I must say I feel for the residents of this small town, if this is their only convenience store option. To begin my experience, all I wished to get was a fountain drink refill in a cup I brought in. To ensure there are no misconceptions, it is an XL, 52 oz, plastic cup from QuikTrip, QT. Upon entry into the establishment the fountain it a small station with NO diet or zero sugar options, at all. This is not a complaint either, smaller/private owned convenience stores routinely do not have a diet option on the fountain. It is not uncommon or unprecedented. What this does mean is I must purchase bottled soda. Luckily I see the shining light on a cooler with 20 oz Diet Pepsi and a large static cling ad across the cooler door that all Pepsi 20oz are 2/$3.33. I grab two 20 oz bottles of Diet Pepsi and put ice from the fountain into my 52 oz cup. Let the real saga commence: When I arrive at the register the two Diet Pepsi bottles ring up at $3.70, when I point out the discrepancy in pricing between the very clear advertisement on the cooler door and the register, I am simply told the sign is wrong. No attempt made to even adjust the price to match the posted advertisement, or apologies, just simple the sign is wrong. Next...my cup, that I provided, with ice in it was $1.00...maybe $0.10 worth of ice in the whole cup but the clerk did me a favor (sarcasm implied) by lowering the price to $0.75. To return to my initial point, I feel for the people of this small town that must rely upon this store as their Convenience Mart and maybe one day Circle K, Buc-Cee, Pilot, Love's , 7-Eleven, Wal Mart or even QuikTrip will come into town to show them how a real Convenience store is about customer satisfaction, building customer loyalty and not simply gouging people for their hard earned money.
