This is one of my favorite places to practice yoga. If you truly want a yoga practice that challenges you physically AND mentally, try Ashtanga. I have never grown more in my mental practice with yoga or with myself than I have from practicing Ashtanga with Dean and Erin. They are both kind, caring, and welcoming, and they create an inviting space to practice or to learn about Ashtanga if you are new to it. It can be intimidating to approach a new studio, and Dean and Erin do a wonderful job making sure all new students are greeted and guided with warmth. I love practicing here and can't wait until I can roll out my mat with Dean and Erin again soon ❤

Very quiet peaceful place to practice yoga at all levels. Instructors Erin and Dean are very kind and extremely knowledgeable. Their suggestions and adjustments are always great and allowed me to practice yoga despite chronic injury.

I practiced Yoga in NY/NJ region for about 5 years and then in Dallas area for about 1 year. I practiced yoga in so many studios in these 6 years. In all those Yoga studios I felt like they teach yoga just like another Gym workout. As I grow up in India, I was searching for more traditional form of Hatha yoga practicing place in US. Thank god I found this Yoga Shala after 6 years. It is such a wonderful place to practice real Ashtanga yoga. The teacher Dean is super awesome and cool. He actually practice what he teaches. S you will definitely feel the difference when he gives some instruction. When I first came here, I had an ego as I was thinking that I have a solid asana practice. That ego has been broken into pieces after I see the people how they practice here. It brought me back to ground level where I truly belong to.For those who new to Ashtanga. You must mentally prepared for a type of yoga which is not taught in other studios generally. Ashtanga makes you soooo strong and fleeexible. This is not a hot yoga but I am damn sure you will sweat a lot. Early morning practice is like a sweet dream. Mysore classes are not a group class even though you are in a group. No strict timing to join the class on particular time as everyone will be working on their own asanas & flow. So you will get a nice adjustments from dean. If you struck in one posture, you will have to spend more time to get it done before proceeding into next posture. In this way, you set a target, when you get access to a new posture, you will feel like a success & happiness. (I did the Supta kurmasana with bind finally)I have never written lengthy review like this. But I have to do it today, as I am so happy that I get a chance to practice here. Please never miss this place, if you are really looking for good yoga practice.

The only Yoga Shala & Mysore style in Dallas. Dean & Sarah are great people & Yoga Instructors. I have been practicing & studying Yoga for many years, but I’m a beginner in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga. Please don’t get confused with most Vinyasa classes. They’re not the same thing. They often offer free classes for beginners & the first class is usually complimentary. Please contact them ahead of time, so they know you’re coming.I always feel welcomed at the Shala & they truly want to teach us & see us grow as students & mainly as human beings. I have attended Dean’s Intro to Ashtanga Series - it was a great course & we look forward to more philosophical Yoga classes. Ashtanga means the 8 limbs of Yoga. Asanas (yoga postures) are just one of the 8 limbs. In a Mysore practice there isn’t any music playing (which I love), no yelling, talking, water bottles by our mats or any kind of distractions. There is a racket where you can place your shoes, water bottles & your belongings. BTW, Mysore is a city in the South of India. The teachings are passing down from Teacher to Student aka PARAMPARA.You’ll start by learning the Primary series, which starts with Sun Salutations & you do what you can, always listening & respecting your own body. All you hear inside the Shala while people are practicing is everyone’s breath. The more you focus on your own practice - the more you’ll hear your own breath only. The Instructor is always there to guide you whenever you need. If you need help & they haven’t noticed yet or is helping another student, just make eye contact with the teacher & wait to be guided/helped.Once a week there will be (usually) a LED Yoga Class, which in this case you follow the series with the Instructor’s breath. This is one of the greatest paths for those people serious about a Yoga practice.Give it a try, all students I have met are wonderful people. We cheer for each other’s growth.Often, perhaps monthly there is a Sound Healing Bath offered time members of the Shala & also non members for a small fee. Check their schedule online for all the details about classes, workshop, & much much more.Much Gratitude, Love, & Success to you guys for sharing the Path of Yoga with us!

Leave the ego at the door. Dean and Sarah encourage their students not to compare their journey with anyone on the mat, but to come as you are, as they encourage you and guide you down the rabbit hole of self exploration. Every day will be different, but the feeling you have when you walk out will be enough to keep coming back. I drive almost an hour to come here if that says anything, and there are studios within 5 to 10 minutes of my home. I love this method. So thankful for this wonderful sanctuary of a studio
