I attended a cooking class here and loved it. It’s also byob! The chef was very fun and explained everything throughly. I also loved hearing her stories about her cooking career. We were provided with all the ingredients and cooking utensils. I will definitely come here again. Fun activity to do with a group of friends, family or a date.

TLDR: Go with William Sonoma. Well over a month ago, I purchased a cooking class as a Christmas present for my wife, parents and grandmother. When we showed up for the class, we were informed that Sur La Table had since decided to make it a private event and cancel the class without giving any advance notice that the class had been cancelled. It is both concerning, and telling of their management's lack of dedication to the customer's experience, to have found out about the cancellation at the class only 5 minutes before it was supposed to start, when advance notice via a phone call would have allowed me to plan another event for my grandmother and family.

What a great date night, especially on NYE. We had a great time, and Chef Kate was the absolute best! She completely elevated the whole experience for us. The food was amazing as well, and it was all planned out perfectly. Shoutout superstar Chef Kate and her kitchen assistants. Will definitely be back

What a great date night! We did the Thailand Experience and it was so much fun and super delicious! 4 course meal. Chef Kate was our instructor and she was absolutely the best! Just enough instruction without micromanaging and was open to step in and help us learn more like how to treat lemongrass and gave some great pointers! FYI - you do share a space with another couple but this particular class was perfect for 4 people- plenty of prep work!

At a recent Sur La Table cooking class, the instructor highly recommended several varieties of Bitterman salts, which I purchased. I tried them on different types of food and did not like them. I expected that these products could be returned since I was not happy with them. I was told that food products could not be returned. I get it, it can’t be re-sold, however I would expect that your company (and the manufacturer) would stand behind the products you sell. A store credit would have been acceptable, but I was informed that under no circumstances could you do anything to make this right. You have lost a customer.

I moved to Dallas from a small rural town in Michigan just shy of a year ago. We don't have cooking classes and I'd never heard of Sur La Table (though there is one in Ann Arbor, which I thought was pretty cool). SLT is a store but they offer various cooking classes. The store is great. It's clean, well organized, and the workers are knowledgeable about anything you could possibly have a question about and there's even a station set up so you can try out knives to find the perfect one that fits and works for you. Oh and I nearly forgot the coffee machines! Preston Royal has nearly 10 coffee machines to test, taste and learn about. Ben is incredibly helpful in this department. He also knows a lot about the pans. Actually I think he knows everything about the store and what it has to offer. I don't think I've ever asked a question he couldn't answer! While the store is great and I could easily spend an entire day exploring, the classes are really what I go for. Preston Royal's resident chef, Kate, is the best! She's knowledgeable, fun and makes the class one you won't forget! You'll learn some things, make and eat awesome food (that the chefs have somehow shown you how to do pretty easily) and you'll have fun doing it! They also have several other chef instructors that are awesome. Chef Jason is really amazing with Korean food and is just overall a great teacher, Tammie is spectacular and has vast knowledge of the culinary world, I think she even attended culinary school in France. And of course Cordelia who is a great instructor and so passionate. I haven't done a class with Cordelia yet, but I definitely will in the future and I look forward to learning from her.

I had an amazing experience at Sur La Table today! I wanted to buy a santoku knife but I have no knowledge of good knives. Linda explained the differences in handles and patiently let me try different knives. At one point I wondered how a knife would feel cutting an onion instead of a potato and she went and got one for me! My husband and I had a lot of questions about expanding our knife collection in the future and she had a lot of great advice with no pressure. I walked away with a beautiful Shun santoku, paring knife and cutting board. Great service and I know I'll be back!

Great class food was restaurant level, even if the cook (me) isn’t.

Sur la Table Preston Royal is fabulous & you must visit for yourself! I’m always greeted when I walk in the door & someone is always ready to assist - from the GM to the SA’s!

Took our VERY expensive Shun knives (bought at Sur la Table) to be sharpened. They had a newbie work on them in a “machine” no less, and they came back chipped up so bad we had to have all dozen re-done professionally. PLEASE don’t buy knives or have them sharpened here. They will be ruined. Buyer beware.

Wife and I took a cooking class here that was very disappointing. Chef Kate was good, but every other aspect was frustrating. Firstly we paid $90 each for us to come learn how to cook during the advertised 2.5 hour class, only to find out we had to share ingredients with another couple (who were very pleasant) and therefore not get all the experience, and then have the class end after only an hour and forty-five minutes. Hurriedly eating the meal while standing up at the kitchen workstation was a disappointment too. I assumed we'd at least be able to pull up a stool and enjoy the meal. And the dessert ended up being a spoonful of gelato served in a paper cup. At the end we were told the recipe for the meal would be sent to our email address. I've received nothing after two weeks of calling the location 3 different times and being assured it would be "re-sent" to me. Overall a very disappointing experience, especially given the cost of the class.

The associates seem helpful and patient. However, I went there on Saturday and something was wrong with their card reader. Took part funds than we tried to cancel and remove and then charge again... but the prior charge was still holding. Now both amounts are now charged but somehow declined lol:(. I told them funds to release back to my account typically take a day which it did. This is nothing new in the retail world. I told them I'd be back to again Tuesday afterwork to please hold. They agreed. So here it is Tuesday, afterwork, and drove from legacy west to get what they said was holding. Get there and everything had been put back. I just sat in traffic to get these items which by the way are cheaper at other retailers bc I just bought them from Walmart haha. Point is save yourself the hassle and buy online. Not only did they waste my time and $$$ but I had other things to pay for that day and bc of their mess up I couldn't... no wonder this store is always empty inside.
