It's not the golf course it was when it first opened, yet it's not pricey either. I did think it needs better general maintenance. The grounds need more care. It could be far more tidy and well kept. The place is still worth the current price but does need management to step it up on grounds cleanliness. I would still go back though. It's still a Tom Fazio!!!! El Paso is a hard place to keep green...we need to support this business.

The best golf course in El Paso. We hosted our fundraising golf tournament for the second year here. They're great, staff is friendly and the grounds are well kept

The counter / pro shop individual was rude and disrespectful to me and others paying with our hard earned money. He was wearing a new Mexico St university shirt. Buddy, if you don't like what you're doing or El Paso.... don't let the door hit you in the Asp on the way out. You're not doing us any favors. The green are looking mange and the sand trap's looked rock hard.

Great guy in the Pro Shop. I didn’t get his name but he was professional and courteous. Course conditions were good overall. Tee boxes were good, fairways great, and greens acceptable. I enjoyed a couple deceptive tee shots and the par 3s. Par 5s we’re scoring holes as well as few par 4s. Overalls a fun course with some great views and history

Great layout, but the course needs some love. Fairways are mostly good, unless left or right, then ya gotta hit out of sand with some small rocks. A lot of the greens have spots all over them that aren't flat, dead spots that throw you ball off like. Maintenance is being done. Hopefully, greens can be fixed. Most tee boxes aren't bad. Throughout the course, there's places where there used to be grass, now it's just dirt or sand. The driving range isn't bad at all, $5 small bag with about 30 balls. Enjoyed the layout enough to go back. A lot of up and down and some blind shots too. Not flat at all, challenging and enjoyable. Those bunkers need more sand or dug up, very hard hitting out of them.

The course didn’t honor a gift card that was labeled “Butterfield Trail Golf Club” because according to them they no longer were affiliated with that company. Which makes zero sense because the gift card says the name of the golf course on it.On top of that. We showed up for our 9:30 tee time and the starter said that they’re behind on tee times about “2 tee times”. In reality they were about 5 behind. And the pace of play is ridiculous. Through 9 holes it’s taken over 3 and half hours. We called the front desk asking them to help keep up the pace and the Marshall did nothing to tell the people in front of us to speed up. The group in front of us has a kid with them and they’re letting him swing from time to time. Four different carts of people who don’t know how to play. They take over 30 minutes a hole. A 9:30 tee time and we’re through 9 holes at 1:10. That’s just absolutely ridiculous.Lastly, the greens are horrible. They’re in such bad shape there’s no way to get a solid read on them at all. How are you not giving some sort of discount per round when all the greens have a terrain on them?I’m very upset for multiple reasons with this course. Just absolutely ridiculous.

Bottom line: 100% NOT worth it. Among the worst greens I've ever seen. The Good: Nice clubhouse. Friendly staff. Pretty good food. Good course design and layout. The BAD: Greens are absolutely terrible - every single one of them. Almost no point in even putting. Bunkers are rock hard. If you're not going to work them up periodically and maintain them, just fill them in. Fairways are also quite hard. I get it - it's south Texas. There's not a lot of rain. But other courses in the area have figured it out. Essentially there is nothing about this course that provided a fair test of your game. Hit it in the fairway - gonna roll forever and may end up unplayable (not much rough to stop anything before rolling into the rocky desert). Hit it in a bunker - don't try to play it like a bunker. Hit a good approach and stick the green - make a *guess* about how it's going to BOUNCE across the green, because it's not going to roll. Absolutely no point in keeping score here.To be fair, I'm not leaving this scathing review after one visit. I played it 3 or 4 times over the winter. I assumed the conditions were due to seasonal dormancy of the grasses (back then the fairways could have just as well been concrete). I decided I'd likely not come back as there are other options in the area. However, one of my golfing partners made a tee time at Butterfield for June 24th, so I figured I'd give it another shot. The fairways are slightly better than concrete now, and have some green color. But the bunkers are still terrible, and the greens are significantly worse. I apologize for not taking pictures to support these statements. As I mentioned above, the staff are friendly. But for them to make no mention of the condition of the greens when the tee times are made or at check-in is absolutely unconscionable. The layout of the course has potential to be among the best in the area. But until they figure out how to fix the greens and maintain a golf course, do not bother playing here. For the record, the course currently warrants a 1-star review. I upgraded it based on the friendly staff, course potential, and the hope that they'll figure it out.

Heard that it used to be a premium course here at El Paso, and as the matter of fact, this place was a mail and passenger stagecoach that linked Western and Eastern states.Appreciate a lot the landscape carved out in the middle of the desert, the vast scenes that combine ultimate blue sky and white clouds. The only thing is that the greens are not well maintained, which resulted in tiny little bunkers all over the greens ?Meanwhile, to play here in the middle of the summer ? is really an examination of how much heat you can handle............

Nice course for the money. I liked the layout but was disappointed with the condition of the greens. They look like they have some sort of disease. Not good putting conditions. I got there early so they put me out in the back nine instead of having to wait since I was a single. This was cool of them. I will play it again next time I’m in town. Cheers!

Worst greens I have ever played. We were not warned about the greens before we teed off. The course has a nice layout but on June 7th of 23, just plain terrible greens. We stopped after nine because there was no point in putting. My friend rented clubs, they were dirty including having mud on a couple of irons. Very dissatisfied.

Greens were awful the course is close to no fun at all! Go somewhere else even though the area is scenic with the mountains in the background.

Why can’t you be like RedHawk golf club in Las cruces? They are privately own like you!! At one point you were even better than them. I know those days are gone. Maybe one day you can be somewhat close in quality. Maybe I’m dreaming.

Haven’t played this course in quite a few years and was sadly disappointed in it this time. I understand desert golf but the greens were absolutely horrible. Looked as if they hadn’t seen a drop of water in years. Had a hard time finding any “grass” on them. It was like putting on glass. Also had a group of 6 in front of us and no one from the course came out to split them up until the 8th hole. Luckily we didn’t see them after the turn but 3 hours for 9 holes is painful.
