I dunno why there are so many bad reviews. It might be bc bad reviews come from bad people.This place was great and very easy. I got to the counter and Tavia and I had a great conversation and then she upgraded me. Imagine that - treat a service worker like a human and they might hook you up?! First you gotta have mutual respect - but I digress...The location is located INSIDE Avis, so navigate as if you were headed to Avis and go in their building. There were plenty of cars and the entire interaction took about 20 minutes. I'd def use them again.

Payless had me waiting in line for over a half over..Then my car took over a half over to get to me. Then they changed the car they were gonna give me. The car you gave me was a POS. I got in it the back passenger tire had a slow leak . There was no windshield fluid and had not been washed.So I had to ask for the air to be put in the tire and fluid added. WHICH meant even more wait time.. Only to get up in the morning and the tire needed air AGAIN... Then tire NEEDED air again on the return day. Then only to get charged for gas when I filled the car back up before dropping it off. I put in extra gas to ensure it would still read full, upon return. The check in lady didn't even look at the meter when I returned it...She just clicked on the scan code...I wouldn't tell my WORST enemy to rent from this establishment.DON'T RENT HERE! They are the Spirit and Frontier of Rental Cars. Just Trash.

Frustrating experience. Front desk was limited workers for the amount of people waiting on their car rental. My husband reserved the car and prepaid so I would have no stress and just pick up a car. However, Be sure to travel with the card on file even if it was already processed. They could not give me the car even with ID, reservation confirmation with payment completed, and name on the reservation. I had to pay for another rental and received a damaged car. Nobody in the pickup area to help me with finding a different car. When driving out spoke to the front gate guy who took my info and told him the car was damaged would like a different one said I was fine and would not be charged for damage. I was more concerned for my safety. I discovered the damaged front bumper wasn't the only problem, The headlight was out and the wheel was messed up. I will NEVER use Budget or Payless (they share a front desk) again! I will not recommend this chain to any family or friends. Renters beware of your safety.

The check in process was not easy. The particular airport we were at (DAL) didn't have any signs for Payless rental. So I called the support number from the confirmation email and asked if we should get in the long line with the Avis and Budget rentals or get on the shuttle. They said to get in the line. After waiting 30 minutes, we get to the counter and they tell us they can't help us there and to get on the shuttle. So we shuttle and then wait in another line. Finally we're handed a sticky note with some numbers on it and told to wait outside. A random woman who didn't identify herself and wasn't wearing a uniform took our sticky note and gave us an all electric vehicle. We then had to flag her down again to say that's not what we had signed up for and had no way to charge the car. So we had to then wait for another car (mind you, it's 90 degrees out).So we finally got a car we could use and left. The whole process probably took 90 minutes.Then, a few days into our rental we find out that the car we have didn't have functioning tail lights on either side! This is extremely dangerous and we became even more frustrated with this rental process. I really wish it didn't have to be so difficult. We will not be renting through your company again.

I requested an economy car but ended up with an SUV that used a lot more fuel. I said yes to the fee that takes care of not having to make sure the vehicle had a full tank of gas upon return but didn't realize I'd be charged for a full tank of gas - I returned the SUV with 3/4 of a tank of gas. Not sure if that was legit or not. Otherwise, location was easy to use with airport so close by and staff were all courteous.

When I first reserved a car with Payless, I was given a very reasonable total, around $262. When I got the the rental agency after my flight, I was bombarded with insane hidden fees that were nowhere to be found upon my initial reservation, taking my total to almost $700.While I was prepared for the 1 underage fee, having a price differential of over $400 is insane. I was prepared with a major credit card, but didn't have a limit high enough for the new price. If I had known I would be paying $400 more than what I was told, I either would have been prepared, or not even booked due to that insane price. While I am grateful that they finally helped me figure it out and get a car, I was met with rude and condescending costumer service. I was laughed at, talked down to, and degraded in front of a room full of people, simply because I wasn't prepared to pay $400 more than what I was initially told. I will never be renting a car from this company again.

The rental was fine but upon checking my e-receipt at the terminal after checking in the car, I noticed they charged $131 for a collision damage waiver we specifically declined. I thought these days were long gone at the rental car companies but they still manage to find a way to hit you with a charge for potential damages that your insurance company already covers.

It's fair. You get what you pay for here. And that's putting it nicely. The customer service team could brush up on treating the customers who rent their products with a little more kindness. The car I got was not something I expected to be similar to KIA or an economical car, but it served its purpose. The return crew were outstanding and professional. Thanks to you guys, our morning turned out to be a FANTASTIC one.

This should be 0 stars!!!The car that I picked up was damaged. I have pictures and video of obvious right front damage by the passenger side wheel. While driving the car to my destination the tire pressure dropped. I spent 3 hours waiting at a discount tire to find out the inside rim was bent. I called customer service to let them know the issue. They let me know that I could exchange the car but the closest location was 1.5 hours away. The airport was the same distance. I was not gonna waste 3 hours driving the unsafe car to the airport and back to my event in Dallas traffic in a car with a bad rim at risk of a blow out in Dallas, Texas traffic. I would missed the event I flew to Texas for. I checked the tire pressure and drove back to the airport the next morning to return the car 4 hours early because I was scared of a blow out on the interstate that could of possibly killed me are someone else. After calling customer service today I was offered a $20.00 coupon or $12.00 off my bill. REALLY!?!? Absolutely unacceptable!! I lost 3 hours of my vacation at discount tire. I was unable to go to an event the next morning, 2 hours. I had to drive straight back to the airport early in fear of a blow out and missing a flight, 4 hours. I lost a WHOLE day with family. Obviously y'all are not a family oriented company. Therefore I will never rent from your company again nor will my 1500 friends on social media after I tell them that "according to Payless rental company 9 hours of my 24 trip to Texas was only worth a $20.00 coupon on next rental or $12.00."1st thing that should of been done.... Your company should of worried about my safety and brought me a car!2nd I also should of been offered compensation for downtime I was unable to attend because of not have a safe car to drive.

They added $100 optional service fee that I did not agree to and now I have to dispute with customer service. The car was dirty couldn't see out the front window and it smelled like cigarettes. I booked through Southwest airlines as a third party when I booked my airline tickets. Southwest couldn't do anything about it because they were a third party. People taking advantage of people. Until it happens to them....

5 stars for Victor who helped me at the counter. He made pickup easy by providing efficient, friendly service. The sports car I rented was in great condition, although if you book one of their cheapest options, other reviews seem to show more wear and tear on them. I think that’s fair though for being a budget car rental business. If you want to get the cheapest car at a budget business, that’s on you. They had the lowest prices I could find on a same day rental.

I rented a car for 2 days with Payless at the Lovefield airport in Dallas, TX. The customer service agents were helpful at the time of pick up and drop off. There is a shuttle that runs from the airport to the car rental building. I normally don’t rent from Payless but my experience with them was good. The only con is the vehicle I received. There was nothing wrong with the car, I just would have liked a different car.

Even though I specified that I did not want any insurance, physical damage waiver was added for $24.95. They did not give me any paperwork so I was not able to see this add on charge until I received an email that night after a funeral dinner I was attending. So I waited until I returned the car the next day. The manager in Dallas said that I should have caught this situation when I was signing the screens. I told the clerk when I was signing that it appeared that the price had increased over my quote and she told me that there was a deductible added that would not be charged when I returned the car. So as a result I ended up paying almost $50 more that I should have, but the manager refused to help me. Horrible customer service.

We lost valuable time with our 82 year old mother. Simple because our car had to be returned for a replacement. We were living at least an hour away from our Payless location. The car was dirty, deeply soiled from what? I have no clue. It reeked from marajina every time the air came on. We didn't want the car but the AM staff, and the person at the gate didn't listen to our concerns. We were told this was IT! We were told that the Payless staff noted the issues, and to GO! Only after the marjania smell kicked in, did we realize we could not tolerate it along with the soiled interior. What's being done with the 450$ cleaning fee? These Rental cars are being a used and hard working families continue to pay for inferior use. It's not fair! I tried calling the customer service number, I was on hold for over 28 minutes, never to be assisted. I even put in an on line complaint, no one ever responded to it either. We're so disappointed. And we will never use PAYLESS or it's partners again. The cars we had we DIRTY AND SOILED! VERY DISAPPOINTED

This was the worst rental experience I've ever had. First I arrived there and the line was ridiculously long and when I finally got up to the front after 1/2 an hour wait, every time the attendant tried to put me in a car it was gone and she had to start over. Then I asked her to add two more days to the rental and that was not done (I found out later when my bill was doubled at dropoff). When I walked out to get my car that I had just been assigned, someone else got into it and drove off, so I had to haul all of my luggage back in and wait again in line until I could get another car assigned. They had no cars like the one I had booked and instead of putting me in a car and automatically covering the upgrade, they charged me an additional $20/day. Then when I went to turn it in, I got a receipt emailed to me that was three times the amount of the original agreement, because the two additional days had not been added and they billed me a ridiculous amount for those days.
