A.J’s Transmissions is out of business. So if you’re looking for solely a transmission shop this is not one. The current proprietor is a “general auto mechanic” that is still using A.J.’s Transmssions contact info and sign. I did not realize this until after the work was performed. The actual business name is Ernest’s Services and he only accepts cash. This was also wasn’t disclosed until after the work was peformed. The initial estimate that he gave was literally twice as much more than two other shops gave me. However, those shops were “just general auto shops.” I figured that I’d be better off with going with a “real” transmission shop and that the extra money would be worth it, meaning there’d be less chances of any mishaps. It didn’t turn out that way though. The “general mechanic” that is occupying A.J.’s Transmission old shop left a seal leaking that wasn’t leaking when the vehicle was brought in. The new seal that was installed was the same as the one that came out, so the wrong part isn’t the problem. He got upset when it was brought to his attention. However, I believe he already knew that it was leaking because said it put silicone on one side. I’m guessing the side where it was leaking. It’s still leaking so I guess I’ll have to pay one of the other cheaper “general mechanics” to replace the leaking seal. I hope the housing is still good. At any rate, if you’re looking for a transmission shop AJ’s Transmissions is out of business. This place is really Ernest’s Services.
*Edit* The housing is ruined. I figured that it was going to be when he showed me the bushing and seal that he took out of as It was all chewed up. It looked like he tried to use a hammer and a screwdriver to remove it when you’re supposed to use a press. I didn’t see a press in his shop but maybe I missed it. I was also pretty sure it was going to be ruined since he tried to hide/fix his mistake with silicone on one side. The scartched up side. The housing that he ruined is obsolete for my model so I had to by a used one for $180 and hope that it’s ok. That’s sort of small potatoes compared to this next part. I’m going to have to have another shop take out and reinstall the new torque converter that Ernest instilled. I’m pretty sure that he didn’t measure the spacing between the flexplte and the converter when he installed it. I’m not sure if he was aware that he was supposed to measure it since he’s not really a transmission mechanic. At any rate I’d bet the farm that he just bolted it down and that it’s too tight since the car won’t pull itself in drive without giving it gas. Maybe he’ll Google what the gap is supposed to be and list it during his rebutted. I’ll give you a hint, it’ supposed to between X” and X” where did you set the gap Ernest? I paid $1,400 in labor and now I’m fixing to have to pay another shop an arm and a leg. Once again THIS IS NOT A TRANSMSSION SHOP. A.J. is dead and Ernest rents his old shop. Prior to renting AJ’s old shop he was a setup mechanic for John Deere. Don’t be fooled thinking that you’re going to an expirnced transmission mechanic. If you need transmission work run like the wind. If you need a bucket put on a 5055E it might workout for you.

Simply ask for a quote on a transmission and he told me I had to bring it in because there two different transmission. So I asked what's the two different quote then, and he just hung up on me.
