Rick Zampino, from my understanding, was the second Board Certified Master arborist on planet Earth. He has consistently proven himself as a tried-and-true professional in the industry and works with absolute integrity. This of course is passed down throughout his entire company.I had the pleasure of mentoring under him about 15 years ago and Rick is at least largely to blame for helping develop my passion for trees, the science behind how they function, and the benefits they provide to the people who live under them.Advanced Tree & Shrub Care, Inc. is the best company by far to help with your trees care!P.S. - I'm now a Board Certified Master Arborist, largely thanks to the guidance of Rick and his team @ Advanced Trees & Shrub Care, LLC!

I was looking for an arborist to check in on my new 6 foot tall trees to make sure they have a strong lead and appropriately spaced lower branches to support decades of healthy growing. The receptionist told me there was a $95 assessment charge to get a quote. I think this is reasonable. She then said that this does not include trimming. She quoted $270 “for the truck to leave the garage” because they “run a three man crew”. This is not a reasonable fee for a tree with branches that can be reached from the ground and none larger than my thumb. I think $365 for minutes worth of advice is ridiculous especially when I can cut the branches myself. She wasn’t particularly friendly, almost discouraging my business, so I did not attempt to ask any further questions. I can easily trim the branches myself. I just needed professional guidance on what branches to trim. Seems like the arborist would be willing to make $100 bucks for taking 10 minutes to show me what branches to snip.

Got service last year after we bought a house in McKinney with lots of old growth trees. Arborist from ATSC had told me I'd be good to go for 3-5 years after they came out.Guys came out, trimmed more than we wanted honestly, and were gone a few hours later.Since then, we have had several branches fall, including a very large one just this week which fell into the neighbor's yard. I thought that strange, as there hasn't been any severe weather to speak of.Neighbor's arborist came out and said, "O yeah, this is pretty common. They just took out the interior limbs, but didn't thin the ends. That leaves a lot of weight out at the end of the branches, and also makes it easier for them to catch the wind and whip around. Both of which make it more likely the branches break off."So, not thrilled.

We had them out to remove a tree and grind the stump out. The tree removal guys were very friendly, did a great job and left no mess. We had a small issue with the root grind but the company made everything right for us. We could not ask for better service and I highly recommend them and know they stand behind their work.

The tree trimming crew was right on time and we walked each tree talking about how the pruning would progress. The health of some trees was also discussed. Three professionals pruned eight medium-size live oaks and removed about 30 Indian hawthorns that died in the hard freeze. Roots were removed with the shrubs. All work was completed in about four hours. Every trimming area was raked so aside from the improved appearance, there was no sign of tree trimming. All trimmings and removed shrubs were chipped into the truck and nothing was left behind. Very personable professionals that provided recommendations and advice for maintaining the trees going forward. Excellent value for the amount of work.

They came twice, once for tree cutting and then second time for stump grinding for 4 of our trees and they were paid for both the services in total of more than $1050. What we did not realize is that they just do stump grinding only 8 inches or so. We were supposed to have 4 new trees planted from another company and then came the surprise that the new trees will be planted at least 24-36 inches below and the stump needs to be grinded that much. Recently our tree planting company told us that they will not be able to complete the planting if that is not the case and that they will charge us 20% re-stocking fee. It was a shocker as Advanced shrub had charged almost $600 for this particular service and not a single time they mentioned anything about the depth or cautioned us. Fast forward yesterday, we called Advanced shrub, there answer was that they do not have equipment to stump grind more than 8-10 inches and that somebody will reach out to me. Nobody called back after that. I had to find another company and get a quote, they quoted another $250 or more per tree for a total $1000 at least for 4 trees again for deeper stump grinding. This is such a shady practice by Advanced Tree and Shrub care. Because of them, we are facing excess expenses and ridiculous time crunch issues now with HOA in my community. DO NOT USE THEM as they are not looking for your best interest.
