We have adopted 3 puppies from Converse. The event they put on a few weeks ago was fantastic. Audree is our favorite employee there, she really works hard and goes above and beyond.

I am extremely disappointed and concerned about the adoption practices at Converse Animal Shelter. Despite a well-documented history of animal cruelty convictions, this shelter allowed a known animal hoarder, to adopt both a puppy and a cat. This oversight is not only unacceptable but endangers the lives of these innocent animals.
It's clear that Converse Animal Shelter lacks the necessary diligence and care in their screening processes. As a community, we rely on shelters to protect and find safe homes for animals, not to place them in the hands of those with a proven record of neglect and abuse.
I strongly urge anyone considering adopting from this shelter to think twice and to seek out other reputable organizations that prioritize the well-being of their animals. This experience has been deeply troubling, and I hope that Converse Animal Shelter will take immediate action to prevent such incidents in the future.

This facility is very clean, well organized and they are very caring about animals. Some of the reviews on here don't realize they are a CITY entity. They are only allowed to pick up animals in the city you pay your taxes to. Does not matter if you live in Converse if you pay your city taxes to SA or Bexar County. Just because they don't take your pet doesn't mean they don't care. If they are full they are full, you want to talk bad about someone or post hateful things then do it about the people that are not taking care of their pets to begin with and not the facility that is doing what they can to help.

Found two pups that were abandoned. Brought them home because they needed rescuing. My husband almost divorced me because we have 3 rescues already. Staff picked up the phone at 8 and let me bring the pups in!

Went there to findnout if they could come and remove a skunk and they told me I need have my own trap i don't understand that as they said they don't have traps then what do they actually do besides take strat pets and some vet services
