These guys are a joke… called and waited for 3 hours for an assistance call. Was told there was no supervisor on duty.. on a Monday at 8 a.m. I received a call about 3 hours later from a captain saying there was a deputy researching the case… how do you research a case without ever getting in contact with the person making the call or even knowing what’s going. Good job Burnet County….

Responded to a 911 call where my life was in danger, the dispatcher talking to my husband was able to get him calm and provide amazing support. Every person at the scene handled it with care and quickly. After when I have called to get various information everyone is helpful and caring. Proud to call this county home.

My husband and I were minding our own business, on our property, with our dogs and a sheriff’s suv pulled up front, asked what was going on, twice.... while running my plates, and forcing us to walk through mud to get to his car, he then forced an explanation of what we were doing and where we were from before driving off. Not sure what prompted this but I am not feeling welcomed to this town. (This is my personal evaluation of a specific service or business, based solely on my personal experience... so happy that there’s a forum specifically for that)

I called the sheriff office about an issue I was having and they immediately sent a police officer to take care of the issue. Although this was a nonemergency they were very helpful. Whenever I have called about burn permits or any other concerns they have always been helpful and considerate. I'm fortunate to live in a town like Burnet that has exceptional law enforcement officers.

I'm trying very, VERY hard to be respectful and supportive of law enforcement, especially with our country's civil unrest, but -- At the same time, this particular sheriff's department is making it equally difficult to support them due to their poor attitudes; often unprofessional demeanor; and, excuse-latent responses. Multiple residents -- not passers-by, but RESIDENTS -- in our area have complained about dangerous, near "road rage" driving in and around the Smithwick, TX area, but our concerns are almost always dismissed AND in the same manner. If you're not met with a surly dispatcher, you're forwarded onto someone "in patrol" that takes scanty details; never calls back for more details; and, never (Well, based upon the lack of police presence ...) seems to act on your concerns. We cannot PULL OFF THE ROAD and ONTO THE SHOULDER to GET TO OUR OWN HOME without being TAILGATED, BLASTED BY A HORN or FLIPPED-OFF! And, again, we're on the shoulder: There's not much further to go other than pull into the ditch! But, calling-in these complaints does NO good, as there's always an excuse ... Priorities. Staffing. Funding. Availability. Urgency. Distance. Jurisdiction. (And, it's not uncommon for the dispatchers to develop an attitude. Geez.) We cannot get plain ol' law enforcement, because we cannot get any type of law enforcement PRESENCE! The way I see it, the stretch of road is in Burnet County ... 'Nough said. And, just last month, a couple of novice motorcyclists decided to pass an 18-wheeler in a No Passing Zone (This happens ALL THE TIME, too.) on a blind hill, when they crested the hill and forced an innocent oncoming AREA motorist, her daughter and her granddaughter to veer of the road and nearly flip THEIR vehicle. Why??? WTH??? Unnecessary threats to life ... Unnecessary risks taken ... Unnecessary property damage ... Ugh. The BCSO's Mission Statement cites an effort to "... provide for the protection of lives and property." How, though, can this possibly be accomplished, when repeated complaints go unanswered?

Every officer I have met has been very polite and professional. Our Sheriffs dept is one of the many reason I am proud to be a resident of Burnet County.

Very impressed that the Sheriff's Department lets their officers put "In God We Trust" on their vehicles!!!
