I really really wanted to be able to give a better review for my experience, but I hope maybe it helps others or maybe influences change.I had a stray cat end up in my yard injured and my vet was closed but recommend A&M on the voicemail. I called and told them my situation with the cat and was told they had a Good Samaritan program that could possibly help. I told them I would be willing to take the cat back and release it on my property. A wonderful girl, Liz, told me I could either sign over my rights or I could wait for them to check the cat and then decide if I wanted to pay and take the cat. I thought this is great.I get to A&M with the injured stray and the 2 at the front desk told me Liz was wrong and I would not be able to know anything about the cat if I sign the rights away and I would not be able to wait and see what was wrong. If I wanted to know anything I had to pay $250 for walking in the door for “emergency fee”. I was shocked at this. I was willing to pay for the cat and take it back and release him, but I wanted to know what was wrong. They essentially said, “pay $250 and then we will let you know. Otherwise sign away your right and we determine the future of the cat which if he doesn’t qualify for the program he will be put down, if he does we send him to a shelter, but you can’t have him back”.IDK, I could be completely wrong thinking this was insane, but I really thought more from A&M than this type of treatment and lack of options. I was trying to help an injured animal and potentially take all financial responsibility, but you not willing to tell me anything about the injuries without agreeing to take full responsibility is awful. It’s like you all care more about money than helping animals and people who are trying to be good humans.Long story short….called my vet (Boonville Animal Hospital) told them the story and got him in for $75 emergency appointment and after 5 days of care and treatment, he’s thriving.

Amazing staff. We make the drive from Dallas to bring our dog here because they are so well versed in everything. They have been able to correctly diagnose and treat our dogs complicated cases.

They were the last resort for our Maddie. She had to have her spleen removed and we were referred by our vet. This is a remarkable place with remarkable people producing remarkable results. Thank you to all of the doctors and support staff.

They misdiagnosed my dog in the emergency department and told me I had to pay $4,000 or she “wouldn’t make it through the night” when in reality her diagnosis was completely wrong and I ended up spending ANOTHER $2000 at other vets to actually cure her.. DONT GO HERE!!

Hands down the BEST veterinary care in central Texas! Compassion. Care. Empathy. Knowledge! I would highly recommend TAMU Small Animal Hospital.

Took my dog in because an animal attacked her, she had pretty bad wounds. Spent 2k on her to get wound care, not only did they not stitch her up but they failed to catch she had an upper GI bleed. After two weeks at home, taking care of her and her wounds healing nicely I come home to find her dead with dark, tarry stool everywhere. Thanks for nothing, will never go back or recommend. I couldn't afford a normal vet after that visit that probably would have had the single brain cell it took to realize she needed a CAT scan to catch the bleed. Now I have a broken heart and a dead best friend. I hate A&M, useless, useless, useless.

This is where you go when you live locally or.you vet is out of ideas to treat your animal.Pricing is competitive, but access to the latest technology and treatment protocols makes this a powerful option. The facility is cutting edge, and most treatments are instantly available as needed.Staff and students are exactly what you need with a sick animal, knowledgeable, compassionate, and genuinely interested in a positive outcome. It's worth seriously considering.

Last night just before 11pm, my cat sustained a four(ish) inch gash on her leg. I went to look at her, I found the wound and immediately searched for the nearest 24 hour emergency vet.A&M was the closest one, so I called them. They told me it would be $230 something to get in the door. They asked how long it would take me to get there, I told them an hour, and they said I should go somewhere else closer to me. I said there is nowhere closer. They heard me say "dog attack" and they seemed to immediately assume my cat was dying, though I told them she seemed okay except for the gash.I drove an hour through the craziest fog I've seen in years, only to sit for three hours before anyone even came to tell me what was wrong and what the game plan was. The DVM proceeded to tell me they weren't going to stitch up the "two inch gash" (which was around four inches) because bacteria needed to be able to get out of the wound... guys, I'm not a vet, but making sure bacteria don't stay/get in the wound is what wound cleaning and antibiotics are for... but they're the "experts", so I waited another two hours for them to shave her wound area, give her meds, and stitch a bandage to her.....The *DOCTOR OF VETERINARY MEDICINE* told me I needed to wait ***several days*** to have the wound stitched up and I could go to my local vet so I didn't have to come all the way back to them. She told me it would be about $700-800 for them to "treat" her.ALMOST A THOUSAND DOLLARS AND A LOST NIGHT'S SLEEP LATER, they gave me my cat back at around 5:45 am. The woman who brought her back to me told me the wound needed to be stitched in "12-18 hours", a completely different story than the one I got from the DVM. I told her my vet would be closed by then and asked if I should try to have it stitched up before the weekend... she said absolutely... that we didn't want to leave that bandage on for a long time.... ???? Why such different advice from what the DVM told me (and why did neither "solution" make a lick of sense)??We drove home only to call my vet first thing this morning. He was booked up, but he is a very caring man, so he fit her in on his lunch break!!!!! Said he'd fit her in because IT'S NOT GOOD TO LET THE WOUND GET TOO OLD BEFORE STITCHING IT UP.... the first reasonable thing I'd hears about it all. He had to trim the edges because they had already started drying and forming scar tissue!!! He charged me about the same amount to stitch her up as A&M charged me to walk through their door. Also, while I waited through the night, the staff walked around laughing loudly and joking with each other while worried pet owners sat in the waiting area. At one point, the front desk person was joking with someone on the phone about nicknames "that's what I'm gonna call you from now on... hahaha", then switched to the other line and said "Sorry about that wait, Sir." She did get me a blanket and she let me use her personal (I believe) charger which was very helpful and nice.I feel COMPLETELY taken advantage of. They made me wait an incredibly long time (got there at midnight, got home at sunrise), called what is about a four inch gash a two inch gash, didn't close it up, gave me ridiculous reasons for not closing it up and number of different stories about what needed to be done, took a thousand dollars from me, and sent me elsewhere, exhausted from not sleeping all night, to pay someone else to take care of it on his lunch break. I am so angry and sad about the level of mistreatment and incompetence I experienced... and I have no recourse because I signed documents!!!!My poor thirteen year old kitty had to be a put under full sedation twice within 24 hours and suffered hours and hours longer than was necessary and now we have a long two week journey of wound care ahead. I feel helpless. I'm one of those people who hardly ever leaves a bad review. It's usually good reviews or none from me... but

I brought my cat in a month ago and am really disappointed with the service here. My kitty had been itching from allergies, and had developed rashes and a lip ulcer. I came to A&M vet hospital to inquire about ways to help with my cat’s allergies. I also informed them that he also has gingivitis, and was seeking advise on future dental treatments. We waited one hour in the waiting room to be seen by the vet technician, before she took my cat to the back for further tests and check ups. It took them 5 HOURS to do tests and check ups on my kitty. After waiting 5 hours in the room unsure of how my cat was doing, knowing he was probably very anxious and scared, they returned him to me and instead prescribed me a medication for his gums, never addressing the issue of the allergies. I spent over $200 at the vet, and came home with the exact same issue of allergies with no solution or treatments from the vet. The medication that was prescribed for my cat left him feeling drowsy and disoriented for 8 hours, and I was instructed to give it to him twice a day. I am frustrated and confused as to why I would want my cat to be disoriented under medication every hour of the day. It also has nothing to do with helping or maintaining his allergies, and I did not get any solution for future dental treatments. I have been to multiple vets and I have never had to wait 5 hours for no help to be done on my kitty.
