Plenty of good items to search thru here… didn’t get many pics in but I spent about an hour there with my kids… of course they came out with tons of noodles … popping pearls and a variety of other snacks … prices were reasonable and I walked away with a few items myself… I don’t really know what the labels say … but they looked interesting so I’ll let you know what they are once I open them…. The hot Cheetos from china were fire tho!! That’s a fact…

The store itself is kind of run-down looking with poor lighting and very quiet, but the selection is very surprising. You'd really be surprised at all the things you can find here if you dig hard enough. Almost every time I came with a niche request, they had it somewhere in their freezer that you just gotta dig through or the aisles - pork feet, clams, and quite importantly pork belly to make the crispy bbq pork belly thit heo quay. I come here for the head-on shrimp (you have to pick through the unfresh ones, there are a good amount of freshly defrosted good ones), Sichuan peppercorns, and niche Asian produce that I think only Hong Kong market has in all of Corpus Christi: lotus root, Chinese chives, winter melon, pomelo, and Thai chili sold in bulk (by the lb) rather than pre-packaged. If you're looking for an Asian sauce, they will have it most likely. The fresh noodles in the refrigerator look really good and tempting, but I've never had a need for them. I recommend trying. Sometimes, and I have no idea when, they get shipments of very large blue crabs. One time I just happened to come in when the shipment probably arrived earlier that day, and the crabs were huge, like 8 inches, and even though I prefer to catch them myself, I still bought 4. Better deal than Paul's Seafood. It's really rare though.
Some cons: there have been a few instances where the prices were different between the register and the shelf label. In fact, it's quite difficult to actually find the price at all on the shelf since many aren't labeled. I do not recommend the frozen seafood or frozen packaged foods like dumplings. They're all too old. A lot of other reviews say they are expired, but that's not accurate. They are past their "best-by" date, which is not expired, but definitely they are not fresh. Many of the frozen packaged foods are months after the "best-by" date and so even though they are safe, they don't taste good anymore and not worth it to buy.
Sometimes I'm a bit concerned about the financial health of the store as it seems like it's dying. The employees' tired and indifferent (not rude) attitudes make it seem that way as well. The younger tall Chinese man at the register is willing to find products that you can't find, he's a decent help. But I can't help but feel like business is not as good here. I always try to come for my niche produce when the rare occasion I need them arises, or the head-on shrimp, but who knows how long this place will last? There would be nowhere else to get a lot of those things. I hope they do some major remodeling/interior beautification so that business is reinvigorated. It seems like they just replaced their cabinet refrigerators on the left, which are also illuminated well, so that's a good start. Now with V-mart on the loose with a completely fresh freezer section, the competition has increased for sure.
