I appreciate the shelter for open up their door when I was in a bad situation I recommend this shelter to anyone who needs to get back on their feet everything about it was what I needed and I thank God for The Salvation Army of Galveston thank you and the staff for all the encouragement.

Food is always good. Donuts and cereal every breakfast. Dinner always includes enough carbs. Usually they serve enough protein (but not always) also they consistently serve enough fruit for vitamin C. The leadership here is strict and harsh if you make a mistake, but if youre trying your best to do the right thing, you will be fine. Just dont have an attitude and you'll be alright. Case management offers services to help you. But, its on you to reach them. They are pretty understaffed i feel for the needs of everybody. But not everybody reaches out. And, if you arent making positive steps to better your situation by becoming responsible, you are limited to 30 days here. If you have issues preveNting you from bettering your situation im sure they will help you. But you have to be the one that tries to get help from them. This is a night shelter. While i was here typical schedule was 1700 dinner 1800 check in no later than 2200 breakfast 0630 out of the door by 0730 or so. Then they usually have a bus take you to a day place that will also help you out called the Christus the daily bread. With both services you should be able to get back on your feet again.

It's very disappointing experience I've to deal with in the men's shelter room which's receiving dry skin soap, rude roommates, no detergent in the laundry room, someone stole my blankets and towels after I finally ask another towels it's not lengthy enough to cover my feets!!! It's very DISGRACE SITUATION!!!

They told me I could only stay for one night and the don't take in a lot of people who are blind I almost died in the streets in hot weather. It took the help of cops and a socal worker to get me in for the night now I'm in another place but only for a week..
