Big Daddy Convenience Store is a great little hole-in-the-wall mom-and-pop store in South Dallas. The food, particularly the fried chicken and the chicken salad, is delicious, out of this world, and top tier. The chicken salad is so large and filling that it can make you very full. The fish basket and burgers are also noted, with great seasoning on the fish. However, expect very long wait times for food, especially for the salads between 11am and 2pm, often 30 minutes or more. The system can seem unstructured, and calling in orders for chicken salad is not effective. While the salads are what made them popular, they are described as more of a meat salad with very little lettuce. Fries are considered mediocre. The staff can sometimes be perceived as rude. It is a place where you should plan to wait and be prepared for it. Despite the waits, many recommend it and find the food worth it.
