I appreciated that the team was willing to take me on late in the tax cycle after a delayed K-1 and that they filed an extension promptly. The periodic updates were helpful, and when I raised concerns, Joe personally followed up, which I genuinely appreciated.
That said, the overall service felt closer to an advanced version of TurboTax than a true CPA experience — and at $715, it didn’t offer meaningful value beyond what I could have done myself. My primary contact, while decently responsive, was not a CPA. The team also wasn’t familiar with specific state forms that would have led to a Virginia refund, nor did they educate me on FEMA provisions in Texas that were likely going to mitigate late-filing fees for my business. I understand each state has its nuances, but identifying and navigating those differences is precisely why clients seek professional tax services. If the firm doesn’t plan to maintain proficiency in certain state filings, it would be helpful to communicate that upfront.
Given the price point and the limited depth of expertise provided, I don’t plan to use this firm again.

Joe Hockaday has been my accountant for 16 years. He and his staff are smart, competent professionals and excel at customer service. I’ve watched them grow in leaps and bounds from word of mouth only. I get my taxes prepared there and when my ex wife had a cleaning service they did the books, payroll, taxes, everything! I highly recommend them. Best accountanting firm in DFW.
