The complaint I have is we had a hefty vet bill and asked if we could do it in two payments since we are retired and on a limited income. They said no. Every doctor and dentist we have had has worked with us to pay in two payments.

After 4 years with them I have switched vets. They have been charging me for vaccinations for my dogs but not updating their files then 6 months later telling me they weren't t given then charging me to do it again. The desk clerk even "looked up my receipt" and told me I had not been charged. I have now found the paper receipt to discover I was lied to.

Horrible experience when my pup was fixed. Said they would call when when he was ready to be picked up. I called around 9am and they said he is doing great and that they would call me when he was ready to be picked up. Fast forward to 3pm - I was getting nervous so I called again and the front desk said "oh, he's been ready since 9 - nobody called you?" I was livid! I went over to pick him up. He was potty trained and never has accidents, but when he came out he peed all over the reception area and I took him outside and he finished peeing. It was like he had never been let outside. I'm very disappointed, so much so that I won't ever take him back there. If I could rate zero stars I would.

If this is your vet I would highly recommend to stay away from "Dr." Brent Hale. This guy is a complete joke who lacks professionalism and competence. He will put inaccurate medical information in your pets medical record without discussing or informing you of what he thinks is "medically abnormal". I've been told by 4 other vets (to include Dr. Leakey at this location) that my French bulldog's nares look really good and normal. "Dr." Hale put in his medical record that they are abnormal and stenotic. This was NEVER mentioned to me during the appointment. When I called to ask to have him correct this false information for pet insurance purposes.. He stated that he can't falsify medical records. I then asked how he came to the conclusion that they are "abnormal" and he stated because I mentioned I am getting BOAS consultation/surgery with texas A&M (which wasn't even relevant to the purpose of my visit today). This shows how ignorant and uneducated he is about this type of breed because BOAS surgery has 5 different aspects to it and does not just involve the nares. A dog can have perfect nares and still require one of the five surgeries related to BOAS. Stay away from this incompetent "doctor" especially if you have a Brachycephalic breed. Photo to show that he does NOT have stenotic nares

Been going here for years, brought in our senior lab for a cough and Dr. Pleason was awesome! Took the time to get on the floor with our nervous gal and give her lots of treats while doing her examination to help with the stress, went over some options while letting me know cost and making sure I knew everything was optional and didn't try to push anything on us, wonderful experience!

They do not live up to what they claim on their website- and I quote " same day care for your sick pet during normal business hours guaranteed- so untrue - my little Sheltie had a horrible ear infection - I called on a Monday in the morning and was told they had no appointments until the following Monday - I knew it couldn't wait - I called Allure emergency vet and they said they were full as well - I finally found a walk in clinic in Bulverde who saw my baby and gave her an antibiotic and flushed her ear - vet said if I had waited any longer she could have lost her hearing - I have now changed vets and they have lost 4 patients! What on earth are they thinking letting a receptionist make those kinds of calls? Very very very poor customer service

Anyone who knows me, and what I stand for, knows I am a huge advocate for ALL animals!! Their care, their well being, and their Lives I will forever be a voice for. Which leads to my story. This Morning around 8:30AM, our beloved cat whom we rescued 6yrs ago, was mauled by dogs. My sweet daughter found him and was traumatized. We rushed him to the closest vet which was Canyon Lake Vet on hwy 306. Before arriving there, I called and informed the clinic of the situation, stated I needed an X-ray, and pain medication, and then would be transporting him to A&M. My daughters and I observed the care of our pet. The X-ray was done, I was called back to view the X-ray. Appeared to be a puncture or possible laceration of the trachea. I saw the techs trying to keep him laying calmly on a towel, but nothing being done for his pain. I repetitively asked for our cat to be given pain medication, as he was clearly in distress and struggling at this time, very obviously in pain. Shock setting in, Gums becoming pale, and body temperature dropping. At this point a good amount of time had gone by and still watching our cat suffer, I was beyond the asking mode, and insisted pain medication be given NOW. The entire time I had my eyes on this vet, he was not involved with any emergencies, nor surgeries, but seemed to be flat out clueless, even a little spaced out. After overseeing that our Boy received his injection, was in a crate, and semi stable, he remained there approximately 3 hours. Wanting to make sure he's stable before the 2 1/2 hour transport to A&M, I arrive to pick our boy up after 3 hours to let the pain injection set in real well. I go to check him out, and to our dismay, they've decided to put an array of charges on our bill that should not have been. An ICU charge for 24 hrs, charged me for 12 X-rays, when only one was done, started to do more work before I got there which I caught in time that was going to be added to the bill. Again remember, my instructions given to the clinic was to ONLY X-ray, and administer pain medication, nothing else. What was given to me was a credit card block from the clerk, telling me to insert my card in the amount of $699. I was beyond livid!! They REFUSED to give me our cat. I know at this point, time is of the essence in order for our cat to survive. They wanted me to apply for a card, and insisted I pay this, even though I had never authorized, nor agreed to what they allegedly said they did, Or I was not going to get our sweet boy. My daughter was distraught, we are both crying, and to go a step further they try and have my minor high school daughter apply with her savings account #, and rting# so they can charge her account for the $699, and an additional $25 to debit her account. This seemed to be their way to try and manipulate away of us approving unauthorized charges as they hold our cat hostage. I asked for management. As she is reviewing these bogus charges, even stating our Boy had only been there for 3 hours. There's more....We were accessed emergency hour rates, clearly 8:30am on a weekday doesn't seem after hours. She said when I had dropped him off I had signed an authorization. That was never true!! And she asked the clerk if there had been an authorization form, where that was finally admitted to, that they could not produce. We have now been delayed an hour, the only way we could get our boy to lifesaving help was if we overpaid this bill. So, for the 1 X-ray, exam , and pain injection I had specifically told them to do, they would not release him unless I paid them $387.55. Had to get him on his way, so I begrudgingly paid that ridiculous amount. His life is on them if we lose him. I was clear on that! My kids and I have made it finally to A&M, and back, now laying here at 12:49AM waiting for updates., hoping and praying he will pull through. Because of their GREED, and apathetic ways, we can only pray we weren't too late getting him there. No one and I sincerely from the bottom of my heart mean No One, should go through the cold callousn

We are new to New Braunfels and ended up needing to have one of our cats seen urgently because she had blood in her urine and was going out of her litter box. They got me in SAME day , were so kind, explained her diagnosis in a way I could understand and now two weeks later with meds and a food change, she is perfectly fine! Their prices are reasonable and their doctors and staff are incredible. Moving to a new city and finding new doctors, vets, ect is never easy, but I am so thankful we have found our vet! We will take all of our animals here without question.

I have used for 13 years and have received better than average service. Since the new owners it has consistently gotten worse. The only reason I keep coming back is because of Dr. Lambert and Ariel. But after this last visit 8-25-2020 I am a going to pursue other Vet care. Costly and do not not listen are explain fees before hand.

I recently changed vets. My former vet office had changed into a vet that would like increased income, and would require a animal visit before certain things could be processed, as before were a little more lenient about some matters. Anyway, I called and made an appointment here, and they were able to see me relatively soon, which was impressive based on their reputation. As social distancing is a standard now, when I arrived with my pet, I called to notify the office as instructed. We waited in the car, until it was Willie's turn. They called me when they were on their way out to get him. They took him in for his visit. Poor baby was apprehensive because he didn't want to leave me, not to mention it was a new place. Everyone was friendly and very cautious. The staff are truly compassionate towards the animals and it shows. The vet called me after he examined him and was very thorough. I made payment over the phone. The next day, the staff called me to see how Willie was doing, which was really nice. After this pleasant experience, I decided to move all 6 of my pets to CanyonVet!.

I love Canyon Vet. I know that I am very picky about where my animals go and the vets that they see. I judge a vet by how knowledgeable s/he is. How open minded they are about different approaches. If they are offended by questions or offended if you want to know more before making a decision. How well they relate not just to your pet but to you also. How clean their facility is. Do they seem to push expensive testing all the time? I also judge the vet techs and front desk people. I have been going to Canyon Vet now for many years. Dr. Leakey and the other vets are very knowledgeable and so often will diagnose without expensive tests. I have no doubt that if a test is suggested then it is needed. They are 100% open to questions and often will give you on line links about a disease so that you can know more about it and make the best decision for your animal. My animals love Dr. Leakey and actually get excited to see him. I have been to the clinic many times and have gone in the back when no one knew that I would need to. The front and back are always clean and fresh smelling. The kennels are always clean. The vet techs and front desk people are always friendly and helpful. besides all of the above I have found this vet clinic to go above what is required. For instance when my dog was bitten by a rattlesnake Dr. Leakey ended up taking her home with him that night so he could watch her and start antivenin if needed. That is going above and beyond for sure. I cannot recommend this clinic enough. I would not go anywhere else.

First off this is long over due. My wife and I have 3 Bulldogs. Trust me when I say we have been to MANY vets. Dr.Leaky and his staff are by far the best we have experienced. We have experienced some good ones so that is saying a lot. I have had an appointment when it was super busy and chaotic and the ladies were superb. Even amongst the chaos I was treated with kindness and not forgotten about. They are a well oiled machine and VERY kind. They LOVE our babies! Dr. Leaky (and the other vets) have been able to solve problems with our kiddos that others have not been able to. Dr. Leaky has gone above and beyond and to top it off he is one amazing human being. I trust every vet he has working there. They are truly a family and It shows. They check up on your pups a few days after appointments and make a sure all is well. I would not recommend any other vet in this area, not because others are not capable, but because from top to bottom Canyon vet has the best customer service hands down. I can't stress enough how amazing the staff if. The vet techs are awesome and really enjoy what they do. Thank you Canyon Lake Vet, you are simply the best!

We were clients for over a decade. The clinic has become a closed circuit of care. No answering service no message now can be left for next day appointment. We are not able to schedule an online appointment either, it doesn't work. Notices sent for unneeded care. No consistency in care. No multiple pet vaccine record coordination despite multiple requests for more than one pet. Be prepared to make multiple trips. Recently dismissed for complaining about erratic confused vet techs. We have spent thousands for animal care and now they could care less. Vet charges are twice as much and no one seems to be able to maintain pet records or appointments. If you complain you're gone. They have become a heartless business not a caring pet center. No emergency care! What a shame because Dr. Leakey is a great vet! Even the vet technicians who no longer work there concur with the above comments!! Guess it's very true that they grew too big for their breeches!
