2 stars for being convenient, however the employees at this store clearly do not want to be there and are rude to the customers. I frequent the store as I am a local and it is on my way home. There are 2 older employees (male and female) that rarely show a smile or greet you when you walk up to the register. Then there is a Hispanic woman with a rude and snappy attitude who thinks it is okay to yell at customers. The aisles are often blocked and it is hard to navigate the store with a cart. The entrance to the registers is oddly placed where the line falls into the main aisle and it is difficult to maneuver the carts into. How about you start the lines where the cash register begins (specifically for the self checkout) rather than making customers awkwardly move the cart through a narrow path and then turn the cart in an accessible manner to check out.

Online it shows they close at 10pm. Just came at 9pm and they were closed.

Been going to this location for years! Gay always has horrible customer service. She never wants to help and is always snappy. Everyone else here is awesome!

Typical Dollar General with some grocery items being way out in Jamaica Beach...Nearest general store that is not gas station prices.

I hate the way Dollar General pushes many local shops out of business but I do appreciate the ability to run in and grab needed items quickly and at a reasonable price. It's the choice we all have to make at times. In our case, we needed TP and a small bottle of laundry detergent. Dollar General had what we needed - in the brands we preferred - and didn't cost a fortune. Plus it was close so we could walk and grab what we needed. Win win. This location also has a huge selection of groceries, if you need them.

This Dollar store is convenient & carried the items we forgot...butter & oil for cooking. They had inexpensive pool noodles too. Those came in handy since we forgot our pool floats. We ended up buying way more than we needed. I had no idea you could get a bottle of wine for less than $5 but at the Dollar Store, you can! I can't vouch for how great it is. It hasn't been opened yet. This store is full of stuff.... Stuff that you might need & plenty that you prob don't but you might buy anyway. We just kept filling our cart on Friday. Unfortunately, the staff on Friday July 8th is what is lowering my review star rating. The 2 employees (one male stocker that couldn't have looked more miserable) & Gay who was anything but happy brought down the rating. (Approaching a long run on sentence, brace yourself). After going to the self check out to avoid the very grumpy cashier (& still having to get approval to buy my $3ish bottle of wine, I was friendly & said hello & thank you.... She never spoke) we really did not want to go back but we went back (due to lack of close by options) on Sat July 9th and the staff was fantastic! It just shows you that it's not the job, it's the people. On Sat, a kind man, that was stocking shelves, went out of his way to find some Texas souvenirs for me to give to a new friend we'd met. The young girl who was working at the register on Sat was also friendly. She was nothing like the very unfriendly woman (Gay) that didn't even acknowledge us the day before when we checked out. It was as if we weren't even there. We were friendly & she never spoke to us or even made eye contact. No hello, no thank you, no you're welcome when we said thank you.... nothing. She was obviously very unhappy but that attitude reflects poorly on a business. We just wanted to pay & get out of there ASAP on Friday. I wish I had the names of the wonderful employees on Sat. The woman who was stocking shelves that day & the man were so nice. The cashier was great. You would think that the Saturday afternoon crew would be crankier about having to work but they were awesome. The 3 employees that worked on July 9th deserve some acknowledgment! They were 5 stars!

I was surprised that they had a lot of food items, so I don't have to drive to Walmart from JB. They have a lot of everything here. It's like a mini Walmart. The prices seem to be okay, especially their brand name items are pretty well priced with decent quality. They even have beach stuff! Which they should, you know, because they live on the beach.

Wide selection of goods. Extremely poor customer service. Called to ask a simple question; first of all the lady that answered the phone sounded like she hated life, and then she responded to my question in a “are you stupid?” tone. Just lovely…

The most awesome DG there is. The employees are awesome especially Danny, Ms G, Jack and that woman with those beautiful green eyes I belive her name is Liz. They are all so welcoming plus the store is organized and has everything you need from toilet paper to camping equipment to everything you need for the beach. Awesome store, thanks you DG Jamaica Beach

There is one female who is rather tall, and slender, with long graying hair who is downright rude. She barely acknowledges you when you come to the register to pay and there's never as much as a "thank you" from her when you leave.That being said, all the other staff are always warm, friendly, professional and can't do enough for you. If having difficulty finding an item they don't just tell you where it is, they take time from what they are doing and show you where the item is. They are all wonderful, it's those friendly staff members who keep me coming back to Dollar General. In regards to the store sometimes being a little untidy it's usually when the staff are refilling the shelves from boxes on the floor, but any one of them are quick to apologize while trying to clear the boxes out of your way.
