Third time I had to make a trip because of fish dying. Brought 2 bags, one with Cory cat and molly purchased together, the other with a Panda molly. Both bags had the water they were given to me in. Cory cat died on the drive home, molly died soo afterwards as the bag was floating in my aquarium to adjust H2O temperature. Panda molly was bought a week later, she also died as her bag was floating in the bag water to acclimate to temp. No fish ever made it onto my tank. The General Manager saw me speaking to an associate who has always been friendly and accommodating. She literally pushes her employee out of the way and says that the water samples are "contaminated ", because they have dead fish in them. I agreed and stated that the water on the bags, was the same water from their tanks that the fish came home in. She wanted a sample from my aquarium....I explained again my aquarium had no fish, only 2 live plants. She then asked about a previous purchase where 3 mollies and a frog had died. She wanted a sample from that tank. I explained that tank had been taken down and an entirely new tank was set up....so no cross contamination or illnesses. She then wants to know how long the tank had been running, it's been over a month now. She then says how unlikely it is that ALL the fish I purchased from "her store" died without ever being put into my tank, I agreed that was odd, but it was not because of me. I have had hundreds of tanks throughout my life, and they were just fine. She then asks if I had LEFT THE FISH IN THE CAR!!! I look at her like she's insane and said "NO"! She replies with DID YOU LEAVE THEM OVERNIGHT IN THE CAR, OR IN THE HOT CAR"??! She proceeds to tell her employee that she needs a water sample BEFORE I CAN BUY MORE FISH! This woman is ABSOLUTELY INSANE!! I have rarely encountered this level of attitude and utterly RUDENESS to an upset customer!! The aquatics at the Garland location are ALL SICK and will die! Plus you will have to deal with the rudest woman ever! If I could give less than one star, I would! I won't EVER go to another Petco, they have permanently lost a customer! I recommend going any other place possible to buy fish/pets.

My review is based on my experience trying to buy a gecko for my son the manager Anessa was trying to sell lot of accessories and we declined and she said I am sorry I am afraid I can’t sell the gecko to you because your mom won’t let you have the necessary things even though we told her we already had pretty much everything for it
She kept on talking to my son that it’s my fault instead of saying because you are not buying all I want you to buy I can’t sell the gecko
Her attitude was very immature and inappropriate
So we wasted our time in the store for 1 hour

It's a nice place the staff seems friendly enough,but the fish selection isn't the best the prices for live fish & plants seems a bit too high if you ask me but I'm no economist just seems fishy lol jk.

2/22/25: Stopped by with my dog to pick up some wet dog food. I was passing the by fish area and J.B. asked if he could help me. I told him that I was looking at the cichlids. He said that he was one of the dog trainers, and we got to talking about dogs, cichlids and fish tanks. He was very genuine and friendly. He made me feel like a valued customer, and as if we had know each other for years. Great shopping experience, and a great time. This location is pretty clean and organized, and there was plenty of parking outside.

Excellent store. Very clean with extremely friendly staff. Shout out to Crawford he helped me find a better food for my dog and explained how to properly transition him off his old food.

If I could leave no stars I would. I brought my dog to this petco only to be turned around and denied b/c of his behavior. My dog has been going to the petco for years. My dog was recently put on Prozac by the suggestion of THIS PETCO! So i was utterly shocked when he was turned away seeing as he’s been back over 3 times since being on the medication and had behaved great b/c the medicine almost makes him immobile. If the employees felt like being lazy and incompetent today that could’ve been expressed instead of lying about some new policy that didn’t take effect until today. I will be calling corporate.

I was at Petsmart looking for freshwater shrimp, but they didn’t have any, so I decided to try Petco instead. The experience at Petco was completely different. The staff helped me right away and made it so easy to find what I needed. They were super friendly, and I left with exactly what I was looking for. I’ll definitely stick with Petco from now on.
