This is one of the best Barnes & Nobles around. Everyone is so nice and helpful. Michelle and Victoria helped me pick some new books and I'm so excited! I love getting recommendations and the employees here are really knowledgeable. Can't wait to come back!

I live in Addison Circle so only about a half a mile away from this location if that. I work from home so I don't get out of the house much anymore but one of the places that I have liked to frequent is the Barnes And Noble in Addison at the Prestowood Town Center here in Addison on Beltline and Monfort. I usually walk or jog up there and just have always enjoyed the atmosphere. I am 46 years old and remember when bookstores and libraries were are our only outlets for source material for literature, research, etc..
I have my own Pitch Deck company and predominantly my work consists of sitting behind a computer at home. Getting out for a cp of coffee or sitting in a bookstore, taking a strole at the Zoo, or in the park across from my Townhouse in Addison are cherished moments of mine. Barnes and Noble has always held a special place in my heart because my dad and I used to frequent the one near his house together for years before that location closed down. Which is another reason why I try to frequently get into a bookstore as much as possible in 2025 because I am not sure how much longer major chain bookstores like Barnes and Noble have left, and I would like to enjoy the atmosphere for as long as we still have it.
I gave this review four star. I would have given it a five star review because every time that I have been in this particular location before today I have had a five star experience. Today was going like every other experience before this one until the very end. When it went from a five star experience drastically to a one star experience.
I had been there for a couple of hours(which was usually the case whenever I went) and was sitting on the floor reading a couple of books when suddenly a woman who worked there very rudely, aggressively, and very unprofessional, snapped at me telling me that I can not sit on the floor. When I attempted to apologize and explain to her that the Cafe area was full she just scowled at me, rolled her eyes and walked away. As she was walking away I asked her why she was being so aggressive and looking at me with straight animosity. She ignored me and kept walking away!
I was highly upset by this obviously and sought her out to let her know that I wanted to speak to the manager about her rude and unprofessional behavior and attitude towards me. She smirked and said she was the general manager! As I attempted to confront her about the way she approached me earlier she basically told me that if that's how I took it so be it and that's on me. I then asked her for her name which she said is Victoria. I then asked her for her bosses name and contact information so I could go above her and speak to her boss personally to file a complaint against her to them personally. She refused to give me either one.
I could expect this type of behavior and misconduct from a part time teenager sales associate making minimum wage. I worked in Retail for years when I was younger so I definitely get it. But this type of conduct from the store General Manager is just a shame and disappointing.
I have been going to that specific location for years and this is the first bad experience I have ever had there. I admit, I spent more money on coffee there than books, but I did also spend money there fairly often on reading material as well. But as I previously stated in this review going to this particular location was special to me because of its location so close to my residence and because of the fond memories I have with my father at the Barnes And Noble that used to be near his house for so many years.
The General Manager Victoria's extremely rude and unprofessional attitude and misconduct towards me today ruined all of that for me. I will no longer be going there as a result of it. If Victoria's boss or the Human Resources Department Representative for this location reads these reviews I would like to speak with someone about filing a formal complaint/grievance against the General Manager Victoria.
