I had a subpar experience. The customer service I experienced lacked in being a welcoming environment. When I walked in the door, I wasn't greeted by anyone.
When I was seen by the stylist, I noticed other customers were offered beverages like wine etc, even the front desk receptionist brought a customer a drink who was sitting next me; however, I wasn't offered any beverage during the entire service.
Lastly, when it came to my actual haircut, I requested for a pixie cut. I was doing a big chop and after nearly sitting in the seat for 2 hours, my hair still wasn't cut or styled the way I wanted it to be. It was disappointing to spend nearly $100 on a cut that was honestly a waste of money. I went to Great Clips the next day, spent $30 on my haircut and style, just to fix what didn't happen from my appointment at House of Dear. The stylist at Great Clips also noticed some strands of hair on my neckline that weren't cut from my appointment at House of Dear. Overall, the cut I received at House of Dear had a lack of attention to detail to what I requested.

I had the most incredible experience at House of Dear with Beau Barbee, and it happened to be on my birthday! After a thoughtful consultation, Beau fit me into his busy schedule the next morning and surprised me with a warm welcome and a birthday card.
The treatment, color, and cut completely exceeded my expectations. I walked out not just looking transformed, but feeling like a new version of myself. Beau’s attention to detail, care, and artistry are unmatched.
I’m officially a lifelong client, he’s that good. If you’re looking for more than just a haircut, go see Beau at House of Dear. You’ll leave feeling radiant.

I’ve had mixed experiences at House of Dear. In the past, I’ve had highlights with Ashley and a cut by Teddy - both were great.
However, during a recent color consult with another stylist, the owner, Holly, offered to do a cut and style. She noticed a slight wave in my predominantly straight, fine hair and suggested a curly cut and style to enhance it. I agreed, trusting her expertise and curious to see if it would bring out more texture.
While the haircut was fine, the styling was not suited to my hair type at all. My hair was heavily saturated with curl products, then scrunched and diffused, leaving it limp, wet-looking, and greasy. Almost no curl or wave developed, and the result was a style I would never feel comfortable leaving the house in - let alone paying over $200 for.
I wasn’t upset about the style not working out because I did agree to try it. But, I was deeply uncomfortable with how I was treated after. I told Holly the style didn’t work for my hair and that I’d prefer to blow dry in the future. Another stylist even agreed. Holly dismissed my concerns, claiming my hair was damaged from straightening and that’s why the texture didn’t form. This just isn’t true - I never straighten my hair and rarely even blow dry it. It just dries very straight. I feel like the natural texture of my hair was made clear, as I had came in with it air dried. I explained this, and still I felt ignored and invalidated. I honestly felt like I was being gaslit rather than just admitting to making a mistake with the styling reccomendation for my hair. Holly later went on to say not to “bullshit her” which was extremely unprofessional, uncomfortable and again just made me feel like I was not being heard at all.
I left the salon with hair that looked greasy and wet - nothing like what I expected - and felt humiliated, frustrated and on the verge of tears. I also went home to find out the cut was uneven and choppy with different lengths on each side.
Based on this experience, I would strongly caution anyone considering booking at this salon. I have never written a negative review in my life but I truly had such an upsetting, frustrating experience and I wouldn’t want anyone else to pay the amount of money I did to then feel as horrible as I felt.
EDIT*** As mentioned above, I almost never blow dry and never straighten or use heat on my hair….. It is air dried in its natural state every day

I had an appointment with Davee Rios, and I could tell he loves what he does AND he’s great at it. I arrive to my first-time appointment and the service was impeccable. I was greeted with a bottle of sparkling water and waited less than 3 minutes to start my appointment with Davee. I got a 90’s style long bob and I was pretty nervous about it since I have curly hair and have always had my hair be pretty long. Davee did such an incredible job. He is very detail oriented and made sure each strand was at perfect length. He was also very mindful and started the cut with some buffer room making sure I liked it and together we decided to go shorter. My hair look so healthy and lively. Davee is definitely my new hair stylist.

Went in to get a curly cut because I saw they had great reviews and left frustrated. My hair is uneven and my curl pattern is just straight frizz. My stylist was late and then rushed because her second client was already there. They tried to “diffuse” my hair and basically straightened it. My front pieces which she said she’d leave alone are now 2 different lengths. I was offered to redo the curls again, and even after a second time of trying it still doesn’t look right. Never going back to this place again.

Horrible experience. I went there for a blond highlight refresher as I am starting a new job this Monday and came out with pink and red and burgundy hair. I’ve been getting highlights for ten years now and never had a worse experience. Hairstylist said it will be find after a while!! WHAT? So when you go to a restaurant and order beef is it ok for them to serve you chicken and say it’s gonna be beef after a while??? I called them to get my money back at least. The answer was sorry we don’t do refunds come back and we’ll fix it! NO THANK YOU! I’ll put a charge back on the CC. Btw I paid $405 for this mess and Blake was the stylist.
Update: couple of days later I went to another salon to get the mess fixed and asked the stylist to take pictures of the back too. I uploaded the pic to show the meaning of a FULL HIGHLIGHT at this place. They washed my hair like 3 times with clarifying shampoo to wash off the pink and burgundy but there is still some left.

I decided that in 2024 I was going to stop spending hundreds of $$$$s on my hair just to get mediocre results. I was too loyal to average stylists for far too long. I found someone on Instagram who owned her own salon but was only in Dallas about once a month. I had to wait 2. She was HORRIBLE. Left my highlight bleach on for over 4 hours and her assistant left a ton of toner in my hair. Terrible blowout too. I was beyond bummed out & my hair was like straw :(
Fast forward 5 weeks and it was time to get my roots colored. I hadn't found a new stylist so I figured I'd just try somewhere close in the meantime. I knew about House of Dear because I live about a mile away & pass it all the time.
I went through the profiles on their website and picked Mimi. She nailed my base color the FIRST time. Then I had her go in and lowlight some of the highlights that I didn't like and had her add partial highlights around my face. She did amazing with everything! I am beyond thrilled with her work and have zero need to look any further! I highly recommend her! And she's super sweet too :)
Just when I thought my luck couldn't get any better, I had Angelo cut off some of my damaged ends and also do my blowout. He's exceptional at both! He's very meticulous and thoroughly discusses what your goals are. His cut was very precise & looked just like the picture I showed him. He's a keeper too!
So if you want a dream team book Mimi and Angelo together. You will be ecstatic! I promise! I'm so so so happy I found them!

Hair type: My hair is thick, level 6 brunette, and wavy (frizzy). Mid back length.
Stylist: Mimi for color & highlights (fabulous)! Angelo for cut & blowouts (also fabulous)!

This place is excellent. Literally all of the stylists are the best of the best. They each have many years of experience and expertise. The staff have the coolest hairstyles and know the new trends. This is the place to go if you want to make big hair changes that wow your friends. I’ve gotten most of my cuts through Davee, he’s really good as he is one of the hair school educators for students. He also is very meticulous and spends extra time to make SURE you have THE perfect cut. True perfectionist. I literally got so many compliments after he cut my hair!!! I was nervous to chop it all off, but he knows how to make the cut fit the face. Kathy is really good with highlights, and supposedly Angelo is the top notch in color. I have an appointment for color in a couple days with him, we’ll see! I know it’s going to be epic though because all the staff are TOP NOTCH! They will not disappoint!
