Quaint little shelter with extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. Don't be deterred by the size or location (we were slightly confused about parking when we visited). We loved all of the adoptable pets we met.

I came here looking for a small dog and harry styles was just the sweetest pup. I wasn’t able to get him, but I did adore him. The lady who was showing us around introduced us to all the animals and all their personalities and even let us play with them. It was a really nice experience! (Picture is of harry styles)

They take donations !! Cash, newspapers, dog & puppy food, cat food, linens, office supplies, etc. even if you’re not looking to adopt, stop by and donate if you’re able. After seeing a post about abandoned puppies on the Nextdoor app, I reached out to the OP and found that they were dumped at CASI.Valerie (author of the Nextdoor post) was wonderful getting me in touch with Leah almost immediately. After a visit to the vet, I got to adopt & bring home our new baby. The volunteers at this shelter are kind, loving people. They care for the animals like they are their own.Don’t pass this little place up when you’re looking for your next 4 legged family member!

I had adopted a cat named Bear here and I instantly fell in love with her only for about a week after I had her she had some issues. I have 2 other cats I’ve had for years and never had issues with them and I ended up having to give her back to the shelter. Upon dropping her off in literal tears they told me “oh if you had contacted us a week ago the vet visit would’ve been on us” why didn’t you state that in the beginning? With any animal it takes time for them to adjust so I assumed the issues she was having were based off of her getting used to her new surroundings. But after 2 weeks I knew something just wasn’t right. I haven’t been able to sleep because I feel so much guilt and I wish I didn’t have to give her back. But I did what I felt was in her best interest. They told me she probably has coccidia which is easily transmittable with cats, they said if that is what she has they would give me medication for my Other cats but it still doesn’t excuse the fact that she had got this from the shelter and I brought her home with the intention of this being her forever home.

This is the shadiest shelter I have ever been to. If you are wanting to adopt a pet, don't get your heart set on it because the employees get first dibs before the animal even goes to adoption status. Then the manager says there is nothing she can do. I went in to the shelter several times wanting to adopt a particular puppy, called and even asked if we could adopt him sooner. The answer was "no" that I had to wait for him to go in to the adoption status. My 4yo daughter is heartbroken and this facility along w/ all over the employees don't even care or have an excuse as to why my information wasn't given as an option to adopt.

Meet Rosie. She followed us from a parking lot (apparently the dog dumping spot South Side Lions Park) where she had been hanging out for at least a month. No microchip. Who does this? ? A sweet, friendly, obedient, not aggressive (even with her food)lovely girl who desperately wants a family. Converse Animal Shelter accepted her despite being full, because they have HUGE hearts ? ? ♥️ ❤️ and could see someone will want her quickly. She would be a great family dog, so playful and happy! Go get her!!!!Please, can you send them 5 or 10 bucks?Yes, I did want to take her. Joey not so much. I'm still weepy.

We adopted a kitten from CASI. The staff was helpful and very knowledgeable about each cat. It was hard to decide but we found Makani to be our favorite. The application process was simple too. I’m sure they can use more donations to help animals in need.

We got two kittens last year. We stop in now and then. Play with cats. Cuddle puppies. My 7 y is welcomed and given brush told who needs a little love. It's a wonderful donation funded volunteer place. Come in and spend an hour brushing cats or walk a dog. Ez to volunteer and lots of fun.

My family and I adopted this 10 year old pit bull named “Rip” over the weekend. Seen many dogs but fell in love with him, he won us over with how sweet he was, playful and overall how gentle he was with our little ones. The facility was very clean. The staff were all very friendly, helpful in every way possible. Introducing us to him as a family, with some one on one quality time, and giving us information about his history. We are very happy, he is feeling right at home, playing, relaxing and going for walks. He is most definitely feeling the love. Very well mannered boy. Thank you! We highly recommend this place
