My son and I called on different occasions to see about having a transmission on a ford focus looked at and possibly replaced, the people we spoke to were really rude and acted as if they didn’t need our business. Not sure if they were backed up with work or having a bad day but it was unnecessary. It’s really hard to find a decent place in corpus who treat people with dignity and respect while maintaining integrity.

My truck was having issues shifting from 3rd to 4th gear. Discussed with them what timeframe and projected price might be for a rebuilt transmission. Issue was solved by replacing a speed sensor that came out to much less than what I was preparing for when you're talking transmission work.
Work was completed in a very timely manner with great communication along the way.

I have never been here before but I was test driving a 2000 Honda Accord from a car dealership I took it to O'Reilly's for the check engine light O'Reilly's on Saratoga. The gentleman who worked there told me about this place greatstate transmission. I bought the car after all about a week later I called this place just to get it diagnosis he told me he was going to be 475.00 dollars. That's just to get a diagnosis show me that's pretty pricey. Now I'm not saying anything bad about this place if you could afford it it's up to you.

They're fine, I'm thankful that we were able to get our car fixed at the worst timing. We had to get our entire transmission replaced and it cost us around 6k, so that was rough for our family, and we were out of town. But Jim was able to take our car in and help us out. The car is fine transmission wise. The only problem is that when they were working our our transmission, they forgot to connect a hose or two back and so it was affecting our engine. And a little strange, but we had a blue Mitsubishi, and our front bumper was black when we got the car back. I told my husband that it looked different, but I can't tell for sure what happened. Maybe the color faded over the years and I just now noticed, I don't know. But either way, I dont want to say anything bad, because they definitely did replace our transmission and it's fine, and Jim is a nice guy. But the hose wasn't double checked and put back in. Probably an honest mistake, and I think it would be good to just double check everything before leaving.

Please beware of the practices this business conducts in rebuilding your transmission. They claim to be honest and full of integrity, but sadly, that's not true. I have a 2013 Ford Escape that was experiencing some slipping in the transmission. They gave me a quote of $5400 to rebuild it. They lowered it down to just over $5000 for me. When the car was completed, I drove it noticing that the car didn't have the power it did before I brought it in. I drove my car to their location and everything was working great, just some slipping when you switch gears, from drive to reverse. When I brought it in for the two week inspection. I informed them what was happening. They ran diagnostics and gave me a few codes that needed to be addressed. The transmission was fine. I addressed the codes which required me to replace high pressure fuel pump, waste gate actuator and fuel sensors. One day I pulled into Stripes and my car wouldn't start. I had it towed to a mechanic who discovered the starter bolts were loose. He tightened them and I continued to drive my car. The car had very poor performance. I took the car to a mechanic shop who discovered the turbo hose was disconnected, which explained why my engine was revving up high RPMs with no performance. Then the car developed a loud clattering sound. When I took it back to them, they told me it was the AC compressor.
I took it to another mechanic shop who discovered that my flex plate(fly wheel) was broken.
They contacted Great State and they did repair it for me at no charge.
About 8 months later, I noticed smoke coming out of my engine. I pulled over and noticed transmission oil leaking. I parked my car and had it towed to Great State. I figured I'm ok, I have a 3 year warranty.
I get a call from Jim informing me that my heater core ruptured and that coolant had mixed with my transmission fluid. It wasn't covered under warranty and now I have to pay $2759 to get it fixed.
I had a mechanic call them for me and Jim gave him a completely different story.
I showed up on site a little later and Jim gave me a completely new story.
Turns out, they made a decision to put the original transmission cooler back into my vehicle with a newly built transmission.
They charged me $75 to flush out the old 10 yr old part, instead of buying a brand new part which costs less than $100.
They knew that it is possible for that part to fail and cause catastrophic damage to the transmission.
These people have done nothing but make excuses and place blame on others never accepting responsibility or holding themselves accountable for their work.
That's what they call honesty and integrity.
They prey on the weak.
Beware of these WOLVES who prey on SHEEP!
I'm out over $10,000 from taking my vehicle there.
This should have been a WARRANTY ISSUE, but instead I had to pay $2759 for their mistake.
If you use them, make sure that they replace the transmission cooler and flex plate.
I called around and talked to other shops and they all tell me that the transmission cooler should ALWAYS be replaced when you rebuild your transmission.
Ford says it's IMPERATIVE that the transmission cooler be replaced when rebuilding your transmission to insure you don't have a failure that would damage transmission internals.
They try to blame me that I over heated my vehicle, when my vehicle has never over heated. They based it from me having a funnel and coolant in my vehicle.
I did have to add fluid when my car told me of low coolant.
I never had a leak. But, they did tell me I had a pin hole leak in my heater hose and that it was going to cost $570 to replace.
I understand parts wear out, so do they. So, WHY DIDN'T THEY REPLACE THE 10 YR OLD TRANSMISSION COOLER?
This is just a warning to all you people out there. I'm not saying not to use them, I'm just warn

Jim is a great guy for sure.. Derek and the rest of the owners.. and lying scumbags!!! Be aware corpus Christi your transmissions are not completely being rebuilt to reusing half of your stuff that's in there and only replacing what needs to be fixed.. Even when your warranty kicks in they replace the parts with used parts you guys will never know that but I do... Derek is a joke!!! This place is not where honesty and an integrity is...

I came in from out of town and my F150 Eco Boost started running funny … I knew it could possibly to be my trans, I had 104,000 miles on it, I called the next morning Jim was awesome told me to bring it in, he reassured me they’d get the diagnostics done and let me know as soon as they had that and then if I had any repairs that my diagnostics would’ve be free, he called me that evening that I needed a torque converter … I approved the service and the very next day I picked up my truck!!! This is one of THE BEST place to take your vehicle for any transmission issue! They figured out exactly what was wrong and got my truck fixed FAST! I couldn’t be more than Thankful to Jim and the service techs for taking care of me and my Truck! I've had routine maintenance and minor repairs on all of my vehicles here, and they've always been great. One of my work trucks was in need of a new transmission, so I called around, and even other shops said Greatstate would be the best option because I wanted a fully built badass towing machine. So far, it has been absolutely amazing! 100× better than the sorry excuse of a transmission it had prior. Jim Anders has been extremely helpful the entire time. I had a whole list of questions and requests. He walked me through the different options and pricing for them.

My truck started having issues on my way back from laredo tx, couldn't find the problem but my OD light was flashing and Trans error on my display, I figured it was my transmission going out. Thinking the worst and the money to fix it was on my mind. I called Greatstate and they diagnosed it to only being a cut wire. These guys are magnificent and saved me from misery. Thks Greatstate Transmission for the quick fix...Will definitely recommend ?
