Point of Rocks Roadside Park is a peaceful roadside picnic area set into a rocky outcrop of the Davis Mountains. It features concrete tables with bench seats and charcoal grills, with Common Raven to keep company. The hike is more of a scramble, requiring good shoes and four points of contact for the climb. The views are worth the effort, with incredible perspectives of vineyards, mountains, and wide open spaces. It is a genuine challenge going down, and the hike should not be done at night for a first time.

Really nice peaceful roadside picnic area set into a rocky outcrop of the Davis Mountains. There are concrete tables with bench seats, charcoal grills, along with several Common Raven to keep you company.

The hike here is really more of a scramble, wear good shoes and plan to have 4 points of contact for a majority of the climb! The views are absolutely worth the effort though, with incredible perspectives of the surrounding vineyards, mountains, and wide open spaces. I hiked it at sunrise and it was incredible.

I’ve climbed Point of Rocks 10+ times and it’s a blast every time. The first quarter of the climb is harder than the rest, but it’s totally worth it. The area around is beautiful, but it’s a genuine challenge going down. DO NOT DO THIS HIKE AT NIGHT FOR YOUR FIRST TIME!
