5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ stars for the staff and only the staff. They are always very nice but hey Texas Thrift Owners...why put 8 self checkstations if you're required to wait on the only 2 members of staff to scan your items hand them to you to bag before you can pay?!? This is the most backwards self check system I have encountered and I'm not sure what you were trying to accomplish by putting them here other than to cause your staff to suffer from customers who try to check themselves out then get upset when they can't. I am not one of those customers but I heard sighs and questions from others in line trying to utilize the "SELF-CHECK" systems but were told they had to wait. Is there eventually going to be 8 people standing by the "self check"? If not may I suggest a sign at thr check out with instructions because your staff is gonna suffer big time.
2 ⭐️⭐️for that backwards check out addition AND so many items were 19.99 24.99 items from Target,JCpenny or Macy's. Not thrift store prices, even with inflation?

PRICES ARE RIDICULOUS! Prices were so high, I had to make sure I was at thrift store! To sale used clothing at department store prices is insane.

I could put up with the overpriced items. I can do without dressing rooms. But NOW, you can't return or even exchange anything for any reason. How are you supposed to figure out if it fits or looks ok? This store is ridiculous and I'm no longer shopping here.

My wife and I are both retired and started visiting Texas Thrift in Garland a little while before COVID hit. We usually go at least twice a month, sometimes 3 times. We have found many nice items, clothing and electronics. Before COVID they had a fitting room, these closed during COVID. Of course this made sense, but they would allow you to return clothing as long as you had the receipt and was within 2 weeks.
Now, under new management, they still do not have fitting rooms AND they do not allow any returns at all. Obviously, it’s their store and they can make the rules, but this is a major rule change. They should alert their customers of this change. A few days ago, my wife tried to exchange some clothes that did not fit her and she was told they no longer accepted exchanges. There were no signs and no one told her as she was making the purchase.
We will not be going back!!

We are fairly new customers, we usually find good stuff at a “okay” price.
We went yesterday and noticed they changed their registers, cool. Once we finished our shopping there was a looong line and 2 people on “self checkout” registers. I thought they were self checkouts but no, you need someone to check you out ! But bag your own stuff . It was the most annoying thing ever, so slow. At this point they should’ve kept the old registers and have more employees checking out. There are 6-8 new registers and only 2 open. I think it’s a stupid layout now and idea.
One thing we have always hated is the fact that they DONT have dressing rooms. There is only ONE mirror in the entire store. Me and my sisters go in leggings and a tight shirt to try everything on, but with only 1 mirror in the middle of the busiest part of the store it’s hard ! I would definitely be happier as a customer if they added multiple mirrors throughout the store.
Some prices are stupid high because they are named brand or they have new tags … no reason to do that. THEY GET EVERYTHING FOR FREE

SHOP AT ROSS, same prices but you can return stuff. I have gone to this store for about 15 years. They got rid of the fitting rooms and they were giving refunds in case things didn’t fit. Last week I bought some shirts and most of them were too big for me but also a month ago they stopped doing returns, $40 wasted. Not coming back due to dumb policy changes. I think like half my wardrobe and shoes are from this particular store. It was a great place. RIP

Customer since 2007, Back then if you came in a Monday anytime of day you could find the sale colored tag all throughout the store. That's what is advertised. Now the staff is required to start pulling whatever color is on sale the next day the day before. So by the time that color is on sale they don't have any to offer on the racks to purchase. Not to mention prices way out of this world for used clothing, some of it smells horrible, especially the shoes. I've noticed 9/10 reviews given by customers have been bad, and yet nothing has changed from the prices to the customer service. If it has its only gotten worse. To the people in charge don't act like you are unable to fulfill a customers request when in reality you're unwilling. The charity that is supposed to be benefiting from this store only receives 10% if that. Greedy. Do better, that's the only way you'll be able to keep customers. Must not be too worried about it, everyone that's complained about being rude or disrespectful to customers are still employed here. 10/11/2024
Update: Ran into a friend who said Texas thrift has made a bunch of changes I should check it out. So I did looking for work uniform attire. I will admit it looks great, pricing is better, the people who greeted me were friendly. However they charged me twice for my stuff exact same amount one minute apart, they refuse to fix this. Didn’t offer any kind of store credit or even a discount for the future. Unfortunate sequence of events… I go to Walmart after thrift and there isn’t enough money on my card to purchase the items I had, while on the phone trying to call the thrift store ( nobody ever answered) I left the kiosk forgot to grab my cashback, by the time I left Sam’s getting gas, someone had already left with my cash. Then returning to the store and they told me after I went to find out what was taking so long, oh we can’t do anything for you.., dispute it with your bank. And that’s it. BUYER BEWARE!!!!!

This used to be a good place to shop for deals, now there's dollar tree items listed at well over the dollar tree price, an the check out line set up is a joke, you have to stand way away from the register to be waited on by a surly cashier who acts like they are mad you are there. . The no fitting rooms is a real pain, at least they let you return for store credit but that's a pain

I have been going to that store for many years now but for a while now I don't like it very much because according to the offers and the 50% price tag you never find anything in that color and the prices are very high.

Prices are a joke. You get your stuff for FREE and sell it for almost the original price OR MORE to ppl trying to SAVE money. That's greedy!! Found a sweater from Walmart (brand new) $6 price tag with a $8 thrift sticker put on it!!! Really!!!??? Really!!???? Place is a rip off...
Texas thrift keep one word in your head - UUUUUSED!!!!!!!!!
Won't return and DEFINITELY won't donate here.

Stars given for kind staff and large selection which was very well organized. Best organized kids section in a thrift store I’ve ever seen which I really appreciated.
2 stars withheld because it is not very family friendly so I want to add to the warnings others have shared here; there are no dressing rooms or bathrooms so it’s fairly miserable if you have a baby who needs changing or feeding. Their prices are also often way too high for thrift. It’s not an antique store or consignment boutique so I didn’t understand the high pricing. I went on a 50% off day and they had one register not working with a line going around the whole store. One worker at the register said he warned management about the broken machine a month ago and no one did anything about it and acted surprised the morning of their busiest day of the year… yikes! They also hang breakable items in bags on the side of the aisles where they can easily break if nudged the wrong way.
They had an overwhelming amount of stock, and I do appreciate that it was well organized.
I don’t think I’ll be back for a while because there are other thrift stores to try in the area first. I’ll consider returning for another 50% off sale which rights their price inflation or if I have one or two things I’m looking for and a budget in mind.
