Very cool, but it’s now private property, so it’s not accessible like it once was.

Nice little place to visit. This should be a great Halloween attraction if whoever in charge put some time and effort.

I took my older brother, who was visiting me in North Texas, out to visit our Aunt's gravesite in the old St. Paul's Cemetery behind the Church. Aunt Carrie was raised in The Grove by her parents, Alvin \u0026 Emily Urbantke in the 1930's-1950's (?). We then browsed around where the old Urbantke homestead had been, then walked around the Old Town, but wished someone had been there to get the history behind this Central Texas town! If there aren't any volunteer docents, then maybe some signs/markers explaining it's rich history would be nice, before it's lost to time.?????

Welcome to The Groove, Texas. It’s a historical museum town, not official been designated a ghost town. You can still walk around and look at what Texas looked like, decades ago.

Went to visit the Flint Creek Cemetery, saw the old town and well. My Great Grandfather was born there, likely closer to the old Hubbard town-site near what used to be Tama, TX. He was born to the Turner family but his mother passed away and he was adopted by the Durham family that worked for the Baptist church in the area. I saw amazing sights, places that I'd read about in old letters. I learned more about one of my half uncles W.D. Turner who was shot down on Main Street in Gatesville back in 1939. This place was for me, a treasure of a lifetime. There is a good man named Walt, lives over in Flat. He took us to the Hubbard Cemetery which is on Fort Hood's Bombing Range, we got them to shut it down for an afternoon and saw Graves of so many old family members. Can't wait to come back.

Keen little town. Residents are super protective, which is understandable. I wish they would still have the reunions/get-togethers down here like they did in the early 90s. Sadly, times are shifting from those ways and beliefs. Personal history and connection- my great grandparents met in front of the mercantile, I believe it was. Grandma was born between The Grove and Flat not too long after.

Privately owned, I believe presenty classified as a historical Museum town. I had the opportunity to talk to the owner a while back \\u0026 his plans were to fix up the buildings and grounds to bring some glamor back to the place
