I’d give this place 2 stars, but I don’t think they deserve it. This one star is specifically for the staff ( vet tech, receptionist) when I went in. My sister in law called over the phone and she was quoted $700-800 for an emergency pet fixture surgery. When she arrived, they took the pup in the room and were quick to give her an estimate of $2,100. I was very upset because this is not what was agreed upon and I was there right next to her when she spoke to them over the phone. The girl was on speaker as well so I could hear clearly. I immediately called them back when I found this out and spoke with the main doctor who made it clear with his words “ I’m the main boss here” did say he would look into this and resolve it. 5 minutes later they called my SIL and said they would do everything for $800. I appreciate that he did do that for her , but this isn’t why I’m writing this review. When we got there the next day to pick up the pup, he had the worst demeanor I’ve ever seen. He looked very annoyed with us. If you own a business, and your receptionist messes up something it is your responsibility to fix the situation. I understand he may have lost out on money, but as a vet I believe you should care more about helping dogs than money. It seemed like all this man cared about was money. If he wasn’t ugly with us and didn’t basically throw our pups meds on the table I wouldn’t be writing this. Be more professional and do better if you want to keep your business open. I will never be coming back here and I will be reporting this to the BBB and will not be recommending anyone to come here. We have 6 dogs and this place definitely lost my business forever.

My dog was sick, and they were able to see her as a new patient on the same day.

I’m making this as a warning to anybody and everybody considering taking their pets here! Monday (1/8/24) I had let me dogs out to potty and when they came back in I noticed one of my dogs face had some swelling I was thinking possibly a bee a sting and was giving him Benadryl throughout the day. The next morning Tuesday (1/9/24) when we got up his face had tripled in size and he had started drooling with blood. I called around to multiple vets through out the day trying to get him in somewhere to be seen when another vet had recommended this location. I called them and they said to bring him in right away and they could see him. We arrive around 5:30 pm (1/9/24) and they take him back to get his weight and examine him. The first vet comes in and informs me that it was a snake bite that they could see the to punctures on his cheek that with medications and steroids he should be okay. So we ask him the cost of everything and a vet tech comes back in with an estimate of 801$ we informed them that we didn’t have the funds that we would get paid that coming up Monday if they could work with us. They told us they couldn’t do payment arrangements but we could remove some things from the estimate that were not necessary but more help to speed the healing process up. So he came back with a second estimate of 200$ and I told him we were able to pay that and I asked multiple times if he was sure that the steroids and antibiotics was enough to save him and he assured me that it was. After the vet tech left the room to gather medications and give him the shot a third (what I’m assuming is a vet) comes in to the room and tells me that without the other treatments (which was just an IV bag blood test and him staying over night) that my dog would die and would not make it to Monday to seek further help. He then proceeded to ask us if we could get money from friends or family members to gather the cost of the extra things they wanted to do. We told him n that we have already talked with friends and family members and nobody could help us. He then proceeds to ask us if we had any gold chains or GUNS or anything of value that we could hand over to them to hold until we could pay of the remainder of the 800$. We told him we didn’t have anything like that and he just sat there and kept repeating that my dog would die unless I could get the extra treatment! At this point im hysterical and crying because I just lost three of my dogs the year prior to old age and bloat. My husband is getting irate because this doctor who is obviously cold hearted kept repeating to me my dog would die. Incredibly unprofessional!! I do not know this vets name and at the time I was in such hysterics that I didn’t even think to ask. It is the next day Wednesday (1/10/24) and the swelling in my baby’s face is almost completely gone and he is doing so much better! But I will NEVER go to this place ever again and I suggest nobody else does either!!Editing to add I believe the man is Jordan Tijerina and is the practice manager. smh.

We are so grateful that we found this amazing clinic! We had 2 dogs and our Troop had some serious health concerns. Dr. Paton saw him immediately and started treating him. Within a year, Troop's health became considerably worse and caused him to have grand mal seizures. Dr. Paton once again saw him quickly and put him on a new medication. During the night, his condition deteriorated and we brought Troop to the clinic. He was too weak to walk so Jordon carried him inside for us. He required a major surgery and we were told to come and say our good byes. When we came in, the entire staff was very compassionate and emphasized with us. The next morning, we were told that he was suffering so we put him done. When I picked up his ashes, I was astonished at the beautiful container that his ashes were in. We also received a beautiful card from the staff a few weeks later. Everyone in the office helped us to feel so much better during a difficult situation. We are very grateful for everything you do and have done for our family!

Dr Kenny Paton has been our vet for over 20 years! There is no one I would trust more! The staff is always friendly and helpful. If you are on time for your appointment, you rarely have to wait for an exam room. They run like a well oiled machine! If you are anywhere near the Bulverde area its worth the drive.

I'm new to the San Antonio area. My little dog wasn't feeling well. I wasn't sure where to take her too. I came across Country Hills Vet. I gave them a call, they were able to see her next day. They observe her, explained all that she needed. I was sad because,I had to leave her overnight. The staff was so nice n caring. Highly recommend Country Hills Vet.

The best Vet office in town. Compassionate, fair pricing and dependable. I don’t feel comfortable having my pets seen by anyone else honestly, but here. Everyone is kind and caring. Thank you from Charlie and his human family!

We met Dr. Patin and Dr. Lehne when we had our young puppy show signs of seizures which at the time we didn’t know and our previous vet didn’t seem to get find out what was wrong with him quick enough. As faith would have it, We found Country Hills and we got in immediately to see Dr. Patin and his team. After leaving Jax in their hands he was diagnosed with seizures and was put on meds. Since then we have taken Annabelle and Jax for their vet needs. Jax is doing great and we couldn’t be happier with Dr. Patin and Dr. Lehne.

Been going to this vet for 4 years. They saved 3 out of my 4 cats and brought them back to good health. They take the time to listen and check out your pets. I recently switched to a closer vet and almost lost my 4th baby due to the vet dismissing my concerns. My apt wasn't until a later time and I showed up first thing in the morning stating my cat had a fever and they put him in a room immediately. Never had a problem here and highly recommend.

Amazing vets office, was able to see my pet within 24 hours every time I contacted for an appointment. Pricing is fair, the vet tech seem to truly care for your pets and show a lot of compassion. Would definitely recommend. I would also recommend contacting on pricing before setting up appointment. Always make sure that's within your budget. The vet is very considerate of your budget as well. 5 out of 5 recommend!

My cat has been with Country Hills Vet Clinic for many many years. If anyone was looking for a vet clinic in the local area, I would HIGHLY recommend them. However, that was when Dr. Patin was his Doctor.A few weeks ago, I took my cat in because he wasn't eating and was withering away. He is 19 years old but was still very mobile and active except for the non food consumption part. He was assigned a new Doctor (I haven't been in a long time and my instinct was to request for Dr. Patin. His bedside manners were bar none and I always left feeling like I was given the answers that I needed to care for him when home.) I didn't listen to my instincts and decided to give the new Doctor a chance. He stayed at the clinic for 2 nights and most of the day the following. On his first night, I received a voicemail message asking me to bring his bed, food, and blanket. The food part confused me since I prepaid $51 for the prescription food. I brought all the items requested when they opened at 7AM the next day since I didn't get the message till late the previous night. The staff was confused WHY that message was left and I deleted the message so I couldn't play it back. I left his things thinking they would use it and I requested to visit him later that day. They were cleaning the back so I couldn't see him then.I went back later that day to find that his bed nor blanket weren't used and he had a strong odor of urine. I didn't make a fuss. Surely, he wouldn't be coming home STILL smelling like that.???Unfortunately, I was mistaken. He smelled so badly of urine. I took him home and gave him a bath , soaping him 3x and shaved his tail since the smell persisted. I was willing to let it go. He was in a catheter and deduced that it would've been hard for him to utilize the cat box.The final straw was when I still had questions that were left unanswered. The last day (before I finally gave up and sought help somewhere else) I left 4 messages and still no call back. They were either with a patient or out to lunch. Understandable. But if messages were left, 4x I might add in a span of 3 days, it would've been nice to have received a call back!!!Dr. Patin, you have always provided a great level of service and care to my loved ones. This last visit left me incredibly upset. It felt like since he was old, (regardless of how mobile he is) that his life really didn't matter anymore. HE MATTERS TO ME!Dr. Patin, I thought long and hard before posting this and didn't want to leave a negative review since I am such a supporter of your practice. However, the experience still bothers me.Jordan is still with us and active. He is permanently on wet food; fancy feast. He refuses to eat the prescription food. Although he doesn't consume the meat, he'll lick the heck out of that gravy! I had to get creative and so far it has worked.Wishing you prosperity and good health!Respectfully,Carin Bryant
