I had the worst experience here as a customer due to the discriminatory behaviour of the staff and manager, which made me feel very uncomfortable while shopping.

Life's seconds and minutes are so much more greater then this trivial complaint that I have. I usually dont dwell on this level of what does it even matter, as the next breath should be the only appreciation. I am highly irritated that a store (Tom Thumb) at beltline and Preston would advertise on their shelf, right in front of a product that it is $5 for 5 cans, so you get 5 cans and then Tom Thumb charges you the full price of 1.49 a can. This is not a issue of money but of principles. I have the extra $2.50, it is the point of, I guess they won't think you will notice at the check out. Corporate greed in the works. So I told the checkout person about the sign, then she had to call a manager, then I had to take the guy back to show him the sign attached to the shelf directly in front of the beans that said 5 for $5 . He pulled the sign off that said 5 for 5 in front of the cans I wanted to purchase at that price, then pointed 5 feet away and said those are the cans 5 for 5. What a crock! So then went back up to the cashier and told him I wanted my money back on all the cans, that took another 8 minutes. It is so silly this text, I guess I'm even taking the time because after 30 years at the same store( beltline and Preston) they made me out to be the fool.
After tonight I will tell everyone I know the baiting practices at this store and to drive a couple of miles further to the Kroger at Preston and Campbell. After 30 years of loyalty
Tom Thumb played me for a fool. Then when I called them on it, and showed the manager the sign he pulled it, he pulled it and said I had to still pay the full price. After 30 years , they are losing me and my loyalty to them for $2.50. The heck with their corporate attitude.
* The people, cashers, etc, including security have always been a bright light to do business with. I know they don't control the business habits of corporate greed at Tom Thumb at Preston and Forest. What a greedy shame

The people here are very nice, which is very unusual for a grocery store.
I recommend going in the morning because they’re in a really great mood, want to pack your items, talkative, the very helpful.

Pretty much can’t buy produce here anymore, every time I have been here lately I have noticed moldy fruit including strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and even tomatoes. How lazy do you have to be to not even check your produce? Y’all are gonna get someone sick and kill them.

Doors are locked on one side at morning and night. Pretty sure this is against fire code too.
Never enough staff and staff aren’t friendly

This grocery store has been on the decline for many years but they’ve reached an all-time low. I literally waited over 15 minutes for someone to cut me a piece of fish last night. When they could not find the fishmongers/butcher, they brought in a generalist who did not even know how to use the scale. I think I counted three employees throughout the entire store. The produce quality has tanked in addition to the customer service. Bring on H-E-B!

If you shop the weekly deals you can score a good bargain for your buck! If you don’t, then you wind up paying more for everything!
I do like the way they always have reduced prices on their meat and other items. If you take the time to walk around the store and look, you can find some good deals that way as well.
The produce isn’t very fresh , but I just look through the packages and find one that my expectations, especially if they have sales like this week strawberries for $1.50 each for a pound package, which is a very good deal!
My overall advice is to shop the deals and plan your meals around that! For everything else I supplement my pantry from Sam’s and Walmart because I’m on a budget!
Happy Shopping ? ? ?
