Greenwood Grocery and Grill is a hidden gem located out in the middle of Wise County on a county road, a little northeast of Decatur. It is a small, country-style spot in a historic little postage stamp of a town, offering an authentic Americana experience. The business is normally open for breakfast and lunch, but opens on Friday night for burgers and Saturday for its famous all-you-can-eat catfish fry, which is always a treat. The perfectly cooked catfish is served from 4:30 to 8:00 PM on Saturdays, with smaller portions or a full eight-piece plate available. Friday nights also feature burgers. The food is delicious and cooked to order. The burgers are awesome, seasoned very well, and a fantastic size. Sides include amazing onion rings, sweet tater tot fries, and recommended beans with green tomato salsa. All desserts are made in house, including the best buttermilk pie and a recommended key lime pie. The atmosphere is a great family atmosphere, sometimes with live music on Saturday nights, and features a newly constructed patio cover for enjoyable al fresco dining. The staff is sweet, friendly, attentive, patient, and takes pride in the food. The owner is friendly and truly cares about the customer's experience. It can be a little loud and busy, but is a lot of fun. Plan on coming early or you will have a wait. It is a must-visit and one of the best kept secrets in North Texas.
