Back in March 2023 my sister fell with the nurse holding her and hit her head. She had a knot on her head. No one bothered to call her family and let them know. Her granddaughter came in right after she fell and saw her head. She asked what happened and they told her and she asked where her nurse was. They said oh she's at lunch. She said was anyone going to call her family and let someone know that she had fallen? They said her nurse was going to call after she (nurse) had her lunch! WTH?? Didn't they think that was important enough to let family know asap? She went down hill after that! She was afraid to even get out of the bed and try to walk after falling! I will never recommend this hosp after this !!

I had a week long hospital stay for my sickle cell. The nurses, nurses tech, and staff caring for me did an incredible job. I'm grateful they were patient and compassionate.

I am a RN of 40 years. I've worked at Parkland and Children's ER and never in my career or personally have I experience such neglect and inhumanity! I arrived at 4:11 pm and finally saw a doctor at about 3 am!!! They took 1 set of vitals and that was upon admission! After about 6 hours, I asked for my temp to be taken again and the nurse dismissed me and told me I had to wait but she never got back with me. Most of their faces were very sour and definitely lacked care or concern except for one truly kind nurse. Someone was coughing very frequently without a mask and also vomiting but zero care was provided to this man. I stayed in the lobby for 10 hours then they put me in a treatment room for 1 hour before I was seen by the doctor. I came in for excruciating pain but never gave me anything for pain only something for nausea at the 12th hour! The hospital supposedly received the award for best hospital in Texas is a joke! I read alot of the previous reviews and this night was not an anomaly! It is chronic lack of care and major inhumanity issues! The ADMINISTRATION SHOULD BE ASHAMED. You are the ones who decide to increase staffing and expand your facility! Your hospital is only 10 years old and has a 30 bed ER with more than 120 people waiting in the lobby. Shame on you for letting people suffer when they are in dire straits. I debated whether to go to your ER or Baylor (I worked their too) and since I had surgery in your facility in July and most of my docs are UTSW, I made the unfortunate choice to come to your ER but never again. I'm praying for all the people who come your way...something serious is going to happen to these patients from complete neglect and inhumane treatment! I promise to let everyone I know about the treatment or lack of I received there including the HHSC and my government representatives!

This the 2nd time Ive taken my husband to this Hospital ER, this hospital is a little further away from our house by 4 miles, but if its not life threatening and you have the choice to go to this hospital Its worth the extra few miles, I cannot say enough about the Superb Care he received from the second we walked in the door. The nurses cared for him immediately & we had only a short time before he was taken back to a room & saw a Dr, tests were run immediately to determine what was going on, results came in fast, care plan was made & we were released

Do not go here. A lot of Medical gaslighting took place. I went on a Friday 4pm to 7pm. I am a woman of color the doctor was Asian and very dismissive to the symptoms I told him I experienced. He sent me home with nothing to alleviate my symptoms nor medical advice to alleviate it. Afterwards I was sent a $3000 medical bill for nothing! But thanks to their financial assistance program they will pay for the nothing care they provided!!! Also they seem to have no special area in the ER for people who test positive for Covid me and my children sat down in the waiting room and luckily the lady told us she had Covid if she would’ve never told us me and my children could’ve caught it! Do not go here!!!!! Also UT southwestern if you want patients feedback for a survey send it to their email instead of asking them to mail a survey! You will get more results if you send it via email!!

EMERGENCY ROOM - PICK SOMEWHERE ELSE!. I called my doctor at UTSW and they first told me to go to urgent care even though they were still open. This is part of the problem with medicine today; they no longer have a doctor on call for after hours treatment. They want you to go to a place where you don't know anyone and they know nothing about you. This may be okay if you broke a finger or need stitches but it doesn't work for those with more complex health needs. I had a fever of 104 and underlying health conditions that made this dangerous or so I was told. I went to urgent care and they refused treatment due to my health situation which is just as well since I learned they have no doctor on staff. They registered a temp of 103.9. gave me some tylenol and called 911 for an ambulance. Then I was on my way to UTSW emergency. We arrived and they took me right to a room. My fever was fogging my thoughts. Then 4 people showed up to ask what was going on. I tried to explain and they seem to twist words to fit answers they had. They needed to run some blood tests and they wanted a urine test. They said they would give me another Covid test (I had already tested negative twice that day) plus they wanted to do a chest xray. This raised questions the first questions because I had no symptoms of a respiratory illness other than a sore throat. I asked for a strep throat test and they didnt answer. I asked 3 times but never received a direct answer. All other symptoms of muscle aches and chills are related to the fever. The urgent care place told me that I did not have the flu. The "doctors" (I think they were actually interns) took off and we did not see them again for 2 hours. We got some orange juice and when a small amount of condensation hit the floor my husband reached down with a paper towel to wipe it up. The towel came back black with dirt. We tried a few other spots in the room and concluded that this room had not been cleaned adequately in some time - it was really dirty. We did the urine test and the bathroom smelled of mold plus the door lock was broken. I must have asked them a dozen times to close the door on my room - they were not concerned with my privacy. Then the torture began. They had asked if I had a port and I do but I told them, for simplicity that they could use my vein to draw blood. I have one good vein. They did not have a person who specializes in doing lab work and I had no idea how poorly the nurse would do at drawing blood. She played with the needle for a little less than 10 mins causing considerable pain and then after withdrawing the needle she slapped on an adhesive patch that immediately had to pull off since I am allergic to adhesives. At least this gave me some time to apply a lot of pressure and reduce the damage and bruising to that area. Then another person appeared to help with the IV insertion. I warned her that all other veins are shallow and were not likely to work. She placed the needle in and it went through the vein. She pulled it back and got some blood but it was unstable, it burned when flushed and blood stopped flowing into it. She began pushing on the needle and veins in an incredibly painful maneuver to draw blood. I asked if there was enough and she said she just needed a bit more but blood was pooling under my skin, she then said she had enough and I asked her to remove the needle which she did. There would be no more opportunity for an IV. I had asked about using the port after the first IV attempt but the story quickly changed to the port not being an option. After this. I wanted to go home and I told them so. They had blood for the tests which they said would take a couple of days to produce results. The urine test showed nothing and they still had done nothing to treat me. They went to take one last temperature and I told her the thermometer was not under my tongue. She pulled it out shoved it in my face and said that my fever was all gone. It was not. My temp had fallen with the tylenol but it was not now normal nor would it be for 3 more days. My feve

Fragmented/compartmentalized healthcare. Residents are clueless. Good luck seeing an attending doctor with any experience. ER is just as bad.... Felt like it was run by volunteers vs medical professionals. Sure, the rooms are nice and the television sets big, but is that really what you're looking for when seeking required medical attention?12 Blue (Clements Bldg): nurses nowhere to be found, the rude lady who is supposed to man the entry door to allow access is often absentee from her post as well so you have to stand at the door until another disinterested employee can buzz you in.Dr Jordan was a horrible resident who denied my father an inpatient hospice consult when my sister and I were at the bedside literally begging for one. She sent my dad home and he died, in pain and in respiratory distress less than 96 hours after discharge. Never once saw an attending. No interdisciplinary communication... they'll order routine tests while you are literally inpatient for a different location. For example, before his final visit, my dad was there for a bronchoscopy and they ordered an echocardiogram (a 30 min procedure that is easily done at bedside...esp if you're already in the hospital), for the following day in IRVING!! I had to complain in order for them to send an echo tech up to perform this procedure while he was admitted. If you don't have a strong patient advocate, they will run you ragged with excessive appointments at various locations throughout DFW.They love, love, love using MyChart as the only form of communicating with their patients, without taking into account their age, computer abilities, medical conditions. When my dads results from his cancer staging came back unfavorable and I read them online (I'm an RN and can decipher medical lingo pretty well), I called and asked my father if he had received a call from his doctor (Suzanne Cole) to discuss them, he said no. This is unacceptable in every way.UTSW is nothing more than a bunch of bougie Med students in a fancy location.Look elsewhere for quality healthcare.

I thought it would be a 5 but the way they are doing my husband just isn't right!! He was admitted the Dr 's. came up with a plan that sounded right for his problem. Well then shift change and a whole new set of Dr's with their plan which didn't do nothing but get him ready to discharge ? nothing done.

Worst ER in Dallas. I have been waiting for 10 hours to talk to the doctor. I'm still waiting.? I waited 8 hrs just for them to draw blood. Multiple patients left without treatment. They need to do something about the wait time this is ridiculous!!!!

As with literally any ER ever, the wait is awful. There’s no way around it, and while there are plenty of ERs to choose from in DFW, there’s just so many people here. If you look at the picture you’ll see urgency levels, even a seizure is down to #3. It didn’t seem like too busy of a night and I still waited 5.5 hours, but it is what it is. Everyone I interacted with was extremely kind and helpful except for only 1 nurse at the checkin stand who I asked for an update. The nurse who checked me in, and the supervising nurse at check in were great. The guest relations team was super friendly and helpful. All of the nurses in the back were great and the doctor saw me quickly and got me taken care of. Heading out the security team escorted me to my car so I didn’t have to walk which was really nice. You can count on good quality care here, but without a life threatening issue you’re in for a long haul of a wait

came in with 8/10 pain twice and had to wait 3.5+ hours. i get being busy but this is just ridiculous.i came in for a car accident almost a year ago and waited six hours in the waiting room to be seen. HORRENDOUS care. the doctors are nice if you actually get a chance to see them but that’s all. nurse told me once after i said my condition was getting worse and asked how much longer that i “am free to leave” and didn’t bother even trying to work to help me.

Currently been waiting for my mom to see an ER Doctor for 8 hours. Still haven’t been admitted. If you have an emergency, go somewhere else because you won’t find any help here. Also they have my immune compromised mother sitting in close quarters with people who have tested positive for Covid. No barriers. No masks. We will most likely leave worse than we arrived.UPDATE: We tested positive for Covid a couple of days after being here. My mother thankfully recovered, but is still struggling with some of the after effects. Staff here should be ashamed of themselves for treating patients needing help this way.

The thoroughness of care is beyond words here. I reported to the ED with anaphylaxis and was taken care of immediately even though arrived via private transportation. The emergency department worked diligently and kept me informed through the process. My case was a bit unusual, but they went above and beyond to provide the best diagnostics and information throughout. The ER room was clean and had creature comforts, though I wasn't in the best shape to fully appreciate them. I ended up admitted and moved to the 11th floor. It is legitimately more like a 5 star hotel than a hospital. The thoroughness of care continues. I have a panel of physicians which is a nice benefit of it being a university hospital vs. a typical hospital with one attending. It's very doctor house; I value input from multiple minds as the room is always the smartest. If you can get here in time for your health needs, get here. Best hospital in Dallas, imo.

My granddaughter went there with chest pain, extremely dizzy and extremities very cold. Got there at 8:30 and is still waiting on a room at1:49. There is still another patient who has been vomiting the whole time. I would think that this would be considered to be a hazmat issue. How can this facility still operating?

Visited the ER twice in the past two years and had good experiences both times. They were able to diagnose medical issues and correct them in a timely manner. I would go back if needed.
