PLS DO NOT TAKE YOUR DOGS, " LOVED ONES HERE" Grooming in this place is really bad, they dont care about your puppy I took my dog for grooming first time the groomer was new, after that, my dog did not want to go grooming and was scared and aggresive after that, I still dicide to take him, 2nd time, my dog came home, and stood in one spot for a long time, After a while moved, he needed grooming last time they said my dog was agressive a 12 pound maltesse, that tbey could not take him, after that my dog change and was not comfortable, they should get trained people not just any "groomer"
Just because they are animals, tbey are part of somebodys family. If you see that your dogs is giving ""signs""
Pls dont take them to those places.
They are like kids, pay attention

I want to preface this review is a little late. I've had some other things going on so I'm not sure if anything has changed in the grooming department but I'll attempt to keep this short, but detailed.
I took my pup here a few months ago for a grooming and was told I could bring her in that day around 10:30am. I live a little far so I told them I'd be a little late and I dropped her off around 10:45am. The first issue I had with the groomer was the sheer lack of communication. Essentially, per the groomers a number of events could have happened to cause a delay in my pup's grooming, but had someone informed me she would just be caged in a kennel in the back and no one would check on her for hours until around 1:00 / 2:00pm I would have said no thank you. The groomer called in an absolute panic around 3:30-4pm, essentially saying she could not finish my pup's grooming because she feared for my pup's safety because she's super energetic and reactive. I showed up to pick up my babygirl and her hair was cut everywhere but her head, but there were patchy areas that were cut a little too close for comfort. My puppy was noticeably anxious and ready to go and as soon as I picked her up I noticed a sizeable scrape on her nose. When I asked what happened all the groomers were shocked like this was new information and started making up different potential scenarios for how my puppy got injured. My confusion...why did nobody know?
1) I prefaced on the phone and at drop multiple times she is a puppy and she is very anxious and she has separation anxiety that we're working on so kenneling her for hours with no one checking on her is crazy to me. If you didn't believe you could do the service I would have appreciated that candor and taken her elsewhere. (I eventually did have to take her somewhere else a few days later because she was partially groomed.)
2) My puppy had been to the groomers a few times before that, twice was at a Petco location out of town and once with a Petsmart, and no one else had the same issue this groomer had with her. On another note, my puppy has not had the same reaction she had at this Petco with any other Petco or PetSmart. She was visibly upset when I got her.
3) If you have to bring your puppy here for a grooming and you know they are high energy or high anxiety, apparently Petco has a service where you can pay extra to ensure your dog gets groomed in a timely manner and won't keep getting pushed back. (Found this out from the manager AFTER this incident.)
4) if the above describes your dog and you NEED to go here, I suggest trying to book with the head groomer. The one who did my pup's grooming was younger and, I am assuming from the panic in her voice when she called and the reaction to an energetic puppy, probably less experienced.
I will say management here definitely was on the ball, at least while I was there. She found a medication for the scrape on my pup's nose, showed compassion for my upset puppy, and helped deescalate a situation that was definitely on the rise because no groomer involved showed a hint of accountability nor empathy for anything, but specifically for her being injured while in their care. I will say the groomers believe she scraped her nose on the kennel trying to get out...that story doesn't track with me because I have camera footage of my puppy, prior to this incident, in her crate attempting to nudge her way out aggressively for hours, while I wasn't home, and she never injured herself in the past. Everytime I look at her, I see that scrape and it reminds me all over again about the mistake I made bringing her here and I hope this helps anyone with energetic, super friendly, and/or anxious dogs to make a better informed decision for where to get them groomed.
For reference, I included a pic of her with her toy before her grooming, one of her in her carrier right after

I made a grooming appointment a few days ago and got a call this morning (2 hours before) telling me the appointment was cancelled. My dog has Addison’s Disease. The only issue she may have during grooming is some nervousness. It is the weekend and just 4 days until Christmas. This puts me in a horrible spot to try to find an open appointment anywhere. This is an utterly ridiculous policy and I will not be returning to this store (or any other Petco for that matter).
