I had the opportunity to visit Hillcrest Bank today, my fourth stop in a series of bank visits. I was on a mission to learn about a specific loan product designed for acquiring an existing business. I had constructive experiences at the three smaller banks I visited earlier, with one even providing an informative session with the branch president. However, my experience at Hillcrest was far from satisfactory.Upon entering Hillcrest, I was greeted by three staff members, two of whom were engaged in what seemed like a training or reprimanding session. I was directed into the office and introduced to the older lady, while the younger one left us. I eagerly explained my plans, hoping for a similar level of understanding and assistance I had received at the previous banks.Regrettably, my expectations were not met. The staff member hastily concluded that I was unprepared for what I intended to do and instead suggested a small business loan. She insisted I needed an LLC for my venture, which I found unnecessary as I already own two and did not require one for my current project. What was disheartening was her lack of willingness to listen and understand my needs fully.Hillcrest, as a midsize bank, should aim to blend the intimate service of smaller banks with the extensive resources of larger ones. Unfortunately, in my experience, they fell short, offering subpar customer service reminiscent of larger, more impersonal banks. The staff member's rudeness and dismissive attitude left a bitter taste, prompting me to end the conversation and leave the establishment.Had she conveyed directly that she could not assist me or that the bank did not offer the product I needed, I would have appreciated it. Misleading me was not the right approach, especially when I had already gained valuable insights from three other banks. My experience raises a question on how many potential customers, particularly those under 30, seeking business acquisition loans, are being misdirected or treated poorly. It would have been beneficial if she had directed me to the appropriate resources or solutions, rather than what was easier for her to sell.In conclusion, based on my experience, I would advise those seeking loans or advanced banking services to consider smaller banks. They provided me with a more attentive and helpful service than what I experienced at Hillcrest. Sadly, Hillcrest did not live up to my expectations on this occasion, hence my one-star rating.

I have been with Hillcrest Bank for almost 10 years now. The level of personal attention and professionalism that Wade Simpson and Tina have shown me is unmatched by any banking experience I have had in the past. They have really gone above and beyond for me especially in these trying times. I have also referred my best friend Mark to them and he is extremely satisfied as well. I would highly recommend Hillcrest Bank!!

Hillcrest Bank has been my bank for my business as well as personal for years now. They really go the extra mile for their customers and make the comparison between the big banks a night and day comparison. During COVID they took especially great care to make sure I was in good shape both personally and with the health of my business. I highly recommend them to any new comer who is fed up with the big banks. You will be glad you made the change. Ask for Tina, Ramon or Wade. They will all take VIP care of you!

2016: Since the merger and the new system update (last Nov), the bank I loved so dearly has disappeared. There isn't any Customer Service anymore. I am now just a number. :( And forget getting through on the CS line. If you call to their 800#, you might as well take a day off from work and keep the speaker on because you will be a lucky person if you actually get through to a person by the end of the day. Yes, it's THAT bad! And the branches are no longer allowing their people to actually care about their customers anymore. Absolutely no small talk or anything. You are just a number. Very sad. :( I really loved Hillcrest Bank. I guess the executives just love money better than they do customers. Prior to merger: (5 star) The best banking experience ever! I highly recommend. The Customer Service is non I've ever seen before; especially in a bank. It's like being at "Cheers" - Everybody knows your name. It's very awesome! If you want to be respected as a person; have people help you, care about you and your finances; go to Hillcrest. Once you go, you'll stay forever.
