Wonderful Bible teaching church, although a bit too traditional and formal for us. Service also lasts 1:45, so be prepared for that.

So thankful for the opportunity to worship while out of town? There were so many special things about this The Village Church Denton, from the beautiful worship style , to the powerful sermon from the preacher, to the kindness and friendliness of the volunteers.Love the way they made family worship a priority and had leaders arrive after worship to gather the kiddos and go off to their age appropriate rooms.Love how we stood for the reading of God's Word and the sermon notes they handed out before service. The time spent as a congregation intentionally preparing our heart before hand to recieve the Word.Everyone was so welcoming and we truly felt at home, even if just for a Sunday ❤️

i’ve gone to this church since i was a little kid. i thought it was a welcoming environment until i realized i’m queer. my dad was a deacon, everybody knew us in the church. i was a sweet little church girl. but when i realized i was queer everything changed. my dad went behind my back to talk to the church after i came out to him and my mom and they encouraged him to kick me out and have nothing to do with me. this is not the Love of Christ. this is not unconditional love. if you want a church that truly loves, go to the methodist church off the square. they care. these people don’t.

If you like contemporary worship, identify with Baptist traditions, crave emotionally charged sermons, and believe in multiple baptisms you will really enjoy this church. However, if you are looking for a church that is open-minded/open-hearted/no judgement this “may” not be a good fit. I attended for 3 years before pursuing covenant membership. I ended up making the personal decision to withdraw after learning their core values. In a nutshell they believe: elder positions are restricted to men, inner culture is exclusive, and the church is a member of the Southern Baptist Convention. During this covenant process I felt alienated and excluded. I was being asked to jump over a series of hurdles in order to become a member. It just didn't feel right. The culture was also materialistic in both Denton and Flower Mound. I’ve grown up in small Methodist churches. Leaving the village brought me to a different village where I found a unified, inclusive church that accepted me with open arms and embraced the believer that I have been. No baptism needed. Matt, please speak gently, with a still small voice so that everyone can hear.

Just not comfortable with the motives and direction of this church. Explosive growth has led to lots of variable, loss of controls, and teachings infused with tone that is not appropriate. Matt has a gift at deconstructing the bible, but it's not always what you say...but how you say it. Jesus raised his voice on rare occasions for dramatic effect.

A place of worship of God our Lord and personal savior. I enjoyed the welcoming environment and the teachings and songs.
