Comal Park is a large, well-maintained park located on the south shore of Canyon Lake near Startzville. Covering 116 acres, it offers a variety of recreational activities and amenities, making it a popular spot for families and visitors. The park features picnic sites, restrooms, a playground, and areas for swimming with a sand and pea gravel beach. There are two boat ramps, a sand volleyball court, soccer goals, and washer pits for additional fun. Visitors can enjoy scenic trails and open spaces for various activities. The park is open from March 1 to October 31, with hours varying by month, and operates on a first-come, first-served basis during the season. While the park is highly praised for its amenities and upkeep, some visitors note that the lake level is often low, affecting access to the water and the distance from parking to the beach. Carrying supplies like kayaks, paddleboards, or large groups can be challenging due to the walk from the parking lot. Despite this, many find it to be a great place for a day trip, bringing their own food, drinks, tents, and canopies to enjoy a full day outdoors. Overall, Comal Park is considered an excellent spot for swimming, picnicking, and outdoor fun, with the lake’s water level being the main factor outside the park’s control.
It wasn't the blue hole, but it was okay. The county, city, or state definitely needs to mow the area from the parking lot down to the water. Lot of tall grass, weeds, and stickers. Was not appealing.

No entry fee, they charged only parking fee - $20. But be prepared to be in the long line for the entry.
