Excellent breakfast. I’m from Texas and was looking for TexMex. Instead, I had the El Salvadoran breakfast #5. Fried plantains with cream, eggs, alvacado, refried beans and thick corn tortillas. It was amazing. The coffee is also unique and delicious. The service was great and the food came out fast! I highly recommend.

In town for 2 days, and had lunch here BOTH DAYS. If that's not enough of an endorsement, what is? Great food!

A casual dining experience in a little strip mall. This is NOT Tex-Mex. This family owned restaurant works hard to make you feel welcome, explains items very well, very clean. You can see into the kitchen. Five of us dined here for lunch, choosing different things so we could experience the most. Pork, beef and cheese papusas are very good. (Personally I’d get a cheese and a meat, not 2 cheese as it’s A LOT of cheese). Fried plantains and tamale elote were very good. Both easily shared by 2-4 people. We will definitely be back.

Can't say enough about this great restaurant in Boerne that our daughter found. In brief:Amazing, freshly made to order, grilled (not fried) pupusas. Horchata, curtido, salsas, rice and beans. All authentically & freshly made. Amazing decor and personal pictures from travels by the owners. As a vegan/vegetarian group, we can't speak personally to the meat dishes, but they look and smell authentic as well. Saw several people walking away shaking their heads in disbelief at how delicious their meal was.In detail:Last weekend we went for our second time. It was just as good if not better than the first time! We also were privileged to meet the owners on this trip. As busy as they were, they took time to chat with us in between tending to others. The pupusas are airy and not greasy. Carlos (El Salvadorean) and I are currently vegan. We had the plate with 2 pupusas (bean and loroco) and (bean and jalepeno), rice and beans. We also ordered a side of fried plantains to share. When we first went in December, our daughter and her family were with us. We were served by a delightful woman who explained all the options. They ordered cheese pupusas and horchata which were also delicious. One of the granddaughters had a bean and cheese taco. We also tried the Tamalitos de Elote con Crema which we ordered as an appetizer. You will want to order an appetizer, because the pupusas are made fresh which takes a bit, but are SOOOO worth the wait. I'm sure you could order ahead if needed. Casa Amaya is a cultural experience worth waiting for!Vegetarian options: While not labeled on the menu, the owners and staff are knowledgeable about their food to answer any questions or offer substitutions. We are vegan and had bean and loroco pupusas.Dietary restrictions: Vegan, sugar free, vegetarian. Able to accomodate.Kid-friendliness: It was very fun going with my grandkidsWheelchair accessibility: Street level entrance with ramp from parking lot.

This is our favorite restaurant in Boerne! The food is always great and holds up to takeout and the fried yuca can’t be missed!

Highly recommend. I've passed by this restaurant many times, convinced that it would be overpriced, while also being barely edible, like so many restaurants in Boerne. This place is far from that. The music was pleasant, the service (our waitress was Lupe) was very good, and the price and quality of the food was thoroughly satisfying. The sauces each have unique flavor profiles: a couple very mild ones, an incredibly spicy one, and one with a good kick. I got the Papusa plate with one bean and cheese and one cheese and loroco (edible flower). I definitely prefer the loroco, but the beans were quite good, as was the rice. It was the perfect amount of food to satiate my appetite and I am thrilled with my experience. My boyfriend was very content with his carne asada street tacos. We will certainly be returning.Vegetarian options: Bean and cheese, cheese and loroco, and cheese and jalapeño papusas

I just love this place. I always have. The food is authentic and delicious, but the owners and service are what is the best. I'd like to keep it a secret but I can't. ???❤️

The food was bland and the service was horrible. The younger girl working in the front was rude for no reason. Also the prices are not correct on here or they over charged me! Either way I won’t be returning.

This restaurant is fantastic. I saw it featured on texas bucket list and wanted to see for myself. Well, it was better than described. We had the pork revuelta pupusas and the yuca Puerco. Everything was so good. The cabbage salad that topped the meal was unbelievably good. The sauses and salsa were perfect. There was also a cabbage relish type side with jalapeño slices in it. Large portions on top of it all. Wow y'all got a good thing in Bourne!

The food is amazing. Easily became one of my favorite places to eat.Sadly, I visited the restaurant November 6 and got my usual order. The same order I had two days prior with no issues and became ill. So much so that now I have a cold. What first was an upset stomach and a visit to the restroom became a sore throat to now a full on head cold.I can’t blame anyone specific because the staff didn’t appear sick, so I’m not sure who gave me the illness. I know it came from here because prior I wasn’t ill and it was the last thing I ate before becoming sick. Being that I’m four months pregnant this is extremely disappointing and hurtful to me.I don’t think I’ll be visiting anytime in the future, but just wanted to let others know to be cautious. Wear a mask and be sure no one is sick before you eat.
