I do not understand why they never answer the phone.
I love this store. They have so many things that you would not expect them to have. It saves you a trip from going all the way to Galveston.

Everything as expected for a Dollar General, but I cannot recommend the beach across the street. Stingray bad.

Great store in a remote Galveston location (kid-south island) that carries everything you need, from groceries to housewares to health and beauty and more. Great prices and convenient for tourists staying in the area - like us.

I'm scrolling through the reviews and I'm surprised at how many reviews going back at least three years are referring to the rude cashier I had today. Why hasn't she been, at least, coached on her customer service skills?
She didn't speak to me, including when I asked her a question, and when I repeated it, she snapped at me. I thought maybe it was because she had to work on a holiday, but the other employees were pleasant. It sounds like she's like this 24/7, and really, her attitude isn't my problem.

Not the friendliest customer service. I thought it was just my ugly mug. However, they treated my new customer referral the same and asked to search her insulated bag and purse . It's a good thing she has nice employment with a law firm and can afford to pay when she shops .SMH * I encourage management to take action.

2 stars for being convenient, however the employees at this store clearly do not want to be there and are rude to the customers. I frequent the store as I am a local and it is on my way home. There are 2 older employees (male and female) that rarely show a smile or greet you when you walk up to the register. Then there is a Hispanic woman with a rude and snappy attitude who thinks it is okay to yell at customers. The aisles are often blocked and it is hard to navigate the store with a cart. The entrance to the registers is oddly placed where the line falls into the main aisle and it is difficult to maneuver the carts into. How about you start the lines where the cash register begins (specifically for the self checkout) rather than making customers awkwardly move the cart through a narrow path and then turn the cart in an accessible manner to check out.
