We set up an appointment with Tax Prep & More in early April. Efrain was generally helpful and handled our filing during our appointment. It was a bit pricey at $300, but I’m not really griping about that here.
My ex wife noticed that information I had provided Efrain previously appeared incorrect and she suggested she go home to retrieve paperwork to verify or correct it. Efrain assured us that he could still file and even if that information was incorrect, we could just provide the information later and he could correct it without it creating any issues.
My ex wife called their office the next day and provided the information in question so they could confirm, or correct the info, if needed. We considered the issue closed at that time.
As I mentioned above, I must take responsibility for providing the incorrect information in the first place. However, my ex wife caught it during our appointment and suggested we verify/correct it right then. I can only assume Efrain wasn’t interested in waiting for her to retrieve the correct info because of how confidently he presented his stance that there would be no issue and sent us on our way. Alternatively, if he wasn’t just being flippant with a new client’s concerns, he doesn’t understand enough of how the IRS works to know this would be a major issue. Neither instance is really a great look for him.
On top of his insistence that the information could be corrected later if needed, the correct information *was* provided the day after our appointment. While I wasn’t on the call between my ex wife and the receptionist, it makes much more sense that the correct information was provided and either somehow fumbled within their office or there was never an opportunity to correct the info to begin with.
I received an email from their office on May 20 stating that our filing had been rejected due to (you guessed it) the exact information we efforted to verify/correct back in April. My ex wife then went to their office and physically provided the information needed. Again, I wasn’t present, but she told me Efrain, again, assured her that there was still no problem that would result in negative ramifications.
A few days later, the IRS took an amount from my account that was $1,091 *more* than the amount Efrain told us we owed during our consultation back in April Additionally, we received a letter from the IRS stating that we had been assessed penalties summing to over $1,000 for not properly filing and thus, still had a balance owed that was accruing interest, daily.
We set up an appointment with Efrain immediately and he basically denied any responsibility in the matter whatsoever. We asked him why the IRS took out more than the amount he provided in April. He skirted this accusation by saying the amount that was taken from my account matched the amount in final paperwork we received after filing. Again, I now have to take responsibility for not initially noticing that the amount he told us did not match what was shown on the paperwork. However, it’s extremely annoying that he told us one number, but then immediately provided paperwork that depicted a different number. I *know* he provided us the incorrect number because literally during the consultation in April, my ex wife Venmo’d me half of the total amount he said we owed and I gave Efrain my account info so that the total would be removed from my account (and my wife reimbursed me half).
We also confronted him about the penalties assessed and reminded him that he assured us there would be no problems and his excuse was literally just kind of shrugging and saying something along the lines of “oh well there’s no way to know what will and won’t be accepted” or some BS like that.
We sat in silence in his office for a few moments and when I started gathering up the paperwork he just stood up and left his desk without saying a word…so we left the office and are now

Mr. Ramirez prepared and filed my 2022 taxes with no apparent issues so I returned to his office for my 2023 filing. I dropped off my paperwork in early March and returned for my in-person appointment on the 26th. Mr. Ramirez had completed and filed both my federal and Oklahoma state taxes so I paid for the service and went on my way. Upon further inspection of my tax filing, I discovered a substantial mistake in the amount of my taxable income so I returned to his office and asked him to correct the problem. After several unproductive calls as the tax deadline approached I went to see Mr. Ramirez and he quickly recalculated my tax filing and theoretically corrected his mistakes on my federal filing and he assured me that there was no need to change my OK state filing. I didn’t feel comfortable with the outcome so I consulted an online tax filing company to double check the numbers. My federal tax return seemed to be accurate but my OK return was still not correct. After multiple attempts to contact Mr. Ramirez over 6 weeks, I finally got him on the phone and after explaining my concerns, he used profanity towards me and told me not to call his office again.
This is a terrible example of how to operate a business. I would never recommend using Tax Prep and More or Mr. Ramirez for any service!

I filed my income at Tax Prep. It was my first time coming here. I had a great experience with Efrain, he is very professional and friendly. He knows what he's doing. He has a lot of experience. I have been using Tax Prep, and More for my personal income tax accounting since 2010. They are the only people I call and trust with my tax questions, tax returns, and other accounting services. They give you the personal touch you will not receive at H&R Block, or Liberty tax. It’s a small business, the heart and make up of America, with 3 locations in Dallas, Tx, and growing but not at the risk of losing that personal touch that makes them so great. You don’t have to live in the Dallas area to utilize their services but it certainly helps. They offer bilingual services, they are friendly, clean, and ultra organized. No question is considered d*** by their staff, and they have an easy way of explaining stuff making it clear and understood.Choosing Tax Prep and more is a good choice. They have always treated me right. They will treat you right you as well.Chris C.

Mr. Ramirez is a professional that knows his stuff well. He made time for us to explain something we were worried about.
