I was given four cats to try to rehome that were found in my friends house that they just bought. I called the day before I showed up at the shelter asking if I could bring the cats and they said that I could. I just had to bring proof of address. I showed up with the cats. The staff then argued with me that because they were found in somebody else’s house, that they ( the cats) became their property that the other person had to come ( the other people in college students, and not available to come in. During their opening hours). secondary to the fact that unless they consented to adopting the cats, purchasing a house in which cats are does not make them the owner of said cat. In fact, I consented to going and picking them up from my friends house so that I could rehome them, which makes me more responsible for the cats than the person who bought the house . They then tried to guilt me when I said I had nowhere else to take the cats so I just have to dump them somewhere. Telling me that that would be on me and that would be my responsibility because I didn’t do the responsible thing. despite the fact that I did rehome one cat and tried to bring these three to the shelter but I didn’t do the responsible thing? then it wouldn’t be my responsibility for what happened to them even though they said they would take them? I have nowhere else to put them. I can’t take them back home. The people who took the fourth cat can’t have them either because they live in an apartment. I can’t take them I have two unfixed cats and live in an apartment that limits how many animals you can have. the home of the people who moved into the house, have 2 unfixed cats. Again They tried to guilt me into taking somebody else’s cats who they possibly abandoned and keeping them after telling me they would take them. This place is morally bankrupt because as they said, if the other person didn’t come in, they’d have to go out and investigate . well first of all the people who moved into the house didn’t own the animals so going out to that house and investigating wouldn’t do anything. they don’t have the contact information for the previous owner and there’s no guarantee the previous owner of the house is the owner of the cats. Cats have been known to sneak into and hide in peoples garages and attics if there is an opening. Second of all what are they going to investigate? Three cats were brought in that didn’t have a home. The previous owners of the house were an elderly couple and the people who live there now are at work during their hours of operation or at school, so who are they going to talk to?

We adopted a kitten about 3 months ago. He’s the best boy ever! Our problem is that when we took him to the free vet visit they told us he had fleas. We felt so bad and got him on flea prevention. We were confused because we assumed the shelter provided medications for the animals. Most shelters do so they don’t spread and cause worse situations. Of course he got Tapeworms for having the fleas for god knows how long at that point. Now we’re having to pay for stool sample test and who knows what else once we get the results back. Please know that your animal may have fleas and if they consume those said fleas they can contact tapeworms and it’s been a hassle. The Dallas animal shelter takes care of everything so why don’t all? The photo is the tapeworm fragments we found in his bed and a photo of him!

Vanessa is a blessing!! She helped my dog and I from an unexpected lay-off. Thanks to Vanessa and all the good people who donate here, my dog which I've had for more than 12 years, remains healthy and happy. They'll make efforts that animals don't live (or die) in cages, but rather in loving environments. Great dog park, too! Carrollton is awesome!

Went to pick up my cat after him being gone for 3 weeks my cat was traumatized and filthy. He’s full of worms and is sick now when he was a perfectly healthy cat. He is now coughing and sneezing up mucus his nails are overgrown too where he can barely do biscuits and all he does is meow. When walking in the dogs cages were clean and nice but the cats were filthy it smelled real bad and my cat had feces everywhere including his feet. This place is hot for cats I would not recommend this place for anyone’s cat

Friendly and caring people with the love for all fur babies. If you're looking to adopt or for a new friend, stop in and see all the smiling faces that would love to have you for their new parents.

These people think they the police or something trying to intimidate. All they do I harass and harass more. Cited me for no registration on my dogs and rabies shots. Took the proof to them and ate them up. And they still thinking they can intimidate. Haha they make me laugh so much specially when they look stupid and goofy on my ring cameras.

I rescued a puppy from here, she was 2 and a half months old and had been spayed the day before. Her medical paperwork indicated she was prescribed medication for inflammation and pain, but they never gave it to her and didn't give it to me when I adopted her. As a result of that, he incision was leaking and he tummy was really swollen. I took her to a vet to make sure she didn't have an infection, but I have to keep her isolated until the surgery heals so I can get her vaccinated. She's had no vaccinations and has been at risk since I got her.

There’s a reason they won’t let you bring your phone in the building. Adopted a cat there that had one eye. He had gotten so sick there he literally scratched his own eye out. Understandably because they will let you get the cats out on your own and let them walk around the cat room. Cats can spread germs so easily to each other.Multiple dogs were shoved in small cages together and some were sitting in puddles or poop. They will let you take the dogs to the “poop covered play area” all by yourself.Besides the poor care the women in the front were very rude and just sat around talking to each other. Would adopt there again just to rescue the animals. It’s barely a shelter and it’s understood why they don’t call it a rescue.

I got a puppy from the shelter he’s a sweet puppy but had a lot of emotional issues for one he would not go potty or number 2 outside, even though we spent several hours outside, when I took him back the staff was really rude and didn’t even try to understand or hear about his issues, asked about if they would put the money back on my card and she pretty much ignored me. I will never recommend them as the staff is horrible

Happy dog! Yeah, bad picture because he wanted to watch out the back window. Currently adoption fees are waved on large dogs. Melissa was very friendly and helpful.
