Dr. Shaffer has been taking care of our pets for 25 years, and has easily been the best Vet I've ever been to. He's kind and takes his time with every appointment, and listens to our concerns. Every one of our dogs loves him and his team. While the facility is a little aged, don't let that fool you with the level of care your pet will receive. I've been to many other vets when we had to move away, and have never seen even a close second!

Dr Shaffer is the best vet I've ever had the pleasure of bringing my pets to. My pets and I have been coming to see Dr Shaffer for the last 30 years. He's always welcomed them when they were babies and then he was there for them and me when it was time to say goodbye. Thank you Dr Shaffer.

Unforgivable.1. Our 13 year old Westie male was losing his battle with a bad liver. After 2 days of no food or water, my son called FMVH and asked the lady on duty to ask Dr Shaffer, if he could recommend ANYTHING to get him to eat or drink. THEY NEVER CALLED BACK. Barney peacefully passed away in my arms the very next day. STILL NO CALL FROM MY 13 year Vet! Been a month now and Still NOTHING!2. A few days later I was in their office getting a prescription for another pup. THE VERY SAME LADY THAT LISTENED TO MY SON’S “NO WATER OR FOOD CALL”waited on me. Did she ask me how our dog was doing? NO. Am I surprised? No.FMVH HAS NOT BOTHERED TO CALL US IN OVER A MONTH. Barney had taken Xrays, an EKG and an Ultrasound the previous month at an Imaging facility. Things were not going well…. YET DR SHAFFER OR HIS OFFICE DOES NOT SEEM TO CARE!!3. Our other Westie died 1/29/21. A few months before that, I rushed her, on a weekend, to the FM Emergency Vet Clinic. The Emergency Vet examined her and say she would send her findings to FMVH, but I had to call Dr Shaffer first thing the following Monday for further tests. I called that Monday, first thing. THE VERY SAME LADY ON DUTY, THAT DID NOT CALL US BACK WITH BARNEY recently, explained to me AFTER HEARING OF OUR EMERGENCY VISIT:“Well, we are booked this week”. You will have to schedule a visit the following week!” REALLY? My dog spent ER time just 2 days ago AND NEEDS TO GET SCHEDULED! Next week? Really?I have talked to friends, neighbors and even vet office personnel on this. To a person, ALL were APPALLED! The answer should have been, “We are booked, but we will get you in” NOT what she initially said. As it turned out, I got my dog in, but not without begging.Summary:Dr Shaffer is a very friendly guy and I did enjoy his friendship. For MINOR medical things, he is fine. Anything beyond his basic services, he has not been out front trying to get answers from specialists. I have found out that other vets would have done more with specialists and SOONER.I was aghast, but Dr Shaffer told me 1 week before Barney died, that the Westie breed had chronic liver problems. WHAT?? My first Westie pup died age 12, 15 months before her brother, with LIVER problems. WHY DID YOU NOT TELL ME THIS? Maybe we could have extended a life. We had 15 months to try SOMETHING! Yet you said NOTHING.Another Review on this website suggested that Dr Shaffer has too many clients. I would now say, I agree. Maybe he could have done more to save a second life. Maybe not, but he did NOTHING..I have now switched vets. People that I have talked to regarding my recent history, would have left FMVH a long time ago. I should have payed attention to the over 50% times I called: “Please Hold”, Too many clients for an effective practice? You decide.I wish the staff well. I will not sacrifice my third and last pup to FMVH..He deserves TIMELY care with an office of compassion. I truly thought it was the best. Sadly I was wrong.

Please don't judge the book by its cover! The clinic has been around for some time and as such the infrastructure may look older or shabby but the doc and the staff are equally experienced and at the top of their game. My puppy was spayed there recently and had her shots and I was blown away by the quality of their work and genuine care for the animals and their parents!

Absolutely amazing care and I honestly couldn’t believe the candor used and the price once finished. As everyone else says (minus the single one star review from a Karen) the building is sketchy, but the care might be the best I’ve ever received and the price definitely was. If I could give them 27 stars, I would.

Dr. Schaefer has been tremendous with our dogs (including spaying one) and with our litter of 9 pups this year. The care and level of service are worth the price, imo.

We all know what a puppy mill is. This place is a vet mill. They do barely passable work for Humane Tomorrow to make a dollar. We picked up our adopted dog from spay surgery. Lady at the desk, Your slab of meat is back in the kennels. Just go left, right, left, right and you'll find her back there. We've never been here before. She's back there. Too lazy to walk a non-paying customer to the back. Refused to give us an e-collar, because dr shaffer doesn't think she needs one. And only gave our dog 32 hours of pain medication instead of the standard 72 hours. Our regular vet was appalled at the incision, sutures and the half done skin glue closure that came apart too soon. Run from this place and tell Humane Tomorrow to stop using them! Or if you want a horse/cow vet, move to flower mound.

Dr. Shaffer is excellent and deserving of all the praise he has earned over the years of service to the community.
