Galveston Island State Park is a beautiful spot with a very clean beach. It is a tiny state park with not much to do, but it is great for camping. They have wonderful paved campsites with lots of space between the staggered concrete pads. Each site has a covered pavilion and hookups. The beachside section is very different from the other side, basically a nice beach. The facility is very nice with clean, spacious restrooms and showers. There are lots of clean bathrooms and picnic tables, with nice new clean tables on the beach side. The front desk and nature center are cute. The staff are friendly, helpful, and pretty cool, with a very awesome addition of a fishing instructor. It is a great place to take your dog on a leash. There is a per-person fee to enter the park. Some trails can be exceedingly muddy and the boat renter is not open. Overall, it is a most excellent place where visitors would definitely camp again.
This Texas state park is a perfect beach stop for a day or a week. Plenty of facilities: many covered picnic areas, restrooms with changing rooms and showers. The campsites are paved and water/ electric hookups are available.
