March 2024 by Justin Baik
I am deeply saddened to share that my beloved dog, Lulu, passed away on March 22, 2024. Lulu was a beautiful soul, full of kindness and love. Unfortunately, she experienced significant pain following a cataract surgery performed at this clinic, which I believe contributed to her passing. In the days leading up to her final moment, Lulu, who normally loved her meals, stopped eating entirely. My poor baby tragically dropped in weight from 9.3 pounds to 7.3 pounds within just two days. Beginning the day after her surgery, she exhibited alarming symptoms: excessive drinking, constant sleeping, an inability to stand, and she couldn't even lift her head. We reported these symptoms to Dr. Ring the following day, only to be reassured that such post-operative behavior was normal. As her condition worsened, we reached out to Dr. Ring's office multiple times, only managing to speak directly once and that too, not with Dr. Ring but with a technician. Despite our concerns, we were repeatedly told everything was normal and that her discomfort was due to dislike of the neck collar, affecting her mobility. This explanation didn't hold, as Lulu's mobility issues persisted even without the collar. In a desperate attempt to seek another opinion, we found ourselves unable to secure an appointment with another vet due to full schedules. When we pleaded with Dr. Ring's office for an urgent consultation, the response was dismissive; we were advised to seek help elsewhere despite our inability to find available appointments.Ultimately, we had no choice but to take Lulu to an emergency vet. After hours of suffering, my sweet Lulu passed away, with me by her side the entire time.We sought cataract surgery for our beloved dog because her joy in life was playing with balls, something she hadn't been able to enjoy due to her deteriorating eyesight. Our deepest wish was to see her playfully chasing balls once again, just like she used to. It's profoundly saddening that she never had the chance to engage in her favorite activity even once after the surgery, up until her passing. Following Dr. Ring's advice, we refrained from allowing her to play for six weeks, a directive aimed at her recovery. However, had I known the tragic outcome this decision would lead to, I would have chosen differently. The thought that she missed out on her cherished pastime in her final days is utterly heartbreaking. This experience has led me to urge others to carefully consider their options before proceeding with treatments at this clinic. The lack of attention and care from the medical staff here has left me heartbroken, feeling that they prioritize financial gain over the well-being of our cherished pets. Please, think twice to avoid potentially facing the devastating loss of your beloved companion.I'm painfully aware that no review I write will bring my beloved Lulu back to me. The deep sorrow in my heart remains unassuaged. I firmly believe that if Dr. Ring's office had taken seriously any of the numerous questions and concerns I brought to them, Lulu might still be with us. Even a single examination or a moment of genuine attention could have made a difference. My trust in this vet eye specialist weighs heavily on me with regret. While Dr. Ring is an eye specialist, she did not hesitate to remove a growing cyst on my dog’s tail, stepping beyond her specialty when it suited her. Yet, when I sought basic veterinary care like fluid support or cerenia, she declined, citing it was outside her scope. This inconsistency troubles me deeply. I find myself unable to sleep, haunted by a continuous replay of guilt for having taken her to Dr. Ring. How could my Lulu be seen merely as a product? I've yet to encounter a vet who truly places the welfare of pets first. To me, Lulu is a family, not a product.

I can’t imagine what it would have been like to navigate my dogs loss of vision due to sudden onset glaucoma. Dr. Ring is amazing and really helped me to make the right decisions to care for my dog. Although it was too late for her vision to be restored, the painful glaucoma has been managed through surgical and pharmaceutical intervention, giving my dog relief and a better quality of life.

Worst experience ever, the moss my cats diagnosis of FIP and he almost die. The vet did not even look the bloodwork the first time, even when it he starting having complications (vomiting, diarrhea, congested, sneezing) and she still was not caring. I do not recommend this place at all. Go and look for a better place to take your pet.

15/10 recommend this place! Was referred here by a breeder for a second opinion on my pets eyes and asked specifically for Dr. Munger. Him and the ENTIRE staff were so nice, helpful, informative, thorough, etc.I will definitely be back for her rechecks yearly!

I scheduled an appointment and the initial one was with Dr. Ratner. After reviewing my dog, she said he's a great candidate for cataract surgery and she'd definitely do it if he were her dog. So, I got excited he'd be able to have vision (we adopted him blind). We scheduled the screening, which we were initially told he'd probably be done around 11 because he was the only dog. A couple of days before the appointment they confirmed he was still the only dog on the schedule. The day of, they tell my wife that he'd be ready around 1 PM. 1 comes and they say maybe 2. Finally, she's checking out around 2:30. The doctor who "trained Dr. Ratner" did the screening, and said his right eye is too bad to be able to do the surgery, and we'd have to schedule another appointment in a few weeks to re-check his left eye. It sounds like inexperience and incompetence just cost us hundreds of dollars and a lot of hope. I'd avoid this place if possible.

I'm very disappointed in the type of service provided for my Otto. My husband took him for an evaluation and we were told one thing during that appointment, then we schedule for a second appointment and we are told something completely different. I felt there was misguided information being passed on from one doctor to another.

Dr. Nettune is patient, takes time to explain things, and very conservative about recommending surgery prematurely. When the time is right, he does extensive testing to help assure success before proceeding.

Impressive customer service and knowledge.Grew up around animals. And vets. In fact, when the closest doc is 90 miles away, we'd often ask the vet's opinion first. But Animal Ophthalmology - Dallas and Dr. Nettune are a notch above. One of my hounds developed a potential issue with his eye. I took him in. The team treated him like royalty. They explained the issue in words I understand and came up with a treatment plan. They've earned my business for life.

What a great experience for me and my pup! Our Boxer had a tear in his cornea and had to have a prophylactic contact inserted. Dr Ring made it no big deal! Did it right there! He healed in no time and is good as new. I expected to have to rob a bank to pay the bill but no so! Very reasonably priced. Thanx Dr Ring!

This clinic is great. The staff are friendly and personable. The vet tech we worked with was very kind, listened to our concerns, asked probing questions, and was very helpful. Our doctor was also great, she has direct experience with the issue our dog has, was very helpful in first steps, next steps if needed, and lots of options to help.

Dr. Munger is amazing! Several years ago our pug had an eye injury. It was the weekend. I found Dr. Munger online and called the emergency number. He returned my call and I explained what was going on with my dog's eye. He asked us to bring him in for surgery and would meet us at the clinic with his team. Dr. Munger performed the surgery, explained everything and walked us through what to expect. He continued to see our pug and evaluate his progress post surgery. Dr. Munger did a great job on our pug. We are incredibly thankful for Dr. Munger.

Brought our cat back for his one year check-up, after being treated for cancer. The doctors and staff are great, and treated our cat with great care.

Dr. Nettune is the best ophthalmologist. Our rescue brings in lots of cats and kittens with various eye problems and he is always able to treat them.

Extremely disappointed in the level of care from this group including the vet Dr Ring. First visit and it was an unwelcoming environment from the minute i walked in the door. For specialists, it was discomforting to watch them coldly doing things to my cat while not even taking a moment to express any empathy or explanation for what they were doing. Check out was a negative experience with the person behind the desk seemingly annoyed by having to check me out.Follow up to get a zero invoice with a basic description of the services on the invoice for insurance was met with annoyance and a can NOT help attitude. They wouldnt even change the description from "exam" to "eye exam" in order to get reimbursed because "they've never had this happen before" and they don't have the space to change it.It's stressful enough to have a sick pet soul but even more stressful to have people who are supposed to help seem annoyed by your presence.
