the trailer back to him today. Before picking up the trailer, because the vendor/contractor we were using had no idea the trailer was leaving, they loaded it up with trash early this morning. So rather than return his trailer dirty and full of trash, we took it to the dump and emptied it. He accuses us of "yanking his chain."
We provide picture evidence of the trailer being full. We then tell him it'll take us a little longer because we're going to dump the trash and clean it out. He says as long as it's back today, there's no charge whatsoever. My trailer delivery guy calls him to tell him they're in route but that they're fighting traffic. He tells them to "be careful and that he'll be there until 6 PM."
At 5:50, after already having talked to myself and my delivery driver, and after stating MULTIPLE times via text that he wasn't charging us since we're bringing it back today, he charges my card not only for an ADDITIONAL Day rental (meaning I could've brought the trailer back tomorrow instead of today under duress), but also a late fee for today!! So let me get this straight, you're charging me for an additional day's rental plus a late fee for today even though I agreed to bring the trailer back and you agreed to the arrangement?
THAT IS NOT GOOD BUSINESS AT ALL!!
In essence, Mr. Pasternak has blown all trust and equity that he could have ever had in the Dallas market with people I know. Having been in the waste management business for over 8 years and counting, and having rented PLENTY of dump trailers and trailers in general, what started out as a potentially great experience turned into easily the WORST rental we've ever had with a potential vendor.
