Super nice, easygoing people. They made the adoption process easy and they genuinely care about the animals. We are adopting a sweet Chihuahua pup. A dream come true.

Caring, clean, and compassionate! The staff and volunteers treat the animals as if they were the pet owners. There are safeguards in place to protect the dogs and cats from getting off the grounds, but they all have indoor and outdoor access. Facility does not have a "kennel" smell and animals are socialized to increase adoption rate. Very well run shelter!

What an amazing place, with amazing people. Talked with Janet about finding a little friend for my 92 year Dad on Friday. She told me that she had the perfect senior dog in mind for him. We drove from Port Aransas to meet Uncle Grandpa on Saturday. The rest is history. There was an immediate connection between them, that has continued to grow with each new day. My Dad is so happy. Thank you, Janet.

Everyone here was so helpful. You can tell the employees and volunteers take the care of the many animals here seriously. We fostered a young kitten who quickly turned into a part of our family. Just finalized his adoption today. I would definitely recommend to friends and would go back here when looking for a new furbaby.

I was recently at this place looking for a new edition to our family. While I was there not even 30 minutes I told them what I was looking for. And felt very down graded because of our smoking habits that I felt we didn't qualify for the new edition we was looking for. They referred us to the adults of what we wanted and every single one was a runner or to old and set in their ways for being there to long . Because people get graded for their fault . we walked out very disappointed. On how we was treated. Will never go back or refer anyone.

I took my special needs kids with me to find a new addition to our family. The staff knows the dogs very well and we were able to visit in a quiet area outside to get to know her. We are so happy for her. She is just a joy. Thank you so much for your dedication to these animals and to your community. She isn't really a guard dog so much as she just stays with you and melts. She just puts her paws on my girl and checks her then she goes to me and My son and then back to my girl each time. No one trained her to do that. She did it the first night. I thought it was confusion so I had my girl pretend she was sick and the doggy did it anyway. She named her after the girl with the face in the movie. The superhero . God sends angels for his children. This dog is My girls I can't explain that bond wait till you see. She melts in her and protects her.

We went there having a couple dogs in mind. I even called ahead of time telling the lady (I think her name was autumn?) that we were on our way WITH MY KIDS. Once we got there she was immediately disrespectful and rude because we brought our kids with. She made multiple comments about how our kids were just too much for the dogs to be around. She said our kids were going to scare the dogs and that we should "Just go to an actual animal shelter where they can handle kids being too loud." Her actual words. My kids were not being loud they were excited to adopt a dog and instead was told by a stranger that the dogs wouldn't like them. Absolutely unprofessional. If kids aren't allowed maybe put a sign up or even mention on the phone the limit of people allowed? We drove over an hour to look at dogs and instead we were not allowed to see them. She only allowed us to see the puppies even though we told her we wanted an older dog. There is some beautiful dogs on the website. But due to the staff being horrible I do not recommend going there. Which is sad because those dogs deserve a loving home. I truly hope they treat the dogs better than they treat humans.

We have both an adult cat and a ten week old puppy that we’ve adopted from GCHS. both are great and we were very pleased at the obvious care given to the animals, cleanliness of the facility, and the friendly, helpful staff!

Ten years ago today, we adopted our beautiful one-year-old Smith Ann Wesson at your shelter. Today, we celebrate her eleventh birthday, and we remained so grateful for your work. We have loved this girl from day one! Thank you for saving her for us!Faye and Pat Frasier
