I get it when I read the other reviews about the wait time, lack of communication, etc etc. but when you need a true emergency hospital for your furry loved one, this is a good place to go. Yes you have to wait, and yes we wish we'd get more communication when our dog Jaxson was there for eating a half of a tub of butter this past Sunday morning. Can we say pancreatitis?? A real possibility and one I didn't want to chance! So total time was 4 hours their and we have a well dog! Thank you. Hoping the owner reads this and tries to get a dedicated technician to let owners know what is going on!!!!

Burleson Animal ER is an effective veterinary clinic for after hours but their prices have gone through the roof! They used to be reasonable in cost compared to the Animal ER behind Walmart on Overton Ridge. Now perhaps they are slightly more cost effective than that clinic. I took my 5 year old cat in for a case of labored breathing and congestion. The cost was over $1000! They did X-rays, CBC, chemistry bloodwork, feline leukemia and another unnecessary test for an indoor cat we've had for years. In addition, they seem to be short staffed because they would spend a few minutes on our cat, then they were interrupted by more serious, life threatening cases, and after many hours our cat was discharged. Previous visits in the last year have all averaged $1000. or more. I will think twice before visiting the next time. The diagnosis was an upper respiratory infection which should not have cost anywhere near $1000.

My husband took our dog last night for a very large laceration. The vet staff was great. They took excellent care of our sweet boy. The discharge paperwork was very detailed and thorough.

I have been there twice now with 2 different cats. The staff is so welcoming and helpful. They tell you what needs to be done and how much. Both times I went I expected to pay double what I ended up paying so that was a plus. I think they are reasonably priced.

We have taken every single one of our 5 dogs to the Burleson Animal ER over the course of the last 4 years. From things as small as an allergic reaction, to as large as our oldest baby needing to be in oxygen therapy for over a week. We have had NOTHING but good experiences with them. Have we had long waits at times? yes. Have the costs been higher than our regular vets? yes. But we understand that emergency care warrants both of those things. And truly, the times we had to wait, I was grateful that our pet wasn’t so sick to warrant immediate need. We have found caring and compassionate staff from the front desk, to technicians, to doctors. While we hope to never have to bring our animals to emergency care, we feel very fortunate to have had the experience that we have.

I do not like leaving negative reviews unless I really feel the need to do so. We had a tragic and unexpected accident with one of our beloved fur babies and this was the only place close that is open 24 hours so we drove 80-90 mph from our home town to this vet to try and save our dog's life. We arrived frantic, my children and husband had no shoes on as we literally jumped in the car with our boy and headed to the hospital when he was hit by a car. I was covered in blood and histerical. The moment we walked in the door they were quick to react and took my boy to the back immediately which gave me hope since they were so quick to act on our arrival. IMMEDIATELY after taking my boy from my arms I was told that they needed an ID and form of payment. I had not even had an opportunity to gather my thoughts. After being in the facility for five minutes I was asked by three seperate workers if I had my card available for payment. I asked how much it would be and the immediate response was $700 just to look at the dog and it would cover the exam and the remainder would go towards diagnostics. The vet would not even come and tell me whether or not my baby was able to be saved until they had received payment in full. Instead of being honest and just telling me whether or not he was likey to survive I was told I had two options for treatment, one plan included 12 hours of care and the other included 40 hours of care. I just wanted to know if he was able to be saved in a doctor's opinion rather than to prolong his suffering. We also asked if we could please see him once he was stable and we were told they would have to check in to that because they had other patients in the back as well. At this point I am thinking honestly, IDGAF, that dog is my son and my children's brother and we just want to see his face one more time before we are able to decide for ourselves whether or not he is going to make it (since NO ONE else was able to make that assessment). After paying the initial $700 and then having been there only 15 minutes we were told in order for him to receive any more care we would need to pay $2,500.00 and that we were not able to take him home. We felt backed into a corner. So the only option was to pay $2,500 without seeing my dog or even knowing for sure if he is even still alive and then selecting another care plan and paying thousands more once the 12 hour time clock runs out. We were in a waiting room filled with urns and boxes for the creamated remains of pets which in and of itself was not very reassuring. We ended up leaving to go home and get my purse so that we could max our yet another card. All in all we were in the facility for a total of 20-25 minutes. Once we left we received a call notifying us that we needed to make a decision on 12 or 40 hours, at this point we elected to have our boy put to sleep considering the amount of blood and his non responsiveness the last time we were able to see him (which was before we entered the facility). I was sent the consent to euthanize via text message and told it would be an additional nearly $200 for him to be put down. I did argue that it could be taken out of the $700 I already paid since from the mouths of the techs all that was done was an initial assessment, a catheter, and some pain medicine. The tech said she would let me know once my boy had passed. I received NO call. Since no one called I had convinced myself that some miracle happened and he had recovered on his own. I called late the next day when I had mustered the courage to ask and was advised that he was put to sleep the night before exactly TWO minutes after I completed the consent to euthanize form. Still NO ONE called me to tell me. NO ONE felt that I needed to know my boy had crossed the rainbow bridge. NO ONE has even attempted to reach out and let me know where he is or if I can pick up his body for burial at home. I still to this day have NO confirmation of his actual death. NOTHING! Here I am 4 days later and still waiting. Will NEVER return here again.

Hard-working amazing people, who are sensitive to your needs in an emergency. They treated my beagle quickly and effectively when she was in excruciating pain. Hopefully won’t have to see them again but they were so great for after hours emergencies. ????

Staff was very kinda and caring. Price is what you would expect for emergency care. I am so thankful for the care and thorough attention given to my sweet girl.

I would like to convey our heartfelt Thank You to the doctors and staff. We were in with our Stu at about 9 pm on this Christmas day. Stu received caring assistance and crossed the Rainbow Bridge accompanied by shower of our tears. The donation made by Burleson Animal ER to plant a living tree in memory of Stu in Chippewa National Forest is the most touching gesture we have ever had. The significance of this gift is truly overwhelming to us. Thank you for all you do.

By far the worst experience I've ever had with a vet's office.I understand this is an "Emergency" ER and some animals need immediate assistance over our non life threatening situation. However I believe the average wait time could have been communicated upfront based on their current situation.I should have know that the experience was going to be bad when I read the signs upon entering the location- requesting their customers have patience with a minimum expected wait time of 3+ hours. Our situation was not critical however we would have appreciated some feedback over the 4+ hours we were in the waiting room on the status of our dog.The only way we were able to get someone's attention was to stand in the hallway until someone asked if we needed something.Once we did see the Dr for consulation I expressed the lack of communcation while we were there. Her response was "she wishes she had floating Dr's that could do that type of communication”.Isn't that what a tech can be used for?We are the customer and I was hoping for better customer service. A simple update every hour or even 1 1/2 hours would have been sufficient. Now I know why they take your $140.00 payment up front.I can only imagine how many people walk out and choose another provider.Hopefully they have their animal with them and have that option. The only communication we had was when we originally signed in and almost 2 hours later when the tech came in to evaluate our dog. When I addressed this to the tech 3+ hours into our visit she said she thought the Dr. had already come in to see us (not the case)"She should be in shortly" - 30 minutes later

They turned a absolute nightmare of a morning to a peaceful and wholesome end to my ferret Luna. Luna had cancer like most ferrets do in their later years, she was 7. Luna was bleeding internally and I knew I had to let her go but as you can imagine it’s very hard to stay calm and feel “right” about bringing an end to your best friend’s life. But Burleson Animal ER was so nice and so was all their staff. Being a former kennel tech to a clinic and boarding facility I know how hard and stressful this job can be but they did everything with such professionalism. It was calm, quiet, and very clean. Everyone spoke so kindly to us and the vet was absolutely excellent! She was very soft spoken and explained everything she was doing throughout the euthanasia procedure, and they all handled Luna and her very fragile body with care and gentleness. Luna was already sleeping before she was euthanized, and when she was injected she was in zero pain and complete peace like nothing happened. They turned a painful moment to a healing moment for me and I’ll forever be thankful! I also got a beautiful card of remembrance from them in the mail that they are donating in Luna’s honor for a tree to be planted in Chippewa National Forest which is so fitting for Luna! Thank you so much for all the hard work y’all do!

I would rate zero stars if I could.Absolutely HORRID bedside matter.A ridiculously rude vet chick. These people would fit right in if they opened a clinic in Portland or San Francisco.Stay away at all costs and just go to Midlothian if you can.Charged me $140 for nothing.

PLEASE SAVE YOUR TIME AND MONEY AND GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!Absolutely the worst experience. The vet technicians are NOT licensed, the testing/treatment is overpriced, the wait is 6+ hrs for an intervention they deem can wait, all services have to be paid for upfront prior to them providing any interventions and the “technician” Sarah A (who is not licensed) is INCREDIBLY UNPROFESSIONAL and RUDE- if she is your tech please request another one. She seems to take it very personally if you ask to talk to the vet to answer any medical questions you have.If you ask to speak to a vet in person you will be told that they are unavailable and all the communication with the vets will be delegated to the techs, who, once again, are NOT licensed. So do NOT expect to discuss concerns with any person who has licensed medical training, or a vet, in person- not even when admitting or discharging your pet.

I took my sick dog in for exam and treatment. They took my dog back immediately (and took payment right away) then I sat for almost 2 hrs. I saw several other people who were there before me also asking about their pets. I finally asked if they had even looked at my dog yet, and they had not. I told them that if they were just going to kennel her and not bother to tell me how long I would be waiting, I'd rather she stay with me while waiting. She's sick, nervous and scared. The last thing she needs is to be kennelled in a strange place for hours. I asked for a refund and got my dog back. Went to different ER. I don't expect immediate service; I understand they can get very busy and it's easy to get behind. But at least let people know what to expect so they can decide if they want to wait that long. One poor woman was having her dog put down and just wanted to say goodbye one more time. She was there before me and finally gave up and left. They couldn't even get someone to take her dog to see her one last time, and I witnessed myself (an hour earlier) that they told her they would, yet they kept putting her off.
