I was in the store today and was greatly disappointed as the prices were very high, there will no longer be a Wednesday, 50% discount, the jewelry was excessively high, prices were as high as $500.00 and no discounts on jewelry, furniture, etc. on Wednesday's as in the past. This was especially disappointing as we are in the Christmas season. I am surprised as this is a Christian organization benefiting people. A lot of the customers that shop go because they cannot afford the conventional stores, and some of the merchandise is more expensive than Walmart and other stores and the condition of the clothes are not worth the cost, in other words they are not "gently worn". I called other Salvation Armies in other cities and they all said they were not going to take off the 50% Wednesday off, and they have other days that they have discounts. They were surprised that this was going on in Corsicana.

Making donations of items can be difficult. The time for donations is limited and if you work M-F the options are even more limited. You can get stuck if people pull in behind you since it is not a pull through. That being said, the Salvation Army works hard in our community to help people in many ways. That is why I still donate to them even when it is not convenient.

I run a small nonprofit and have recommended people to go to Salvation Army to get electric help but I won't any longer. I referred someone to go there to get a little bit of electric help and the application required an extensive amount of time and about $40 in fees for printing off material to get only a small amount of help too late for them to even take. They were approved for the application before the due date of the bill even after having to go up there three times to provide more and more paperwork that was not even asked for in the application. Then when they finally say they would call and pay around $200 on an $800 bill it's too late to help even though the application was turned in before the due date. This person brought a stack of paperwork so big it looks like a novel and they sent her back multiple times to get more. Unfortunately it seems if you're desperate they try to keep you away with this extensive application. And if you're able to complete it it will be worth too little too late. My tiny local nonprofit will pick up this bill because this corporate nonprofit Giant has made it impossible to get their assistance. For anybody that's read this far please check out these nonprofit before donating because some like this one are not worth it. Find a local one that helps people in your area
