My deceased husband and I have used John Lister's firm for many, many years for our income tax returns. They have always taken care of our income tax returns appropriately. Our returns are complicated and this firm has handled them very well. I am very pleased with their service. You get what you pay for.

Pretty dissatisfied. First time using a professional. I was so overwhelmed doing my 2022 taxes as a first time independent contractor that I extended till this year and finally I gave in. When we had our appointment about what I was seeking for my 2022 and 2023 returns, I let them know that my goal was to have a higher return even if that meant not submitting all my expenses. Previously I had played with my numbers to see what amount $ I'd receive back, but didn't dare to submit. When John Lister Inc. completed my taxes it was a lot less than what I came up with. But I figured they knew best. I told them not to do my 2023, only 2022 because I wasn't fully convinced. When I attempted doing my 2023 taxes on my own, I played with my 2022 #'s again....once again, my numbers were still giving me a higher return. I reached out to them to review my numbers, and sure enough, I should of received a higher return. Why did it take a non-professional to figure this out? I didn't mind paying their fee for their expertise, but then they charged me another $125 to amend my return for what should have been done in the first place. I was truly disappointed. I typically pay $89 to do my taxes. I spent a total of $325 and was very unhappy with the outcome.

I was very dissatisfied with my experience at this firm. Although staff sounds and appears to be very knowledgeable, their follow-up is horrible. I called a number of times for a status over a period of three months with not one return phone call. Once I was feed up and hired another firm I requested they send my documents back. They returned my documents immediately. Not sure how customers are priorities or even provided service.

Valerie and John and any of the staff I’ve met with in the past, have been super knowledgeable, patient, helpful and pleasant. I have had investments through John and have had my taxes done in his office for over 20 years. The service has been outstanding! :)

Since the 1980s, I have chosen Lister CPA for our tax needs. Even though it's been occasional, each time I've come to appreciate their long-standing presence in our town. This year, it was a pleasure to have Valerie assist me. Her prompt attention, diligence and thoroughness in helping me tackle an issue was apparent. She could have asked me to just leave all my documents with her to go through later, but she didn't. Due to her level of knowledge and professionalism, I left my appointment feeling very confident and secure that Valerie had it all under control. It's people like her who show the Lister CPA to be a firm that's reliable and expert at what they do. Valerie is definitely a valuable asset in Lister's office, and a credit to Lister CPA.

Had an interview a couple weeks back with this establishment. Unfortunately I was fooled into thinking I had a good chance at this place of business until the owner walked into the interview last minute. Immediately I felt the atmosphere change when Mr. Lister walked in. As a woman of color I believe I was just a “diversity candidate.” I am glad I didn’t receive the job as a payroll clerk, as I feel I would not have fit in with the “culture” there. I felt extremely uncomfortable and doubtful when I walked out of this place. Funny thing is, me and my husband were thinking about coming here regarding our finances but after this experience, it’s a hard no.
