Sad to see these is no car wash! Let me know of you would like some help promoting it as a restaurant now. I sure hate driving across town to find out there is no car wash.

What I like about this place is that while your car is been hand washed, and I must say meticulously, you can enjoy a pretty good meal they have a very wide selection of Mexican food and some classics like hamburgers and such. A good way to get a taste of a traditional and long-standing EL Paso business. And the food is very delicious I've never been dissatisfied with the service and their food. It is definitely a must do.

It's been over a year since I visited my favorite breakfast spot in El Paso, TX. THE one and only... H&H Carwash. A carwash that serves food? If you're unfamiliar with the famous spot, it's a quiet (sometimes) and quaint diner within the actual old school hand washed car wash. Opened in 1958 by Danny Haddad. I remember as a child, and teenager, my pops would bring me here. Kenny and Maynard Haddad were always outside sitting down, or inside chatting it up with patrons. My pops told me that my Nonno (Italian for Grandfather) helped fix the electricity from time to time. On the walls of the diner is a museum on honors from the city and numerous UTEP athletic posters dating back to the 50s. There is nothing I can say or do, to do this burger justice. The "Julia Burger" is an iconic staple on the H&H Carwash Menu. Nice big soft white bun, mustard on the bottom bun, then chopped iceberg lettuce, onions and tomato. Then on top of that, the delicious (not frozen!) fresh pattt. Seasoned to perfection. You can taste the crisp from the flat grill (plancha) that might be old as the restaurant itself. Then American cheese, a big roasted green Chile (skinned), dill pickles, and Mayo. Soon as you bite into it you get the tang of the mustard followed by the char of the patty and the rest of the textures that comes with fresh burger ingredients. Old school as it gets. 9/10 on the epburgersnob scale. Maynard walked by and said in classic Maynard fashion, "Jeez, slow down eating that burger young man."

Did not get the car washed this time but may on the return trip. My daughter in NY told be to hit the coffee shop as she is a instagram follower. The coffee shop is a piece of America that you don't get to experience often. We were greeted by Maynard as we walked up and he led us in and seated us. I came to get to know Maynard later after we finished breakfast. The meal and service was like having breakfast at your friends house in high school and is mom cooked it for you. Back to Maynard now. This guy has to be in his late 80s. If I have the story right his dad came from Syria after WW2 and opened the carwash. Spend a few minutes with Maynard and be sure to listen to the guy. That was the true treat.
