Grow up "Floatin' The Frio" since I was just a Pup. Garner Park was part of that. Now it belongs to the next generation. Respect it / Enjoy it

This place used to be a gem. The park is unkempt, rules are not followed or enforced, and the once pristine rock beaches are overgrown, making it difficult to lounge by the beautiful river. Law enforcement is rarely seen giving undesirable elements free rein.

Here in February so the park is very quiet with only a few visitors. Most of the amenities are closed due to the season but that's okay with me. Hikes are generally short but some can be steep and Rocky (don't hike in flip flops!) Frio river was pretty and clear

Many of the places in or around the park are closed in February, but still a nice place to stay. Plus it was cold and very windy during our stay. I hope to come again in warmer weather to enjoy the river or hiking trails.Restrooms: Big and clean restrooms and showers.

I absolutely love this place and can not wait to go back!! Everything was amazing, the voew was beautiful. The place is clean, and the bathrooms are a bit of a distance depending on where you camp, but cleaner than any other park over been to. I saw a jackrabbit, crows, other birds, and fat squirrels and cats around. I am planning to come back next year for a full week. Thank you for taking such great care of this place!

First time to visit here in a 38 Renegade w/ Jeep tow in late January. Our site was in the River Frio campground. Nice area with trees. Our site was large enough for our tow vehicle as well. Sites are spaciously spaced. Very few campers this time of year. Our site was on an inner loop. It was hard to find as there are no sign pointing to the inner loop. We had to ask a ranger where the turn was. Lots of trails by the river. Very picturesque area. We made a day trip to Lost Maples State Park the drive is windy, with some hairpin tuns and beautiful views. Don't miss it when you come. Very small State Park but nice trails. AT&T varied from 10-45mbs. We wound up using our Starlink. Issues - it's a big park, lots of people in summer months equals a result, staff has attitude. Nothing major just noticeable. The Park water was turned off one day. I turned our faucet off after I noticed it. Later, I turned on another sites water faucet it blew air, then brown , then finally clear. Called and left a message to see if there was a boil notice. Still waiting for that return call. We used our tank water for the remainder of the trip.

Haven't been here since i was a kid. Didn't realize how much i missed it. Had so much fun it was unreal. Definitely go through the challenging hikes to see the caves. Its sad that people are so trashy and covered them in graffiti. However it is still worth the hike. The mini golf and ice cream among other things was closed bexar it was during the week but we shall be back on the weekend to enjoy it.

This was a great state park, was pretty slow mid week in the winter. Some great trails to hike here like Mt Baldy and Crystal cave, mostly dog friendly as well. You can explore a lot of the park in just one day, a lot of the trails are on the shorter side and the day use area is beautiful would like to swim there when it’s warmer. There were a lot of options for camping in the park as well.
