Big name, but basically a hood operation. if you have a 1040 to file, no problem. They're also kind and very friendly. However, if you receive income from the US, and an outside country, forget these people. They will not know what to do. Such was my situation: I had to tell them that another tax form was needed to file the outside of country income. I had to go back to them so it could be corrected. It suddenly dawned on me that the preparer had no idea of what she was doing as it took her three hours to figure out what to do. I also realized that she hadn't done this before. in addition, this woman gave me wrong information as to which documents went to where. She told me to write one check and the IRS would send the other portion to the outside country. Almost a year later the outside country said I owed them their portion plus penalties and fees. I had to pay them in addition to my 2022 taxes. Now I'm left trying to recoup that portion from the tight-fisted IRS in the US. Buyer beware: Jackson Hewitt isn't prepared to do complex taxes.
