Thoroughness and competency. My local vet experienced a heart block with our Westie during her teeth cleaning. I wanted to understand the impact on her health in the future and requested a referral to the cardiology department of FMVESC. My experience with cardiology did not disappoint. I later decided that having the FMVESC dental practice handle the extractions would be wise. The consult appointment with Dr. Johnson, Tech Kaitlin Lilie, and other staff was informative and thorough. I was certain the staff would be the best option. I was right. Our Westie went through seven extractions with flying colors. She recovered quickly and did not suffer the side effects we experienced through her teeth cleanings at another Vet. I want to commend Dr. Johnson and all of the others I met during our visits, but unfortunately, did not think to make note of the names.

Stay away from this place. First thing before even seeing our dog they needed to run a credit card for $3,500. Don't even know what was wrong. I was at home and my husband told me our dog had not been seen. We took our 10 yr basset up there because he had not eaten in 3 days. He was shaking with pain. My busband and I waited 2 hrs before even seeing the dr. I stated I wanted my dog back. They negotiated the price to $1,500 saying he had an elevated BP. No other test were run. They wanted to keep him 3 days. We said no you can't even tell us what's wrong. They charge $165 to monitor BP. Dr said the dog would not make it if not monitored all night. The next day was Sunday and I called to check. He was still the same but was told he ate. When we picked him up he walked to one side and his eyes were not right. It appeared like he had a stroke. Brought him home while pooping he sat down could barely walk. Early Monday morn the dog was in such distress breathing I called another vet er. When we took him in. He did have a stroke and had a severe spinal injury and had no use or feel of his legs. We believe he was dropped hence the high BP. We had to put him down. One of the owners called to talk to my husband from Flower mound er. They did admit he had not eaten. Our dog was misdiagnosed and certainly did not go in there in this condition. The money grab was unbelievable. And so was the misdiagnosis

I first encountered Flower Mound Veterinary Emergency & Specialty Center last year, shortly before Christmas, in the middle of the night. My 14 year old, at the time, was acting very lethargic and just standing there, staring unfocused in the distance in pain and her face had started swelling. Obviously worried, I called the closest emergency vet describing the situation and they told me they weren't taking any appointments because their vets were already in emergency surgery. They referred me to the next closest emergency vet that told me the exact same thing. Flower Mound Emergency Vet was the fourth location I called, by that time in a complete panic, and they told me they don't turn anyone away and to bring her in. I found the office to be very compassionate and kind with my dog and they did a good job of explaining that she had an abscess and what the next steps were. They prescribed medication for my dog and good alternatives when I explained how resistant she is to taking medications and were very attentive as I explained her history. After I contacted our regular vet about getting the tooth pulled after the course of antibiotics and found out they would be closed during that time for the holiday, I called back to the office. They agreed to write my dog another prescription for pain meds and antibiotics to last until our vet could see her, that I could come pick up on my own without an additional visit fee. That made a huge impression on me and when she had another middle of the night emergency when she was now 15 years old, we didn't bother with the closer late night vets and took her directly back to Flower Mound Emergency Vet. They again treated us and our dog with compassion and respect and made sure I received her x rays through email before we left the building. By this time they had become 24 hours which was such a relief that if something happened I wouldn't have to wait for either my vet to be available or late night hours to start. Obviously their prices for exam and certain tests are a bit higher than a regular vet due to the emergency nature, but the immediate care and the fact that they take all forms of payment, including Care Credit, makes it well worth it when a situation shouldn't wait. During both of these visits they got us directly back to an exam room, but I did notice that their waiting room is large, comfortable and they had a large variety of refreshments to offer. My most recent encounter was a sad one. Grace, my 15 year old, had a tumor burst on a Sunday night. I talked to the staff that night about the situation to make sure we weren't causing her harm to keep her home with us to spend more time with her and again the following afternoon to let them know the progress and that we were on our way. When we arrived they immediately got us into a special room by an exit I had never noticed before, to privately discuss the process. I'm very grateful for this step. It was my first time being there during daylight hours and there were quite a few people with their pets. They allowed me to pay in advance from the room so I could leave through the side exit when I felt I needed without dealing with lines or human interaction. They had chocolate kisses there and gave me as much time as I wanted with Grace before bringing in the shots and gave me the option to stay or go in a very kind and non judgemental way. Dr McConnell had the most incredible bedside manner I've ever seen in this situation, Grace was put down in a very peaceful and painless way and I wasn't rushed to leave until I was ready and they were very patient with all my crying. I'm not sure how they understood me at all in retrospect. They called me when her paw print was ready for pick up, but I couldn't make myself go for a few days. I'm glad I didn't, because the following week I received a very sweet card from the office and while it made me cry, it allowed me to thank them when picking up her paw print. I have a 13 year old dog still and I will definitely return t

My original rating for this location was 1 star, but I have update my review after speaking with the GM. She listened to my experience, took everything very seriously and went above and beyond to make sure to rectify the issue/situation. Though I still think it's important to hear my experience below, do know they were extremely professional and took care of me. Knowing this, i would definitely return to this location if it was necessary. Original review: When I read the reviews for this place the first review said avoid! But sadly I was visiting my parents in the area on a Sunday, so I had no choice, they were the only place open locally. My puppy, after eating breakfast, threw up all his food and had extremely bloody stool. When I arrived I walked in alone while my partner stayed in the car with our dog. The front desk lady was very professional and took our situation very seriously. She had me fill out paperwork and come in a side entrance with our puppy after we told her our normal vet thought it might be parvo. We waited a bit for a vet assistant, but they finally came in, did the basic checks and took our stool sample. (Mind you, this stool sample was filled with blood and it didn't even phase them.) The vet tech then took Ricky to the back for 30min, but it seemed like an eternity. After we finally got to meet the vet Hillary Hellstern, who was more concerned with the cream cheese stain on her scrubs than our dogs condition, we asked her and her vet tech about Parvo and they said there is no concern that it would be parvo (their words: THERE IS NO NEED TO DO A PARVO TEST) and she HIGHLY recommends a x-ray since doodles often eat things they shouldn't. We were so worried that we complied with her recommendation and $1000 later found out there was nothing but extra built up gas and they'd be sending us home with some stool hardener and antibiotics. It's now been a week and a half since visiting this horrid establishment. We've finished all the stool hardener and meds, but today my pup is puking again and had runny stool! I now have to take my pup to his actual vet to find out if he has parvo and could have infected my other dog. Update: Ricky has been tested for parvo by his general vet in Dallas and it has come back POSITIVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't take your pet here!! My daughter took her lab here on a Sunday night after he ate multiple individual pkg coffee creamers. They wanted $10k for emergency surgery. When she asked to take her dog they tried to negotiate a few thousand dollars less holding the dog hostage. She took her dog home and to her regular vet next morning who performed the surgery for a little over $2k. Total scam!!

I just want to say thank you to the front desk, vet tech, and vet. They were all so kind and simply amazing! Our fur baby of 11 years was taken to his normal care provider twice over the past two weeks with a cough. We were told there was nothing wrong and just throat inflammation. Then, last night our fur baby started having a hard time breathing. We took him here and found out he was having congestive heart failure. Treatment options were discussed, and we decided to put him to sleep. During the whole process, everyone was super supportive, giving my husband, two daughters, and me time to say goodbye. Thank you all so much.

Took our dog last night after his face was swollen and apparently he was in pain. After being looked at by the vet, we were told he had been bitten by a copperhead. More than one bite on nose. They gave us options and recommendations. We opted for the most aggressive and had anti venom administered. He stayed and we came home to find another one of our dogs had been bitten. Back we went. He too had anti venom administered. Thankfully both are home today resting. The vet, vet techs and front desk lady were all amazing. Highly recommend!! Very stressful realizing your dogs had been bitten by a copperhead and they are small dogs. They were very informative but not pushy on our options.

I am currently here visiting my in-laws and my dog got sick after eating a bunch of acorns. I called to see if I should be concerned as I am a LVMT in TN and we do not typically encounter this there. They informed me that they can be renal and hepato toxic to dogs and that he should be seen. They were busy with a critical patient and several other sick patients, but they got us in and treated my boy overnight. His lab work was normal upon discharge tonight and he is doing great. For those of you complaining about a long wait, be glad if you have a wait when an emergency clinic is busy because it means that your pet is stable. Many other pets aren't that lucky. This clinic treated us professionally, in a timely manner given the circumstances, and with wonderful attitudes despite the difficulties they face on a daily basis. I would highly recommend them.

The team at Flower Mound Specialty are amazing! I called on a Thursday after receiving some disheartening news from another practice. I did my research and they were the best specialists for our dog's situation. They got us scheduled for the follow Monday morning. They thought of everything in case they needed to do surgery. Eva and LK coordinated blood work and medication through our local vet (we live 2 hours from their office). When we arrived, they were ready for us and offered the best care for both me and my dog. The team kept me informed during the procedure and Dr. Johnson called me afterwards to discuss her findings. They were a blessing in an awful situation. They showed nothing but respect for my dog. I would highly recommend the team at FLOMO Vet. Specialty. They are a rare group of people!

AVOID AT ALL COSTS. MISSDIAGNOSIS Came with my dog who has pancreatitis & diabetes and she was in pretty bad shape. Not only did they miss diagnose her with liquid in her chest, saying she wouldn't survive the night. they were suggesting for me to put her down and something felt off to me and I decided to take her home. I took her to a different vet the same weekend and they had looked at the X-rays they made and new ones and they found no liquid in her chest meaning if I had followed through with their suggestions I would've taken the life of my pet for no reason. They had given a poor prognosis but they had said she wouldn't survive the night and she's still here with us and recovering 5 days later. Do not go here.

In Jan 2023, my dog experienced an unexpected urgent situation. His situation was grave and a technician and front desk staff member came to my car with gurney and immediately took him to the back to get care for him. They recognized the sense of urgency and didn't hesitate. The veterinarian didn't perform unnecessary tests and presented the prognosis and options available. We made the decision to put him to sleep. They allowed us to take the time we needed to say goodbye. I always felt the welfare of my dog was a bigger priority then trying to get me to spend more money.

The whole team who cared for our dog were amazing. They listened to our concerns and gave options on a treatment plan. When labs were obtained the vet explained everything thoroughly making sure our questions were answered. We had to leave our dog for a few nights for care we could not give at home - we were extremely anxious and emotionally but they were all so good with him and I knew it was in good hands. Every time I called for an update they promptly checked with his tech and updated me on his progress. When we came to visit we did not feel rushed and it was reassuring that our dog went straight to them when they would come in the room. Cannot express our gratitude enough - they are good people and provided excellent care to us and our dog. (Thank you again Dr Hattaway, Brandy, and Ashley!)

A couple months ago, my 2 year old kitty cat Romo received a diagnosis of stomatitis and my vet referred me to the dental specialty team here to see him and plan a treatment. Given the severity of the disease, they decided the best course of action was to remove all of his teeth. As a pet parent, this is a tough pill to swallow and you immediately have a ton of questions (how will he eat, will he be able to live a happy life, etc.). The team took amazing care of Romo, reassuring me throughout the entire process that this was the right thing to do and that he would live an even happier life afterward since he would be pain free. Dr. Landy and Shannon and the whole team were amazing and so patient with me even through my many panicked phone calls post surgery (I'm a worrier). It's now been almost two months since the surgery and Romo is back to his happy, playful, cuddly self! I can't thank the team enough for the amazing care they gave my baby!
