Dr. Smith left my kitten and me waiting for over 3 hours in an exam room last night. I took my 6 month old kitten in at 12am for quick breathing and a little murmur sound he was making. I called first and they told me I should come on in, that they had a vet available until 4am. I got there 5 mins later and they checked my kitten's vitals, said he was stable and put us in an exam room at about 12:30am. After an hour of hearing from no one, I asked the receptionist for status and was told we were next. After another hour, I asked again & was told it was just very busy and the vet would get to us as soon as he could. Finally, at 3:30am we left as my kitten seemed ok and was sleeping. It was unbelievable that the vet could not take 3 mins to step in and see us. And I got absolutely no feedback from a nurse or anyone else to tell me anything other than "your cat is stable".

I hate to leave a negative review but since it's a vet I feel it's important that people know that hillside animal hospital has gone completely downhill, I don't know what changed but they are providing mediocre care and charging an arm and a leg. I paid over $500 for a blood test for my cat today that they quoted me as being $240 at first. The price actually doubled without warning. These people are crooks at hillside.

I came here on a Saturday evening when I noticed my Pomeranian puppy having bouts of diarrhea with vomit. My puppy also had no appetite and a fur mom had to do what she had to, call around and find her a place to get seen. I did a random google search and found this place. It was super close to my place, so that's a win. The wait was 3 hours, but glad my puppy is on her way to being better. Dr. Christine New explained to me the possible causes and gave my puppy a nausea medicine, fluids and medicine to go home with that night. Both puppy and I were worn out after that, but she did eat three meals the next day! So glad I found this place!! Love the staff and it was worth the wait on a cold evening.

I'm heart broken while leaving this review, I called hillside multiple times in regards of getting my dog cremated and asked tons of questions in regards of their services. After getting my dog cremated they've lost my dogs paw prints, nose print and fur sample. This is completely unacceptable. Take your loved ones somewhere else this place simply doesn't care. I had to call back multiple times just for them to tell me they will call me back with an update.

My dog recently had surgery through my regular vet to remove a pre-cancerous tumor on his leg. I should note this surgery which included the removal of 6 different growths and full teeth cleaning and meds was $900. Even wearing his cone he somehow got the stitches out around 7:30 on a Sunday evening. I took him to Hillside because it is very close to my house. The wait to get him in at Hillside was only about an hour as there were only two other cars in the parking lot. After the initial exam the vet came back in with two estimates. One to put my dog under and stitch the wound up ($1000) and the other to bandage it ($384) both estimates did include antibiotics and pain meds. I should say bandages were not ideal because of the location of the wound. I was told the only way they could close the wound was to sedate my dog. He is a large breed 9 year old who had to go through two surgeries this year because of this growth so I did not want to put him under again. I begged the vet for any solutions that would not include sedation to get the wound closed and was told it could not happen so I chose to have them bandage it and wait to see my vet the next day. We did get antibiotics and pain meds so I was very thankful for that portion of the visit. I went to my vet the next morning when he opened at 8am. He gave my dog a local anesthetic and stapled up the wound and I was out the door by 8:17. Why on earth did the Hillside vet not offer that option to me? I have spoken with the Practice Manager and the Vet Manager and was told they would advise the vets to give more options in the future. At the end of the day they chose to only offer me the option of a method that was easier on the vet and more expensive $$ than the much more timely and practical option that was easier on the dog and the owners pocketbook.

We had a wonderful experience with Hillside clinic and Dr. Williams -- our little doggie got very sick and Dr. Williams help me through every step of the process and I could tell that he truly cared for the well-being of our dog. I am in healthcare and I think it is terrible how money is above patient care... this was not the case at Hillside. There were multiple opportunities where they could've made more money on me but they did not do that and they prioritized quality patient care (animals are patients too). I would highly recommend this veterinarian & clinic!!

I drive 20 miles one way for the dermatology clinic for my dog. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and took excellent loving care of my dog. You can tell they really love animals. Well worth the drive.

I've always had a great experience here. Today my dog had an allergic reaction to something and thought I'd have to wait bringing her in since it was unexpected and didn't have an appointment but they immediately got her in and got her the shots she needed. The doctor and techs were all super sweet and made sure to keep checking on her. This isn't the first time I have had to come in without an appointment and have been helped so quickly. We were in and out in less than an hour. Thank you staff!

This is going to be long but it needs to be said in hopes that it doesn't happen to someone else's fur-baby. My mom's 15 year old cat had a stroke and we made the difficult decision to have her put to sleep so she would not be in anymore pain. Her back legs had given out on her so it was definitely the most humane decision. Sophie (the cat) was terrified of leaving the house and of vets. My mom and I both have use Hillside previously so felt confident that they would be kind and take good care of her. My mom brought her in and the front girl put them in a room and took Sophie to go have a catheter put in. I should mention that the guy that took her had zero personality and handled Sophie like she was a bag of trash. This is where the nightmare begins. 25-30 minutes pass by and still waiting. My mom finally goes out front to see what the deal is and the front desk girl hurries her back into the room and says to use the buzzer if needed but to not leave the room. At no time did this girl ever mention the buzzer before. She casually mentioned that they were having a very difficult time putting in the catheter which was very upsetting as we did not want Sophie to be in further pain. Also while visibly shaken up waiting in the room, you could hear the front desk girls giggling the whole time. After 20 minutes more, I said let's just get Sophie and go somewhere else. Knowing she is terrified of the vets and in pain, we were horrified thinking of what was happening to her for almost an hour. Just then a vet tech comes in to say that Sophie had bitten another tech while holding her. So since she was not up to date on Rabies vaccine (she has been a strictly indoor cat for 15 years) that they were going to need to charge $150 rabies test for the tech and my mom was responsible for the cost. Meanwhile Sofie is in obvious distress and has both of her front paws shaven from them trying to put this catheter in. She was clearly terrified and in pain. At this point we just wanted Sophie to have some peace. The vet proceeded with the first shot to sedate her in the catheter (used her back leg). Several minutes go by and she is still in distress. The catheter was not inserted properly so after over an hour of them terrorizing her trying to put this in, the vet ended up using a butterfly needle to make the injections which finally worked. Poor sweet Sophie was gone buried in my moms arm from being so frightened. So after over an hour of them taking Sophie away to try this painful catheter, it was not even used at the end. By the way, throughout this whole time you could hear the girls at the front laughing. This was such a horrific experience and so traumatized knowing our poor Sophie suffered unnecessarily before being put to sleep. I'm not sure what happened to Hillside but they need a serious overhaul. My mom will never use them again and I will not for our fur babies either. I will tell anyone who will listen to avoid this place as well as wouldn't want anyone to go through this. The guy who took Sophie back, needs to be fired. A requirement should be that you like and respect animals, not treat them and their owners like garbage. The girls at the front need to be mindful and understand it is super inappropriate to be laughing and cutting up when you have people there losing their family members. I am just so completely disgusted by this and the people that put my poor mom and Sophie through such a horrific ordeal.

I think Hillside is amazing! I love that there are some people still there from when I started going there in the early 90s! Dr. Claybrook is absolutely amazing! She has loved my cats from their beginnings to the end. I really appreciate that I get appointment reminders about a month in advance so I can plan ahead and get us on the calendar - 2 at a time. (all 4 at once would take me down!) I can't recommend them enough ... Lisa

I am grateful for their entire staff and how they have treated our pets, my mother's pets, and the humans in my family too. There are too many stories to tell of the compassionate care they have always shown us. I would highly recommend Hillside.

The doctors and staff here are absolutely incredible. They truly make every pet owner and pet feels so calm and comfortable. The doctors always soothe my cat who has a lot of fear being out of the house. My cat who runs and hides when any guests come to the house, actually snuggled up into the arms of Dr. Amy today. I know they are understaffed (like all businesses) and overworked and yet they still greet you with a big smile and give you the same amount of care and attention. I wouldn't take my pet anywhere else!

We have three cats of varying ages that have been patients here about 7 years. PROS: Many great vets who are very knowledgable. I've never gotten a bad vet but have gotten "new" ones. Ability to get many tests/surgeries/products in one place. Specialist clinic upstairs - dermatology, internist 24/7 - good for full-time working people when you make an after work appointment in advance. -They've always been sensitive to any concerns I had about the cost of procedures or medications. They don't mind giving estimates and understand when you have to say No. CONS: -They need a better phone system - more people answering calls, a better way to communicate directly with doctors who work irregular schedules. Frequently put on hold which is admittedly better than leaving a message. -The doctors don't work consistent schedules, so it's very hard to coordinate getting the doctor you want as soon as possible. -No virtual waitlist /remote checkin or online scheduling -For the upstairs specialists, there is often a 4-6 week wait for an appointment. -*Significant* wait time during appointments. It takes easily an hour to get into an exam room. Once in the exam room, it's about 30-45 minutes waiting for the doctor and 30 more minutes waiting for doctor to come back with medication after the exam. I don't think we've ever had a visit less than 2 hours even with an appointment. -Require frequent checkups to keep long-term medication getting refilled.

I've been taking my pets here over a year now and up until a few months ago there's been a steady decline of customer service and compassion. Mostly from the call center. I was basically told to let me cat die if I didn't come in on a 3 hour wait on top of an addition "walk in fee". So you are saying there are no available appointments but you can "walk in" and be charged extra? Hmmm I see. From what I've noticed there are no doctors so calls have to be made to get one there making all visits a walk in type. I won't lie, the care we are given when we are seen is genuine and costs are comparable to most clinics. But the battle to actually get an appointment to see a doctor is unreal. The call center and the appointment process needs to be changed.
