This pains me to do, but we must hold each other accountable.
I made an appointment online today with Walter for 6:15pm. I come in, greeted by Anaya (I believe is her name) to check in. I run to the restroom, and on my way see Walter chatting with another associate while they are servicing another client. When I come out of the restroom, he’s now working with the client while the other associate is chatting with him. I ask Anaya if I should sit in the wait — she says yes and goes to let Walter know that I’m there. She comes back to the desk, and asks me to come over to her from the sofa, I oblige. She then informs me that Walter can’t take me and asks if I could come back the next day at 3:45pm. I said that wouldn’t work and asked why I wasn’t able to be taken. She said “he just can’t take you. He didn’t know you were on his books.” I gave her more time to think and she followed up by saying “He’s with another client.” I asked why I was about to make an appointment in that case. She responded, “You made the appointment online? That would be why.” I asked if something was wrong with the online appointment system, she just repeated that he didn’t know he had an appointment. I then told her, “I work for corporate, so I’m trying to understand exactly what the disconnect is. (between online and actual appointment availability) She looks at me and says “I don’t know. Would you like to come in tomorrow.” I said no ma’am. I will speak to someone who can find out.
This experience is unfortunate for several reasons. Two employees were present —Walter and the other stylist — taking turns servicing the same client while chatting with each other. One of them could have serviced me if they wanted to and decided against it. I’ve always made my appointments online with no issue. If the stylist is servicing a client and the receptionist is manning the schedule, wouldn’t it be up to the receptionist to communicate schedule changes instead of turning a client away after they made it there? I could’ve saved myself a trip had I been informed earlier. I told her I’m from corporate in attempt to help bridge the communication gap only to realize, it’s more of an internal communication issue than a systematic issue on top of zero attempt to accommodate me same day.
Overall, very disappointing experience. If this is the way we treat our own, I can only imagine how we treat our guests and completely understand the underwhelming reviews in terms of customer service. This was a classic case of clocking out before closing and it cost us a customer. Unacceptable.

Was reluctant because of the reviews but I must say that Terri was absolutely amazing! She’s got years of experience and walked me through the whole process. I’m excited to know I have a hair stylist that I can trust!

I got my hair done with Jenny! She was amazing. I got highlights and cut. She was very kind and supportive of how I wanted my hair done. Will 100% return and ask for jenny every time!

Beware that even though a stylist is available to provide a particular service, they may have no experience providing that service. Tasmin started by applying relaxer to my already retouched hair instead of my roots which was the initial red flag - every relaxer kit clearly states that relaxer should be applied to the roots first! She altered her approach at my insistence and barely combed the relaxer through the hair with a large comb. I was willing to overlook all these, till I realized that I had sustained a chemical burn from the relaxer at a spot where it was not properly washed out from. My hair also looked dull and took effort to comb unlike my prior experiences after relaxing my hair.
Even though she claimed she had been a stylist for years, she probably has not had much experience with relaxers and it would have been best to decline the job or pass it on to a colleague.
Before you sit in that salon chair, ask whether the stylist has experience with providing the service (because the JCP Salon website does not indicate this) and don't ignore red flags.

The management is extremely unprofessional and money hungry. I was booked for a specific slot, and my stylist was consistently harassed by the manager to work faster because another client had arrived for her even though it was still my designated appointment time. I was rushed through the process and was left feeling disrespected and unsatisfied. My hair was still wet and freshly washed when the manager came over and insisted her next client was ready. They are trying to squeeze in as many people as possible to profit as much as they can. I can’t believe that this is how they choose to run this salon. They’re exploiting the stylists and talking down to them… disgusting excuse for management. You should be ashamed.

I went for my first new styled haircut ever, and it was a horrible experience. The workers told us that our reservation was delayed by 30 minutes, and even after waiting for more than 1 hour, the workers treated us with disrespect and didn’t allow us. They were arguing with each other and placing blame on the stylists, but the communication between the manager was bad. Eventually we just left, and then they started acting up. Horrible experience and a total waste of my time.

I wish if I can zero star, today I had an appointment at 11 o'clock in the morning, I went there to get haircut, dye my hair and highlight it, I booked the appointment a week before, I arrived on time, the hair dresser apologized and said your hair needs a specialist to do your hair while I don't have any problems on my hair I really asked for simple things. She went to get another person and I was waiting for 10 minutes to see when they can start, then she said the next available appointment is 2:30 or 3:00 pm. Do you guys kidding me I asked for a MORNING appointment because I have many things to do. It was my first time to go there and last time really disappointed they rewinded my whole day.👎🏼

Yesterday I booked for a haircut and blow-dry. A silk press was added without consultation with me. My hair was tangled before the shampoo but if blow dried correctly I could have gotten a dry cut which is what I came for. My hair was blow dried then detangled which causes more breakage than what I came in with. I leave out and realize my hair was cut unevenly and choppy ends are flipped up so obviously the shears weren't used correctly. I asked for it to be fixed by someone else but the damage was already done. It's been less than 24 hours and my hair looks like it has never been touched (Silk pressed) so not only did I get a horrible haircut the service I didn't request was a waste of money and yes I told the lady at the register I didn't request a silk press but I would pay for it. I'm a licensed barber so I knopw what it's like working hourly and for tips, but I wouldn't suggest anyone go here. 1st Pic is how my natural hair looks when I go else where 2nd is 4 hrs after I left the salon

I was disappointed in my service. The price tag was high. The skill set was ok. I didn’t appreciate the stylist resisting when I pointed out something I wanted fixed

I had the worst experience at JCPenney Salon. The staff are complete rookies. I went in for a simple layered haircut, and Fayza Rehan butchered it. The layers were so choppy and uneven, and she completely messed up my bangs—they were awful. I had to trim the bottom layer myself because it didn’t blend at all with the top. I’ve never had such a terrible cut in my life. On top of that, she didn’t even give me the blowout I paid for. To make matters worse, she charged me an extra $15 just because my hair is long. She also put my hair in a ponytail before I left the chair so I wouldn’t see the messed up layers.Definitely will never be coming back.

Greta assumed I am a man and put me under men's cut when there was already a long queue for $10 deal. Very bad experience but Denise gave me good hair cut.

I come here only for the treatment of my hair. My stylist does great at trimming, relaxing, and deep conditioning my hair, but as far as styling, it’s a no go. I’m very picky about my hair so I need a trustworthy stylist for keep my hair healthy and I style my own hair.

This “Salon” is a bunch of crooks! We made a consultation appointment with this “so called hair stylist ” Lacey two weeks ago for my wife. It was my gift for her birthday. Well, we showed Lacey pictures of the color she wanted, as well as the cut. She then promised my wife, and I she could do it, no problems at all and that it looked fun. She even gave us her instagram account so we could look at pictures of her previous clients so we would feel certain she would be in good hands. So we went ahead and booked the appointment.
Today, 9/21/24 two weeks after our consultation appointment, my wife drove all the way from FT Worth to get the hair color, and cut she wanted, and that was promised. After about five hours she calls me in tears. I asked what was wrong, and she explained to me that the “stylist” Lacey completely was not competent and wasn’t able to fulfill her promises made to my wife and I. She FaceTime me in tears. She chopped off my wife beautiful black hair that reached the lower part of her back right about the buttocks. Now it’s between her shoulder blades. She wanted a v shaped cut and of course it was not cut like that and is round. She even showed her the picture of the cut she wanted 3x’s. Now the coloring of blue highlights/streaks that apparently was all of a sudden a problem and was an even bigger disaster. She came home with green, brown, and a very light tent of blue.
I did my due diligence and called the manager of the salon to see what exactly was going on with her stylist. She tried explaining some b.s. about in order for this to happen, this and that needed to happen for her color. It was very apparent she had no desire to make things right, and all I wanted to explain to her for me being a supervisor myself that she needed to talk to her stylist and tell her she if she can’t promise the work she told us she could do, she shouldn’t be able to make promises she obviously can’t keep. It’s my wife hair she ruined. Manager just kept on going on about some other b.s. so I hung up the phone.
I extremely recommend another salon if you are about to go get a cut or color. This salon is a bunch of crooks, and they will never see my wife, set foot in that salon ever again. Hell, even Ray Charles could’ve done a better job. I’ll post the pictures below. I’m still so mad about this. You can clearly tell my wife has been crying.

Would rate lesser if I could. They have a huge lack of integrity here. Classic bait and switch. Don’t tell you the full price on anything earlier on. They add a lot of last minute BS charges. Just paid $62 for a shampoo and basic blow dry. Been here twice before and paid different amounts each time — first time service was with Walter (who was great btw) and he charged $25 for shampoo and blow dry — extra $20 because he did great ironwork. Second time was this amazing lady (newer stylist) charged me $25 for the whole thing. This time, Joanne (master stylist) they didn’t let me know she was going to start at $47 for the same service and same hair length. She charged an extra $15 for “apparently longer hair”. Very bad with communication and they take advantage of people. Made me drive 25 mins out of the way for this terrible service.
